Loonix distros as a product

Why all DE has ugli GUI? It looks like it’s from 2006.

Loonix and wangblows is ugli. Maybe MacOS has decent GUI but software and hardware is shitty.

I want an OS has looks and funcion.

write your own DE then

Mac OS X Leopard/Snow Leopard was probably peak OS design, the XFCE Greybird theme gets you close. The other great OS UI design probably is the Win 95 - 2000 one, peak comfy. The only downside to both is that they were both made in an era before HiDPI screens.

Thanks for the aneurysm, OP.

>It looks like it’s from 2006.
Why do normalfags say it looks like something from few years ago to demonstrate their dislike of something?
>Bugmen bad = old

Additionally, as a graphic designer I can tell you that graphical design in the past 40 years is basically circle of the same concepts. The newest trend of "micro interactions" is basically GIFs and Windows xp animations.

uglier

fk man.
thats XFCE
its beautiful

>It looks like it’s from 2006.
Shit was better back in 2006, so i take that as one of the pros

I can sense a change coming. We've gone through flat designs / metro / material design.
I have noticed Facebook has changed the "like button" to a gradient design, looks kind of 2000s to me.
I am not a graphic designer but I have been noticing these "cycles". They do not respond to changes in technology (as in they are not necessarily harder to implement), they are simply the visual trend of the moment. I guess people get bored of themes. Most people can not rice, so software/web designers do it for them.

Everything other than icons looks like shit.

Shit.

>looks like it’s from 2006.
But UIs were at their peak at that time. If you think w10 or w8.1, or the current MacOS look good you're absolutely retarded.
XP > W7 > any other windows GUI. If Xfce actually did look like that it would be even better.

try gnome?

That actually looks pretty great and comfy.

It's not though. Those icons look horrendous and the contrast between the menu logo and button is way too low

ever heard of themes

>Xfce
>themes
Hahah, no. Xfce themes fucking suck by design.

good taste, fren

the problem is that modern gui is flat and soulless
look at the panel here it's just a black bar
no material
no depth
does not look like anything
it's just a plain color abstract bar
pure shit
look at how xp luna has so much soul in it
you can almost feel how it felt like if you touched it
or even aero glass
it's glass and glass feels nice
I hate the modern abstract design of simple colors and shapes

also notice that here in all 3 screenshots everything is aligned pixel perfectly just how the designers wanted it to look like
P I X E L P E R F E C T
these are just awful
trying to look like the real thing but look like a retarded version of the classic theme
no soul
no pixel perfect design
no consistenty
>eh it somewhat resembles the real thing it's good enough
NO
put more effort into it
where is your autism when it's needed the most?
where are the OCD asperger designers?
how is less than perfection accepted in design?

if you really life the macOS shit style then fucking customize gnome or something to look like it
fucking brainlet

go on desktop thread and make your own pretty

What really needs to be improved from 2006-era UIs? If it has panels, icons, and the appropriate system management tools then what more do you need to add? At some point you're just reinventing the wheel over and over with more bloat.

You want Fedora 30

>install gnome
>look at gnome look for themes
>all the top themes are os x clone
hmmmmmm

>I grew up with it so it's perfect reee

No U

Holy fuck, XP looks amazing. Trying to find an XP and Budgie theme of it right now.

I have literally been on linux for a week and I already love the customizability. I should probably move on from the stock wallpaper though.

not perfect
pixel perfect
big difference

that is what he asked for you retard

Why all posters on Jow Forums has shit English?

>it's not a pixel perfect replica of what I grew up with so it sucks reee

what is that ugly ass border
ill never get over how clunky kde is

>Why all posters on Jow Forums has shit English

Dis iz a vindovs tred.

>spend hours of my time trying to make my desktop look pretty instead of actually doing something meaningful with my time

openbox or bspwm + rice = good gui
