>Blame Intel
why dont they use Ryzen chips? heck Apple chose AMD for GPU over NVIDIA.

because amd doesn't make their own cpus they only design them

Ryzen APU is not as fast as Intel (sans GPU).

Intel promised with their timeline in 2016 to have at least 10nm by 2016.

They fucked up.

Apple didn't. Apple was trying to reinvent the laptop, but Intel has stayed at 14nm forever.

Are you dumb? Design ≠ manufacturing.

Any monkey can manufacture chips.

Die shrinks don't matter.

>Any monkey can manufacture chips.
Then why can only two companies in the world manufacturer 7nm chips?

why is 7nm important

>Ryzen APU is not as fast as Intel (sans GPU).
I doubt that's the problem, as it's true for AMD vs nVidia too. I do think the problem is with the ridiculously high idle power draw and archaic power management(Intel has SpeedStep AND SpeedShift for mobile CPUs)

Also, there is no

smaller chip uses less power and the tiny monkeys that carry the data can do it faster because they don't have to run as far

You dumb? Of course it dies. Smaller dies = higher frequencies = lower power consumption.

And the ability to make smaller portable laptops.

See above.

Nah Intel screwed up. They keep refining Skylake and they haven't done shit in 5 years.

Because Apple is all about that image. Intel and Nvidia are seen as premium. Putting in AMD would be seen as a cheapening of their image, regardless of whether or not it would actually be a sensible idea from a performance perspective.

That sounds adorable

>Nah Intel screwed up. They keep refining Skylake and they haven't done shit in 5 years.
Well, their mobile power management is way superior. Skylake is already good enough for power management.

They don't use nVidia these days though. They use AMD GPUs exclusively for their x86 stuff

considering that the majority that buys apple does so to make "content"
id say ryzen is the best choice

If taking notes in class means making content then even a core 2 duo works as well

yeah its well known that you buy macbooks to create and edit videos and have your self throttled down to oblivion

Not sure about the fine details bit from what other people have been saying on here the definition of silicon manufacturing density can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer depending on their terms. Also apple did the same move with the g5 power pc processor back in the day, keep in mind the TDP of those CPUs was horrendous but in this case if they just gave up some of their slim profile in the pro line on macbook and actually provided sufficient cooling capibilites "professionals" might be inclined to use them

Rather than running the macbook pros quiet to the point of thermal throttling

Apple putting Ryzen would give AMD standing instead of devaluating Apple. Normies know jack shit about it.

can you explain how higher frequencies = lower power consumption?
