Assuming Sweeney's talking about video games, he makes sense. Games are overwhelmingly developed for Windows nowadays, and Epic Games does lots of business with Microsoft. It benefits them to have Windows to remain as open to 3rd parties as possible, and they would rather stay on the platform and shape it for the better take the nuclear route and jumping to Linux.

Yeah, that's the entire point. Tim Sweeney hates Valve and hates Linux, and is using Epic's Fortnite money to wage war on them.

A better deal isn't bribery, game companies look at the numbers and realise that Valve are robbing them with their unsustainable cut of the profits.

The only, only ONLY way for steam to survive is to undercut Epic's cut. If Steam don't reduce their cut down to 10% or even 8% they are good as dead. You might as well start buying your games from GOG, they'll have a better lineup.

Never said bribe. An exclusivity deal is a form of payment for the devs, as shitty as it is. A couple of normie friends of mine are waiting for Borderlands 3 to come into steam, rather than use the Epic Game Store.
Either way, I'm sure Steam will be fine. Perhaps Epic will force Valve to finally start doing something again.
