How many of you have actually paid for an operating system?

How many of you have actually paid for an operating system?

Just stop.

Stop running from your criminal past, Jamal

imagine being such a cuck that you pay for an operating system when there are free alternatives

Attached: 1552711228417_0.jpg (480x480, 48K)

imagine paying to survive when death is an acceptable free alternative

Well not the system but for the support

You’re the same retard using teracopy, seriously, your autism is beckoning on the non-functional side of the spectrum.

I've never used an OS that made me pay.

>mfw I'm being blamed for some faggot literally using teracopy
I just want people to pay Microsoft and Red Hat for the hard work they've put into what people use on a daily basis

Attached: 1437339480172.png (529x470, 483K)

>Posting Chinese cartoons just like the terafag
Hmmmmm

let me know what there's one worth buying

Try Xinuos OpenServer 10.

I have when I bought a laptop with Windows installed on it. I didn't specifically buy an OS though.
I wouldn't buy a copy of Windows for home use, especially when it's so easy to crack. I would pay for support in a professional setting though.

i bought a boxed copy of win 8 pro when it was something like 85% off

You're a good person

Everyone has to pay for their OS. An OS cannot work without hardware, so, if you have an OS, you must pay to have it.

i'm paying for my email

no

0

I paid someone $250 to install Gentoo for me if that counts.

I bought an x220 for 125$ that came with Win10, if that counts

I bought Win7 for my XP computer because I was dumb and young and bought into the "hackers will explode your house" shit.

Include me in the screencap!

I've never actually purchased an OS but I do donate to the developers of my OS here and there

I once searched for a virus-free version of KMSPico for 4hrs and succeeded if that counts... Those 4 hours surely had to be a few cents on my electric bill.

Nowadays im using linux though. Im happy to be free of microflaccid shit

i paid 25€ for my Windows 10 license

If they would price their products reasonably

Everyone that has ever bought a pre-built PC in the last 30+ years. All those MS-DOS/Windows OEM licensing costs fall directly onto you.

I bought Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 10 Pro.

i bought a 3$ ebay license for my windows 10 ltsc.

me too, got it for $25.
Its still unopened.

Is this from Spiderman Spiderverse?

>install Windows 7 Ultimate pirate edition
>upgrade it to WIndows 10 Pro
>buy Windows 7 Ultimate keycode off ebay for $5
>Windows 10 Pro now activated legally

You're right, how could I use a product with an annual development budget over $12?

Never. Either because it was pre-installed on the machine, free windows 10 upgrade. My university had a partnership with M$ so I got basically all their stuff for free except office, but I got VS Ultimate and license keys for windows. I'm using Linux so I'm not bother anyways.

Where would one find such a thing without getting scammed?

My used thinkpad came with a windows 7 license.

Attached: 1551989360111.jpg (661x661, 43K)

Never, since I'm a normal human being. I don't know a single person who has ever paid for an OS. Even if you use windows, why the fuck would you ever pay for that?

they basically take pcs that are being trashed and sell you the license sticked to it.

>not paying in Bitcoins
It's as if you don't want your money to be free too.

pirate Windoze is loaded with keyloggers, trojans and other nasties.

I think the last one I bought was Windows 7. I've been running on that purchase + free upgrade to Win 10 since then. I've also been gradually switching all my stuff to Linux. The only thing still running windows is my GAYMEN pc.

Enjoy a platform with no Adobe, CAD, dedicated software and Steam support.

>Calls others a cuck for using a platform with 1+ billion users

Attached: a49f280558d446d386fbe27f03444c27.gif (400x225, 506K)

I didn't pay for 3.1 or 95, and I'm sure as hell not going to pay for windows now.

>>Calls others a cuck for using a platform with 1+ billion users
you're a cuck for using malware disguised as an os

Paid 5€ for Win 10 OEM keys.

this, ones that dont actively work against your favor

My uni gave my licences "for free"

>Steam only runs on Windows
Where have you been for the past 5 years?

I suppose I have, because I bought a laptop, and I'm not aware of any OEM that allows you to forgo the Windows license to save money.

>Adobe
Gimp and Kdenlive

>CAD
Who cares, nobody uses that except at work

>Dedicated software
Padding argument with nonsense

>Steam
What the fuck are you talking about?

>>Adobe
>Gimp and Kdenlive
Scribus (for Adobe InDesign) has been consistently buggy for me.

Everyone that buys a prebuild or even a laptop is paying for Windows, like you or not.

>topic of using linux comes up
>winfag immediately becomes a professional designer, a professional engineer, and a gaymer (of course it’s games, it’s always games)
everyone sees through your bullshit. Why would I run CAD on my own personal machine? We all know you’re just trying to seem important but it always fails. Also, at work you’re given the tools you need, so photoshop and whatever proprietary program is already ready to go on Mac, or god forbid, windows. And for the record, the clusters and supercomputers I use all run linux but I don’t go around acting like I’m better than everyone because of it.

$3 for windows key on ebay

>Who cares, nobody uses that except at work
>Padding argument with nonsense
cope

here's your (you)
I know you want it,
so stop being a faggot now

For windows 7 back in 2011 I got a legal free key off my college's then called MSDNAA. This year though I switched to linux. I don't want 10.

technically two times when I purchased my laptops, as part of the price. I still toss windows out but I did pay for that copy I won't use.

