I’m looking for a new laptop since my X230 is falling apart.
What can I get for around €800? It needs to be small, have a decent battery and display, and support Linux.

depends on what your priorities are. for example i can find parts for my x260 and upgraded the battery for cheap.
the matebook seems like a nice laptop, but much closer to a macbook than a x230 replacement. i can vouch for the x260's battery with either the 6 or 9 cell, it also has the internal battery so you can switch batteries if need be.
its truly fantastic, my only complaint is the keyboard isnt as good as my x61s, which i use for essays

My Matebook X Pro has the best keyboard I've ever used on a laptop. Pretty sure the regular Matebook is just as good. Also since it's a chink laptop you can find replacement parts from Shenzhen sellers on eBay easily.

i havent had to clean the keyboard but i did have to open it up to fix an issue i had where the wifi card made contact with the motherboard, freezing the laptop. looks like you might have to disassemble the whole machine, rather than the older ones where you just take out the keyboard. have you tried blowing compressed air into it or using a small screwdriver to dislodge any waste?

To be fair though it seems that it's even kind of easier to get to the internal components than on some older models. Like on a x220 if you want to repaste you have to pretty much tear the whole fucking thing into pieces. Still kinda weird that there is no smaller easier to remove panel.
