You just have an old piece of shit for a computer.

This is how
This is why OP is dumb

That depends on xorg, drivers, kernel, gpu acceleration in browser.

Works on my machine, but I use mpv with youtube-dl like any sane man anyway.

Used minitube for a long time, keeps shitting the bed lately though - so far, I really like freetube.

Smooth playback 1080p60 in mpv. Chromium drops frames.

Try watching youtube using GNU.
Linux is a kernel.

Try watching youtube using Mozilla Firefox. No GNU programs are made for watching youtube videos, you can infact use a linux based operating system with no GNU programs to watch youtube videos.

>Linux kernel and GNU userland are mutually inclusive
Stop that.

youtube-viewer is what I use

Have sex.

You can simply pipe youtube urls into mpv and it'll play. Since opening a browser to get a url was too much of a hassle, i wrote a short python script that searches youtube for a keyword and prints a numbered list of the first 20 results. I can then enter the number of the video i want to watch and mpv will play it using youtube-dl. I plan on adding more options like choosing to download the video or audio, selecting quality, etc.

Install Distraction Free YouTube addon on Firefox.

Her boyfriend's been whoring her out her entire career.

Actually, it has high CPU usage on non-chrome based browsers. Google is trying to monopolize their browser by doing so for multiple sites.

I thought it was just because other Linux browsers lacked hardware acceleration

It does indeed, just browsing to regular google.com on firefox or something that's not chrome will spike your CPU usage to >60%
