Software Update Addiction

Every day I get to my pc I check every software that is installed for updates. Sometimes few times a day. It feels so good to find that there is an update to any of the programs that I have installed. I know it's stupid but does anyone do this a swell?

Yeah man, I sudo pacman -Syu then jerk off to the command line every afternoon.

i never install the updates to any of my software

I do. I used to have several machines running Arch Linux, I think my problem developed from that.

OP here, good to know im not alone

yeah, me. But for me it's a bit worse.

I have a folder of archived/cataloged software. I constantly check for updated versions and then have to download the official real thing and toss it into the zip file in that folder and rename the file properly and while I'm at it check the keygen/crack still works and isn't broken for the updated version.

mine's 93.2 gb.

I use sumo update and check my updated software actually installed. If it hits like more than five things, I update all my stuff. Looks like it's time.

This, but unironically

Your overlords have programmed you well

cringe

what exactly is wrong with liking updates or new features? is it just because new bad old good?

I guess it depends on whether the update is open source or not

You're in the wrong thread. This is about updating shit, not open source vs closed source. Go derail someone else.

I have a cron job set to run pacman -Syu every 15 minutes to check for updates. then I have another cron job to check if the first cron job is working properly

>the persian curse
>installing gigabytes of software every year
>never using any of it after verifying that it works

On the other hand, I dread software updates. When my system is working as expected, I'd rather not have things change.

I love when my computer fucks up. Gives me something to do and makes shit interesting. My computer is like always working perfectly, shit gets boring.

Why? Do you not actually do anything with your computer?

shitpost on Jow Forums and download stuff while jumping tabs every five seconds. I check the news and read some wikipedia articles. Nothing important or job related though. I mean I need it for when I pay my bills and fill out online forms and directions and all that shit but regardless no matter what happens I have it fixed in an hour or so.

... Digits...

uTorrent 2.2.1 will quickly break you of that habit.

same

What was the only acceptable version?

So no.

I do with my phone, but not my computer. There isn't enough updates every day for my computer, but for some reason, there are always 5 or so for my phone.

Fun times.

I use Windows 10. As such, I am more interested in how to NOT update.

I get a very comfy feeling when I see a cumulative update on Windows. It only happens once or twice a month so it's always exciting, especially since I've never had windows updates break anything.

I've been hearing about a version 1903 lately and I only have 1809, so I've been a bit worried.
