I spilled a glass of water on my macbook and now it won't turn on

What are the odds I can recover my data completely? and what's the best way of doing it?

Depends on the type of macbook, year, etc

It's the standard 2013 model I think. Apple doesn't do data recovery I think

let it dry out and in the meantime watch louis rossman videos- he most likely has a video on your version macbook (or similar enough) where he's recovering someones data

good luck homey

Pry open that bad boy and take out the hdd and ssd.
Use another computer to get your files off of them, if they aren't shot.

Ask me how I know you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

thanks it's like i lost my left arm
I don't have the tools to open it but I'll look into that

Oooh, looks like Satania is sleeping. Let no one dare to wake her up.

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately, Macbooks that are unable to power on cannot have their data recovered. I would suggest that you use iCloud in the future to keep backups of your data. Please note that any "repair specialists" that claim to be able to salvage your data are not endorsed by Apple and are most likely fraud.

how's that?
Is that really true?

Hi Mike,

Yes, it is true. Trust (((me))), I'm Level 10 on the Apple Support Community forums.

Your sarcasm isn't appreciated

This is quite possibly the most newfagish thread i've seen in quite some time.

I didn't know where else to turn

Hi Mike,

I'm not being sarcastic. There is no way to recover your data. If you'd like, you can visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple store to see what they can do for you.

Have a nice day!

install gentoo

>MacBook
Good you spilled water on it

Louis rossman has a great video explaining how to fix water damaged devices

>remove battery
>bake in microwave
>put battery back in
>it just werks
Ftfy

Pour cleaning alcohol onto the spilled area. Alcohol evaporates the water faster reducing the chance of water damage

>its an itoddler broke his toy and doesn't know anything about tech episode

>Apple doesn't do data recovery I think
It can't be done, literally impossible, delet this post please

Pretty good. All you have to do is remove the HDD/SSD and put it in a new laptop if everything is actually fried

Put the hard drive in an external enclosure and plug it in another computer. If it doesn't work, don't bother, or pay some lab 2000 bucks to recover your data. If the drive is physically damaged, there's really not much you can do.

I'm pretty sure this doesnt work because apple programmed their drives to be non-interchangeable, both in hardware and software terms, unless they do it. It's like they did with those laptops or phones or whatever that started bricking itself when it realized the screen was an "unofficial" replacement

satania where are you?

Open it, remove battery, remove ssd, dry SSD let it sit for a few days, pop it in another laptop/m.2 adapter

Put it in a bag of rice

tim apple said data recovery was impossible

>2000
Can it really cost that much?
I don't know how to do that. Someone needs to do it for me
Currently is

apple is inkjet level

what if you just make all the connections with wires though? also that doesnt make sense since it will cost a lot to produce in mass

No I said they do this shit on both the hardware and software level, once you power on their software will recognize your third-party hardware as non-compliant and will probably brick itself
>that doesnt make sense since it will cost a lot to produce in mass
wow it's almost like apple products are expensive
