Wtf's wrong with the tittle here? Does this happen often on Ebay?

What's the best deal with 1080p IPS, a T450s? Is it worth it?

Any reason to get a x230 instead of a x230t?

Upgraded my coreboot t420 with:
i7-3740QM
16 GB 2133 Mhz RAM
512 GB SSD
1080p IPS panel

On the wishlist:
New 9 cell battery
Slice battery
USB 3.0 expansion card for express slot

How did I do lads?

t440s and t450s are the cheapest 14" ones with good screens.

Nice. Report on the battery life without the slice one when you get it.

So apparently replacing a T400 screen isn't that simple. How do I find out the compatible FRUs for my model?

Where can I get new screws for my X230? The official manual say they’re M2 x 3.5 mm screws, but I can’t find any on Ebay or in local hardware stores.

Hello I have been looking for a Thinkpad x230. But there arent any prices that are equal to USA prices for instance in USA you could get a x230 under $150. But here in Europe they are $240 for the i5 model with 4gb ram and hdd. Are they still worth or should I just give up. The ones on ebay have broken plastic and similar and the ones for $240 are almost brand new looking.

I want a 10-11.6" model capable of driving a 2560x1440 HDMI display, preferably with an APU. Any suggestions?

Aliexpress.

Please post total expense.

How about a dedicated screw store? Like, I don't know, Screws R Us, Screws 4 U, We Screw You, The Screw House, or any name they have

Would you (or anyone) say that 1080p on 14" is ok or maybe a bit too dense?

I can't buy stuff from non-EU countries (fees).

50% of €5... let's say you pay 7.50€. Is it too much against don't have it. Choose your priorities, user.
Btw, search for Lenovo Official Services in your country (and get some lube).

yes, many reasons, the tablets suck, I've had both, tablet is now long gone

m2x3 should work fine, possibly try hobby shops? they may have more smaller screws

Attached: IMG_2101.jpg (1296x864, 419K)

>m2x3 should work fine
Do you know this or are you just guessing?

just get some larger one and saw it down to 3.5 mm

It's half a millimeter shorter which is really not enough to make any actual difference.

Longer screws might actually be harmful though.

Hello guys I am gonna buy a laptop for my little sister. I need one that can play minecraft, would 300 dollars be enough?

x130e on Craigslist for $50, what do we think? The pics are in terribly low resolution but it looks like it has an AMD E-450 and 4GB ram.

I don't know anything about thonkpads.

Attached: image.jpg (628x434, 244K)

Id buy it for ~$30, tops

Replacement 900p screen came in today. Its cable came in Friday. I watched a video and it looked relatively foolproof but that hasn't stopped me from fucking shit up before. Fingers crossed that everything works AND I don't fuck any of it up.

Why the fuck are T530 panels so hard to find? Is it just suck up the hundred or so or go for a 'compatible' model?

>bought T430 for $140 on eBay
>very excited

My whole life I've had MacBooks, because Dad is a boomer who likes their simplicity. Can't wait to play all the games I missed out on.

A T440p for $160, yes or no?
Also, should I buy an adapter if I'm ordering from the UK to mainland Europe?

I'm new to thinkpads. I've been using a 2008 Toshiba satellite for all my life, it worked great when I installed an SSD but I don't like the screen brightness nor the battery life (20 minutes on full). I'm looking to buy the best bang for the buck ThinkPad. My budget is 400$. I would like it to be able to handle some modern games and have an excellent screen display 14' to 16'. Thanks in advance for all the recommendations

what are specs? sounds like a good deal so far

My T550: power button broke from regular use
Co-worker's T580: speakers blew out, lower shell cracked from regular use, lenovo will not honor warranty on the shell

Fuck ThinkPads now, we HP Eliteboomers moving forward.

Does anyone know how to enable on thinkpads two finger scroll while dragging eg. a file, or text? I can two finger scroll and I can drag a file, but I can't do both at once

4gb i5 and 500HDD

Anyone have experience with the workstation line of thinkpads? I’m thinking of getting a p50 with a 4k screen but I haven’t found much info on the actual performance of these

is it possible to get 1080p 240hz out of the display port of my x220 for an external monitor of those specs? it only knows 1080p 144hz and doesn't let me go one hz higher

this

>Replace screen
>Replace cable
>Screen works but the backlight is hosed this time too
Was the screen fine this whole time and it was the board that was fucked? I don't have enough money for a new motherboard too.

Is the P1 Jow Forums-rated? My W530 is epic but heavy.

rip

This might be obvious but try reseating the cables etc.

I tried that. I just reseated them once more for good measure. Nothing.

I want to fucking die.

I have a brand new think pad I want to adore with stickers.

Anyone reccomend me a source?

Is a Lenovo x230 for 100 bucks even worth it?

No! Don't get a T440p! They messed up big time on the thumb buttons. You'll hate it.

>W530 heavy
start lifting tranny weakling

Attached: chadpad.jpg (758x644, 64K)

At least the screen works. And possibly the cable. Stay tuned for next episode where I have to coreboot a second motherboard and pray that's the end of that.

eh, I already bought it. It's in mint condition and for european standards, the price is great. Last time I wondered whether to buy or not, the t440s I wanted was gone within minutes.

You'll just have to replace the trackpad with the associated **50 one to get your buttons back.

Have fun. Had to warn since I own a T460 which is objectively better in enough aspects, and had seen enough people using the T440.

Replace disc drive with HDD caddy and you have my exact machine.

Is that RAM the Hyper X Vengence kit that keeps getting sold out?

