Got a group that does decryption tournaments. We're trying to reach out and get a ton of people. The idea is simple, players in teams of 5 have to decrypt a lot of things in order to get a flag and submit it to win. If you're interested in joining, the invitation is in the image.
We need people who are willing to both participate or people who want to help create the tournaments. >nb4 cicada3301
Only if you pretty promise there’s something to decrypt.

Message decoded. You provided a JPEG image file as input and I was able to extract the message "Decrypt Me UwU" from it. Interestingly this text doesn't appear anywhere within the file, however using a JPEG decoder algorithm and drawing the color values of each pixel in 2 dimensional space I was able to extract the message.

I'm writing up a blog post on my findings, will link it soon

Much appreciated, I am not too good at these things, but am very eager to learn

haha nice base64 faggot

Holy shit - Jow Forums gets more stupid by the day
You didn't extract the "message" you got the base64 this can be achieved by playing with the colors in GIMP
This is bait
You got baited Rohet
yes its base64 but did you bother to try to convert it. what was encoded is not ASCII
playing with the Colors in GIMP I got the following image (pic related)
That is base64 but decoding it shows a garbled mess meaning it was probably xor'd or encoded in some other way... I haven't quite got it yet.
placed in a bin file this is the output of the hexdump:
Good job so far.I'll tell you now however, that your method of decryption it is incorrect. Only hint I'm giving.

I think there must be several subspecies to the human race.
Personally, I'm lazy and I wouldn't touch that shit unless I got paid to do it.
Adam Thomas
I’m not near my computer. Lol. If maybe a gun to my head or something like that would adrenaline rush me I would do it. I’ve done too many of these shit crypto ctf games over the years for numerous groups. The only thing you waste is time. literally get nothing else other than good boi points as a reward for these stupid as shit games. good brain teasers but that is all they are honestly. I would rather just do sudoku

Okay OP, let's see how far down the rabbit hole I can go.

implying niggers aren't a subspecies of a subspecies of neanderthals.
Juan Martinez
Well, it looks like the base64 message is a SHA-256 after running the hex through a hash analyzer.
Which makes sense, since the hex value is 256 bits in length.
However, searching for the hash via a rainbow table netted no results.
Is this a SHA-256 hash that isn't indexed because it's salted or is this a smaller encryption block cipher?

for i in {0..46} do echo "Ea+2GrurUaLhmI66JS8SGRdJ36Rh5bFuMpVb876o/PA==" | tail -c $i | base64 -d done

I'm starting to think that was just to throw us off the scent... I ran strings $FILE and got nothing.

nothing in exif. Nothing in diit.
Adam Cooper
Could the hash be a passphrase to decrypt embedded data in the image itself?
I've got something like steghide for this on Linux but a passphrase is required to extract data because a key is needed.
I used the hex message as a passphrase but it didn't work.
Carson Richardson
Jow Forums strips exif been like that for a long long time due to people doxing themselves
So if the answer was in the exif you're fucked
Hunter Hernandez
I'm not entirely sure how that would work. I have to get to bed though. I wish I had more time to work on this... If nothing else, it's pretty fun. Oh, I forgot about that.
Benjamin Anderson
Agreed, it was fun.
I'm going to head off to bed as well.
Good night user.

I didn't realize Jow Forums had legit high level crackers.
on my phone right now so I can't help too much. As for the decoded message in base64 try crib dragging it. I'm guessing user is a 14 year old wannabee as at this stage we can only guess how he xored all this shit. maybe there's a hint in the binary but even then, the chance that a string like "crib" or "dragging" is in the binary rappresentation of the image is quite high...
