Scary technology

What is the future of facial recognition technology? Is going to make all places into nanny states?

>Hiding your face from a camera in the UK gets your picture taken by force and a fine.

What tech can counter this?

Luv me nanny state, ate freedom, ate guns, simple as

Is there a more whipped bunch of pathetic cretins than British "people"?

No, but how can our average Yuropoor defeat this tech? Will big sunglasses work?

Here in the St. Louis area the nigs have gotten so bad that the local gas stations are making you look into a facial recognition cam before the door unlocks. Apparently one 7/11 had it's crime rate reduced by 98%. Pretty soon these things are going to be everywhere

Go transgender and wear a burqa, no one can say shit.

Time to get a burqa. British police will be too afraid of being called racist to take your picture under it.

Unironically this.
Not even playing Jow Forums card. What's the purpose of facial recognition if hiding faces is 100% legal? What's the solution? Burkhas with qr codes?

Take a hint from the Japanese and wear surgical masks in public places. I started doing it when sick around a year ago, my country is still in fake cellphone towers levels of nanny state but I'll be ready for facial recognition when it comes. As for the towers, burner phones from drugstores

the utter audacity of the UK. a man was harassed, then fined for hiding his face and these "people" can strut around all day wearing a trash bag over their faces. its all too much.
>qr code
my fucking sides.

Are you serious? This is some dystopian shit. Unfortunately the people who commit these crimes might be low agency enough to look into the camera and rob the store anyways.

Yet another reason never to step foot within Britain.

I mean, they jail comedians.

yep lol

You can use other things like the way someone walks, their height, etc to narrow it down too. It would just take a little bit more work.

NK has that figured out already.

>You can use other things like the way someone walks, their height
both problem fixed at the same time, you can't walk "normal" in stupid shoes that alter your height

They also arrest & fine people who teach dogs to perform illegal paw gestures.

after monty python theres nothing left, maybe ricky

Facial recognition is pure bullshit scare tactics with a 90% failrate.

Protip: people in surgical masks where them to hide coldsores.

Isn't there some tech that would blur/white out your face from the cameras, but not from regular people?

It is possible to blind some cameras with a strong IR light, but that can potentially damage your eyes and many cameras already have built in IR filters to prevent that kind of thing.
So the short answer is no.

Are you ready faggots?

wear glasses, and use blue/near UV if the cameras are filtering out IR
burkas also obscure stride/gait analysis

>recognize anyone without a 'walking-the-streets' Loicense
what a time to be alive

He's wearing a hat to conceal himself, fucking anti-social

I'm guessing a 1W UV laser from aliexpress would do the job?

And yeah, I'd definitely go for proper glasses shielded against the lasers wavelength.

why the fuck does anyone give a shit about facial recognition?

It's like people crying about license plate scanners, Cop types in your plate into a computer = fine, camera automates it = invasion of privacy ON A PUBLIC ROAD

being in public does not equate to zero expectation of privacy - especially when your information is being stored permanently in shared corporate-glownigger databases.

Pretty much does, really only affects law enforcement for searches

>In general, one cannot have a reasonable expectation of privacy for things put into a public space. There are no privacy rights in garbage left for collection in a public place.[2] Other examples include: pen registers that record the numbers dialed from particular telephones;[4] conversations with others, though there could be a Sixth Amendment violation if the police send an individual to question a defendant who has already been formally charged;[5] a person's physical characteristics, such as voice and handwriting;[6] what is observed pursuant to aerial surveillance that is conducted in public navigable airspace not using equipment that unreasonably enhances the surveying government official's vision;[7][8] anything in open fields (e.g., a barn);

>California v. Ciraolo, 476 U.S. 207 (1986), was a case decided by the United States Supreme Court, in which it ruled that warrantless aerial observation of a person's backyard did not violate the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Worked for a CCTV company a while back in Sweden. We got a request from the Swedish Football Association about having face recognition to help arenas to keep banned hooligans out of the venues. We used 14 points in the face, against a black list database of banned people. However, the problem was that most of these guys would paint flags and symbols on their face, which would throw off the system so in the end it was scrapped.

State power has always been a threat. Is that hard to understand? You don't have to be alt-right/teabagger to recognise that vast amounts of computing and profiing power in the hands of the state can threaten and be a violation of the rights of average people. If some guy in your neighbourhood was collecting guns and maps of the local highschool, you would be concerned with that accumulation of disproportionate power. If it was a group like the KKK, or a local cult - you'd also be concerned. You SHOULD be concerned by the state accumulating this sort of power, even in a 'democratic' society.

Just consider that back in the 70's and 80's, cops were working on paper alone, they didn't even have computers much of the time, let alone direct individual access to vast databases of information. Imagine how many people would have ended up in prison or shot to death if the state had had access to this sort of facial recognition technology during Prohibition, which most people now consider to have been an unjust legal regime.