I know, I'm aware of the costs, the ISP screen and the trackpad. I already have RAM and SSD ready so that should be it. The only thing I'd like to do is get a dock and a portable monitor since I'll be moving a lot but that's not so important now.

Thanks, desu I just wanted to stop hunting for ThinkPads and finally get one. There's this warm fuzzy feeling at thought of getting my own very first ThinkPad.

Also, is it really an issue to get leenux running on ThinkPads?

What thinkpad is the closest to the Aspire e15? I want strong thinkpad that can run most game, 15.6'' screen + or - 2'' doesn't matter and good graphics

Attached: 495109-acer-aspire-e-15.jpg (810x456, 146K)

how do i libre boot a x200. Do I have to open it up and use another computer or can I flash drive it?

Lenovo Thinkpad T430 Core i5 vPro 8GB for 200$ Worth or not?

W530, I guess

If that's $230 USD that's a bit steep, really. $125-150 depending on how much else it's got - 8GB is fairly standard, hopefully it's 8GB as 2x4GB so it works in proper dual channel operation, if it's just one single 8GB stick then offer less for it, like $150-ish. If it's an SSD then $150, if it's a hard drive (regardless of capacity) then 4125-140 depending on the condition of the laptop overall.

1366x768 display panel = $125 max, really, $140-150 for the 1600x900 model.

But no, it's not worth $200 just because it's a T430, there are other variables involved. The "vPro" thing is meaningless, just marketing BS that nobody actually makes use of.

Errr... typo there, meant $200, DOH!!!

my company wants to buy me a new laptop. Is there any modern thinkpad worth using? Something light and reliable.

Leaving in yurop fucking sucks when ordering online. It doesn't help that the customs office is a literal mafia which can fee you however much they see fit.

Complete noob here, easy way to get a cheap Thinkpad that works in office conditions? I work in IT and I need a laptop that I can carry around and bring everywhere, it doesn't have to be ultralight though, I can carry something, the only requirement is that it fits a backpack, has power to run W10 with some programs opened, capacity to be upgradeable and a good "feel" to it sort of speak, thanks!

Also, I'm in Europe, so I don't know how prices vary from here to the US. Keyboard distribution can be changed later right? Even if I'm EU I'm used to ANSI heh

I'll order stuff for you and ship it to you :^)

>T440p
>i7 4700MQ
>16GB 2133MHz ram
>512GB SSD
>256GB M.2 SSD
>9 cell battery
>BH 1.2 IPS screen
>T450 trackpad

Been using this thing for years now. Still feels competent and rock solid.

T420

I like that a lot! What is a good price for this model in Europe? Can you change the keyboard in this model to put an older one?

I found an HP EliteBook 8460p and I think I can get it for free, if not almost. Is it any good compared to a thinkpad or would you buy a thinkpad directly?

They're pretty good, and you can't go wrong with free.

>Can you change the keyboard in this model to put an older one?
Why would you do that? It already has an excellent keyboard.

For me, it's the Lenovo ThinkPad X220.

Hey Jow Forumsents, I wanna buy a thinkpad for pentesting (kali in virtualbox etc) should I buy an x230, x240,x250 or should i go for something like a t450s?

Attached: enlightenment.png (209x450, 39K)

I just got a T440p a bit ago, still working on upgrades

currently
>i7 4700MQ
>8gb 1600mhz ram
>128gb ssd
>6 cell battery
>1366x176 tn

working on
>500gb ssd (on the way)
>T450 touchpad (on the way)
>1080p ips screen

ram and battery will probably be done eventually

Cute pet

Nice! Looks like the guinea pig likes it too.

X200

10 Hours battery in this thing is insane

Goddamn that IPS screen must feel great

Purchased a T41, good or bad move? what should I do with it?

Attached: t41-800x1000-1.jpg (800x1000, 80K)

How do I fix my x220's touchpad spazzing out when it's plugged into a 90W charger?

Because the layout's stup*d

Beat someone to death with it
But seriously, though, maybe you can turn it into a distraction-less machine for writing papers and essays by installing Lubuntu or Puppy Linux

>latin american keyboard

¿De dónde eres?

My beloved T520 was in a fire and got covered in soot, anyone have experiance with cleaning soot off electronics? Nothing melted

thoughts on thinkpad L480 ? need a laptop quick and its the cheapest one near me

WHY THE FUCK CANT I RESET MY BIOS PASSWORD
FUCK

Hey, Jow Forums. I am looking for an ultimate productivity machine with good [5-6 hours] battery life for coding and learning gnu/linux, and i'm choosing between X60, X200, X201 and X220. what should i get?

T420.

i also need it to be as portable as possible, so T series is not an option. and i also don't remember seeing an extended battery for it

My T420s has dust or crumbs or something in the tiny speaker grille holes. If I vacuum the grilles, will the laptop die from static electricity?

Has anyone here successfully installed OpenBSD on a Librebooted Thinkpad? Need some help, and documentation is hard to find...

What are some notebooks halfway decent for gamedev? I'm not using bloated bullshit like Unity or UE4 but ThinkPads seem pretty weak on the GPU side, I'm ok with something like an Intel 520 but I can find laptops with better GPUs than the ThinkPad price equivalents.

Time to buy another motherboard

Is a t220 capable of being my main uni laptop? I am enrolling this summer and might be majoring in cs, not sure. I don't really know what it will all entail. I really love my laptop thanks to reccs from you guys, but I'm not sure if I trust it since I did get it used after all.
If not, anyone have any reccs for newer/more reliable thinkpads suitable for a student?

I just bought a 90 watt, 4 amp charger for my x220, my question is if a higher amperage charger could damage the battery
