AMD: Buy now or wait for 3000?

I cannot fucking decide, buy 2600X or wait for 3000 series?

The deal right now with 2 games that I could sell is fantastic, price/perf wise.

If your computer sucks and literally can't function well, upgrade.

buy 1600, sell it later and get 3xxx. no idea if that's what you should do, but i did exactly that, got my 1700 (major upgrade from vishera) and now i'm waiting for 3xxx with a x470 mobo that claims to support 3xxx when it gets out

just wait bro

Fuck this thread, they cannot shut up about monitors.

its close to buy a 2700 time for me

>buying dual channel

Really, just wait. Even if you go for the 2600X, it's literally a couple months now, even the 2600X will drop in price.

you could get an athlon and use that until Zen 2 comes out. Otherwise, the 2600 and 2600X are great all-around chips, and if you're satisfied not having the latest and greatest, then you'll be very happy with a 2600X.

You sound like someone who'll regret buying if the 3000 series is better on a benchmark. Not a gentooman who knows a 2400 or 2600x is already doing the job exactly well.

Question is: what do you have now?

>Buy x470 with 200GE
>Use 200GE to perform required 3000 series BIOS update
>In the meantime use 200GE to play non cpu intensive games
Such a hard decision.

buy a 1600 from microcenter for $80 with $30 off any b450/x470 mobo. use it as a streaming pc after zen2 comes out.

>available for in-store pickup only
>nearest MC is over 4 hours away

buy a first gen ryzen now and a good second gen mobo

that way in 1-2 years you can buy a 3xxx

Wait until ryzen 4000 for 2.5d STAX

by the time 3000 comes up they will be talking about 4000 and you will be like. dont know if buy 3000 or 4000. and you will never buy anything. so just buy it already and later. if you can. buy the new one

The 3000 series is 1-2 months away. Why can't you wait?

>amd
lmfao

wait until ice lake

I'm going to get the 3K right after Yule, when prices are likely going to be at their lowest.

if you're upgrading from FX series, just get the 1600. I got mine for 50$ at microcenter

Buy the 2700x anniversary edition for bragging rights.

>t. seething intard

This.

All the girls will fawn over you too. Guaranteed.

For $220, the 2700 is a pretty good deal. But then again, that $220 might buy a better processor in 2 months. Tough call.

What are you implying? It's getting released pretty much a few weeks after zen 2 and has much better performance.

Mhhh-huh.

You own an enterprise and need to upgrade all of your computers?

wow shitty mobile chips are really going to knock AMD out of the park, thats why coffee lake is getting refreshed, again!

Intel 10nm superpower 2077

>Ryzen 5 1400
>B350 mobo that claims compatibility with Zen2
I don't have any need to upgrade yet, so am waiting at the moment.
If you don't literally need to upgrade, just live with what you have.

When will AMD think up a new socket? When DDR5 rolls out?

I generally go midrange and try to last over 5 years on it, so I'm waiting for whatever the cheapest ryzen 3000 with 8c16t is. It'll have the security mitigations built in, be relatively low power/heat/noise, and keep up with the CPU of the next console generation. I don't really need anything more than that.

Bought a 1600x last year, 0 FLOPs given

Road trip!

I'm on a 3570k (4,2 ghz) and I'm on the fence for a hopefully good 3600X, if they're dissapointing I don't know if I should go 2600X or 9600k
I like gaming but I'm not a pro gamer or anything, I'm on 1080p and turn VSYNC on for fuck's sake but I want a good upgrade, this rig is 7 years old and I want something similar
When I think that CPU+MB+RAM combo was 400$ I want to punch those fucking companies so hard my knuckles will fall from my hands

Zen3 will still be on AM4 and Zen4 will be on the next socket

>3570k
Mah nigga. You planning an upgrade sometime this year as well?

Buy Intel, if you buy AMD you will regret it.

Yes, hopefully around summer
Zen 2 better deliver something good, and still I'll be waiting for b550 motherboards

I would get a 2700X instead of 2600X, but if you absolutely can't function now, buy. However, I would suggest if you're looking for mainstream AM4 socket, WAIT.

Zen 2 chips are coming in a month or two and will be overall improved, paired even better chipsets X570 which may even have PCI-E 4.0 bandwidth spec! For just a month or two, wait.

BOTH
DO IT FOR HER

Why not go X570 or better? Especially considering that there's the potential that certain features will only be on the X boards. PCI-E 4.0 spec, plus something like 40 PCI-E lanes etc.. are saiod to come with Zen2 CPUs + 570X boards.

Also there's the possibility if a leak is accurate that there will be a 16core/32 thread AM4 chip which used to be Threadripper territory.

I'll be waiting even longer, just to hopefully get a good price: I've already gotten myself a 1080 ti for a really nice price (and hardly used) since I have no faith in the current gen of GPUs or whatever is around the corner.

Good luck, user.

5.1ghz 3850X?

Just wait, is always the right answer. 2600Xs will also drop in price.