Bought W10 Pro for like 10 bucks from some Russian keysite, 2 years in and it's fine. If it gets revoked I'll just buy another

Attached: 1543859116640.jpg (315x221, 15K)

Bought legit Win7 Pro OEM keys for cheap, which is legal in Europe. Does that count? I mean Microsoft probably considers it theft or something.

Bought a Win8 disc when I built my first PC because I was dumb
On the second PC I pirated Win10

Yeah, that is not legal for Microsoft EULA but can be done in Europe
I always buy Windows Pro, is like 5€ on ebay
Winserver2019 is like 30€

I actually bought BeOS 4.5 back in the day.

Attached: 566e1ffcd3504cb5434c789d017d2651.png (681x934, 336K)

3$ key in thridies

no steam support? nice meme

>Chink low end laptops and tablets which note they have illegal versions of windows and you have to pay more for a validated key, or they will just shove linux on it for you
>Most normal companies in China offer linux or windows on their laptops, with over 40% of laptop sales choosing linux
>Clevo rebrands all over the world generally come with no OS unless you pay more for windows
Hardly everyone

Everybody who buys a PC pays for windows.
You didn't think it was free, did you?

Just like the original one.

I have a legit win 10 key from microsofts azure dev tools for students thing

still using my free copy of windows 7 which I upgraded to 10

>buying computers with windows preinstalled

Attached: get a load of this goy.jpg (500x500, 34K)

When I had dial up I would buy Linux distros on DVDs. But I don't think I paid for the distro, just the service of putting the distro on a DVD and shipping it to me.

I just worked on it, and the install disk came with the NDA.

Why the fucc would someone pay even 1$ for Windows, isn't it the same as paying m pirating it altogether? Honest question

>buying fully assembled computers
>being a laptop user

Attached: top_pleb__by_coeuralma_da11ce9-pre.jpg (1011x790, 81K)

Pirating is work

work is time

Time is money

Only an unemployed or underemployed person would justify jumping through even 1 hoop compared with a marginal amount money.

The only justification for pirating is AGGRESSIVE, constant data hoarding. If you are not hitting your ISP's soft data caps every month you are wasting your money or the labor.

If all you do is download TV shows and movies and the occasional video game or software package, its not worth spending the time or money for a VPN/private tracker (or usenet subscription or whatever).

You have to be downloading expensive software
Every movie in 4k 3d FSBS

Every porn

Every game for every platform

You need to be going through 12 terabyte drives like water.

I totally agree on the basis of time/money/underemployed. On could argue that once hoop to pirate is still less (duration wise) than buying even online.
And most people here, talk about buying stolen oem keys anyway, what's the point?

Ideally one gets loads of money, and buys quality products throughout his/her life, no question asked, no second thoughts etc

When I built my desktop I actually did purchase Windows 10... Because I am a student and my university sold the Education edition to me for like 10 bucks and it was easier than trying to safely pirate it.

The company pays for all software I want.
I still use Arch though.

My OS's came free with phone/tablet/laptop.

Buying digital licenses is fucking retarded literally paying for nothing lmao but buying used cheap or new on sale like 80% off or more boxed versions of Windows is nice for a comfy collection, so far I have boxed versions of xp pro sp3 and vista home but I plan to eventually get all of them when I find them cheap enough

And buying a £3 key for ltsb/ltsc off eBay to setup PCs for dumb family members when Windows update and store is required is acceptable too.

Attached: windows-xp.png (399x500, 210K)

I used to buy OpenBSD CDs but they stopped selling them.

Attached: 2F0DBBD1-FD4D-4C28-9A99-00C2BB1372FA.jpg (500x573, 239K)

I paid for Vista Ultimate in the retail box

AMA

I paid many times.
All laptops I had, had pre-installed Windows (except one, but that doesn't count).
Boxed Windows XP, probably, and Windows Vista.
Tbh, I was like 10 yo, and I really likes those original CDs. They were cool.

Attached: Microsoft-Windows-XP-Professional-SP3--Cd-Cover-28614.jpg (400x400, 30K)

When I got my Windows 7 computer I actually was able to have Microsoft send me a physical "Backup OS" disk.

Do they still do that with W10?

I bought windows 95 and 98 back in the day

Windows 8.1 Pro for like $50 on Ebay when I rebuilt last year. Upgrade keys are no different than OEM.

Paid for Mandrake Linux (6.1 aka 6.5) and FreeBSD 4.0, Win2000 and XP.

Attached: mandrake-linux-6.5.png (400x488, 376K)

My work gave me 5 keys each for home, pro, education, enterprise, ltsb versions
so its like 50+ keys
with one key with online activation

anyone whos ever bought a laptop with windoes preinstalled, the license is included in the cost

if anyone has bought a new computer that came with any operating system, then they've paid for it. i've never once gone out my way to pay for any operating system and i've been using computers since 1987.

Check'd

>not getting a licensed win7 pro university version from your brother with reusable key

Attached: niiiicee.png (384x271, 134K)

This is cope.

It's bundled in my laptop and I have free windows licenses from my uni too.

Attached: 1536166738474.jpg (656x600, 106K)

>40% of laptop sales choosing linux
I'll take shit that didn't happen for $1000. I'm old enough to remember the Linux on netbooks disaster, with thousands of machines being returned because they weren't Windows.

Attached: 1477500690651.jpg (151x233, 11K)

This. A real "look back and laugh" moment in tech history.
