1TB Micro SD Card for Sale

It's now being sold. 1TB Micro SD Card.

This is beyond science. This is advanced technawlagy.

have to look it up, sounds like it might be useful for my roku 4, where it seems to always need more space in the form of an SD card to save shit...

>SanDisk Extreme 1 TB micro SD V30 XC-I UHS-3 A2

1Tb into my Amiga/Vampire 2 system.

Great now can store 1TB of data on my RPI, which ironically isn't powerful enough to actually do anything useful with that data

How long would it take to write to a 1TB SD card? Half an hour? Would it melt if you did that continuously?

All of the components will probably fuse together with enough heat, rendering the card useless.

I can't wait for normies to dent it and ruin its function.

Nice, I get to finally store all my porn themes for my 3ds.

>$449.99
I think I'll go with a 12TB HDD instead

ftp/smb server?

You better have gigabit Ethernet or why bother

>Costs more than my NVMe 1TB
Hard pass

in my experience sd cards are the least reliable form of storage

It's rated minimum 30MB/s and maximum 60MB/s so 5-10 hours

>This is beyond science.
No, it is iterative minaturization. Pretty nigger tier desu famalam

wrong, it's
>SanDisk Extreme 1 TB micro SD XC UHS-I U3 V30 A2

You don't?

Good, Now I can swallow all my illegal porn when the FBI knocks on my door.

Is this the fake one?

Put it under your tounge or inside your foreskin!

(Micro) SD is an outdated format.

>too slow
>no onboard encryption

itt

You could store 1TB of PS2 games on it, the PS2's only got Fast Ethernet

The Pi doesn't

PS2 handheld emulator when?
I'd finally be able to retire into the forest and run away from civilization with one of those and a solar panel or some kind of kinetic power generator.

>foreskin
I-I don't have one.

Why emulate? Make a portable out of a Slim

cringe
enjoy your arrest
Doesn't it have an unreasonably high power requirement for a handheld?

Definitely, doesn't mean you can't do it though. Going off some really rough math you're looking at ~1h with four 18650s

how long till it's $20?

1TB and then the piece of shit becomes write protected

I'd like something that I could take into the wilderness with me and run away from civilization.
I'd need at least 8 hours for a single charge. Maybe the next gen RaspBerry Pi will be able to pull it off.
The fake ones are already in that range.

Its not beyond science, it is science and more specifically science of engineering.

hardcore video producers will buy this stuff?

Last I checked you needed a pretty decent desktop for PS2 emulation, I doubt you're going to see an SBC that can pull it off any time soon

I literally just bought a 128 gig microsd card just to put doujin on it. For what purpose would anyone need 1 tb

Also I can imagine google and their low space pixel users reeing right now. FUCK """innovation""" that removes features

You're right. It'd be a miracle if the Pi4 could run even PS1 games. I guess I'll stay a grid-cuck for a while longer.

Haha that takes me back ;^)

You can buy two 500GB microSD for cheaper than the 1TB.

Not every device can handle that.

The only way I see this being useful is for video recording. Would be nice for dashcams or security cameras, you would be able to store more before having to purge or archive. Most other types of devices only need temporary storage or don't require so much capacity.

only 1TB...

It's 2019, are we behind the curve? We should have at least 32TB cards by now.

The original Pi should be able to handle PS1 emulation

We should have had 1TB optical discs 10 years ago, back when optical was practical. I'm also surprised nobody is trying to make a new solid state disc format. If we can shove 1TB onto a fingernail size chip, why isn't anyone making a modern day zip drive type device? Wouldn't it be lovely to have a bunch of cheap palm sized terabyte wafers I can shove into a little reader? The obsession with smaller is better these days is completely retarded.

The highest end smartphone SoCs are beginning to run ps2 and gamecube emulation at 720p and decent fps

You can thank gaming consoles and smartphones for slowing down the progression of hardware development.

I've never seen anything anything past N64 emulatied on Pis.

How

Just for the record, n64 emulation is ass. Inaccurate, buggy, and often slow. God damn when will cen64 be done?

No one buys SD cards for their reliability

so what's the point of huge capacity SDs. Fringe cases where you constantly move 1TB of information back and forth but don't store it permanently? RED cameras have SSDs for that

For devices that can't hold massive amounts by themselves and can't connect to an alternative storage device under a reasonable manner?

Like it would be kind of convenient for a music lover to be able to keep a copy of their entire music collection on their phone, right? Plenty of people on /mu/ have collections that fill hard drives.

I've been playing Klonoa on a Pi 2, keeps 60fps.
The N64 is harder to emulate than the PS1.

There's been effort to run Dreamcast games on the Pi 3 (overclocked, naturally), but it frameskips pretty badly and a lot of games don't run at full speed even with frameskip.

Consoles lock hardware devlopment into generations, so that the video game devs can keep up with them (like optimization and consoles and PCs looking roughly the same each gen, etc.). There's no point in making hardware significantly more powerful than the average gaming consoles of the generation. The manufacturers are limiting themselves on purpose because they know exactly how much minimal development they can get away with.
And smartphones are just fucking retarded. Nobody really needs that shit, yet they suck up all of that dev and engineer talent, and they're shaping the GUI of the average internet website to look like compelte ass with no features because "muh fingers don't work on my tippity-tappity device".
I fucking hate all of this cancer. The free market is actively working against our interests to maximize profits and ensure a market stabiltiy of the current players.

Although this is kind of irreleant ITT. Storage development is probably at its potential peak. The server industry is putting such high demand on storage that there's probably no kikery there.

Wow I had that completely wrong. Their marketing team is retarded.

How do you do it? Is it just hooked to a monitor or are people making dedicated handhelds for it already?
Also, do you have a list of what's currently emulatable and run on a Pi? Google didn't help much.

>There's no point in making hardware significantly more powerful than the average gaming consoles of the generation.
Then why does the 2080ti, Vega VII, Ryzen 2700x, or intel 9700x exist

>x
k*

>90MB/s write speeds
Would take over 3 hours to fill this thing. What could you realistically do with this other than Switch piracy?

Attached: 1554649876775.jpg (300x289, 28K)

They're really not that much more powerful than the current console gen. Which is at the end of its cycle right now anyway. The next gen will be much closer to that.
porn

that's probably peak speed too and real world speeds would be slower

i have a feeling by that time the heat would completely obliterate that write time

Future is finally catching up. If I actually had significant amounts of disposable income, I'd buy it right now for the novelty, even though I have no real use for it.

>$449

Pffff, only retards buy this.

I got a 1TB MicroSD from wish for only $12, it's on its way to me as we speak.

>beyond science

We call that "engineering"; aka actually being useful.

Attached: engineering-master-race.jpg (1494x640, 231K)

u gon' get chinked bro

Even my music collection is atleast a fifth of a tb.

>They're really not that much more powerful than the current console gen.
Except that's dead wrong. The Xbox One X is more powerful than the PS4 Pro - they both feature a slightly souped-up version of a 2013 era low-end AMD APU, and an underclocked RX 580 for graphics.

A GTX 1080 and Ryzen 2700X is way more powerful than the best consoles out today.

>I literally just bought a 128 gig microsd card just to put doujin on it.
nice, that's just enough to fit all of COMIC LO

Wait another 20 years for a petabyte version.

The xbone actually has more compute units than an rx 580 but it's clocked lower

Anyone paying over $50 for 2 TB is a damned fool.

Every SD card I buy dies after 1 week. Should I try a new USB adapter?

that's only 2048Gb though

>slow
Agreed
>onboard encryption
Fuck off with that shit, that should be handled by the OS, the card is just an storage device

scientists are higher on the food chain

they have imagination, engineers are just human calculators

2048 GB is 2 TB you mong

Can't wait to put this in raid and download some serious email.

Pi 3+ does have gigabit Ethernet, it's just severely bottlenecked by USB.
Serving files from a huge SD card should theoretically give you double the performance compared to serving them from an USB hard drive (since you're not using the same USB 2.0 for both reading and sending data), but considering the price per GB, I doubt that's a particularly good idea.

I have a Pi 2B and it does run PS1 games, although choppy at times.

My co-workers do. They keep losing photos and begging me to recover them.

The last one had a dying controller but I was able to get about a third of the photos off it.

Another one had a whole stack of SD cards. They had every photo she'd taken in the last ten years, including all the photos in existence of her deceased husband. If she wanted to look at photos she would plug the SD card into her camera and look at them that way. Her schizophrenic son deleted all the photos. I was able to recover them with PhotoRec.

For some reason old people could understand taking rolls of film to the drug store to get them developed, but it's impossible for them to wrap their minds around taking SD cards to the drug store to get them printed.

Those are barley gaming hardware to begin with. Sure you could use it purely for gaming, but you would be retarded to do unless you have that much money laying around.
