HAHAHAHA FINALLY!!! Fuck you, for removing the "Do not check for updates" button, Mozilla! No more nagware about it being unable to automatically get updates.
>block all .exe files in the firefox install folder, except firefox.exe, using Windows Firewall. >add a DWORD 32 bit named "DisableAppUpdate" value 1 to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox >use hosts to block a laundry list of shit.
Fucking hell, they are really disabling a shit load of features as they "update". In 5 years there won't be anything left you can change. To bad it is still better than all the other browsers and telemetry whores.
Or you could have just used a regular (non-administrator) account to get the same effect.
Jose Kelly
>pretending to care about updates and still not using esr this is you mind on Jow Forums
Robert Martin
mozilla maintenance service will stop perform updates though
Parker Powell
i meant still not stop
Samuel Murphy
It gives the same message either way you do it.
Angel Morris
I finally bit the bullet and uninstalled it, what's better Waterfox or icecat? I'm on windows btw
Adrian Russell
If you don't need a shit load of add-ons try the weeklies for K-Meleon. If you need add-ons then don't bother it is a pill to get things working for add-ons.
Matthew Bailey
>what's better bloody diarrhea or bloody vomit
Nolan Russell
I mainly used, HTMLeverywhrere, umatrix and noscript
Jackson Thomas
Give it a try. I think AVG had a generic false positive the last time I tried it in a VM install. Use a sandbox if you like.
Why? Why would you deliberately use browsers that don't respect your freedom when there are plenty of viable alternatives? Waterfox has given me literally zero hassle, and I've been using it for probably a year at this point. If I didn't need some of my addons, I could switch to Pale Moon, which many have. I'm not sure how Brave is, but I've heard good things, and that's where the firefox creator went after the SJWs exiled him from his company. This isn't a comprehensive list of alternative browsers that aren't owned by Microsoft, Google, Apple, or Mozilla, either.
Owen Walker
People still forget Pale Moon can have all the FF add ons you want just by changing a config option. Anything else you want you'll probably get by following the mitigation guide on spyware.neocities.
Xavier Rodriguez
Brave is utter cancer.
Chase Young
>we'll what are they going to jump out of my monitor and install it? my mom gets scared around trannies
Dylan Walker
Or you can just type about:config and disable updates, and why do you still use Winshit?
oh user you do really believe mozzarella will still be alive?
Luis Cook
Waterfox has pre-built up-to-date executables for Windows and stuck to pre-Quantum setup. IceCat does not.
Once upon a time IceCat was better but that's no longer the case.
Landon Richardson
>and stuck to pre-Quantum setup Is the new alpha still not out yet?
Robert Hernandez
Holy fucking shit. I'm so glad you mentioned that. I'm not the user you replied to, but this shit is so fast. Holy cow, I love it. github.com/MrAlex94/Waterfox/releases
Sebastian Russell
just delete updater.exe and maintanceservice.exe
Joseph Torres
You still get nagware notices doing only that.
Easton Adams
I think it is more fun to block them and have them pounding on the box to get out but can't.
>windows >every application has to manage its own (auto) updates. topkek. Enjoy every application nagging you with popups and restarts every time you use your computer, oh and thats on top of background updates from w10 who still nag you to restart for big updates.
Ayden White
>It happens on linux too. You never, ever updated Firefox on Linux through Firefox itself. Your package manager does it. So Linux always had forced auto-updates by that logic.
Tyler White
Most package managers I've used let you choose what to update, or to say never to update this or that. In apt, I typically only install security updates, just by sorting and filtering the list of updates, for instance.
Brandon Perez
now, hold on
Michael Adams
Sure thing, kid.
I nailed it! LOL
Jonathan Brooks
>>add a DWORD 32 bit named "DisableAppUpdate" value 1 to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox That's all you had to do, stop trying to make it seem bigger you huge autist, no one cares about your blog post.
Bentley Murphy
But why wouldn't you update software? I literally haven't met a single Linux user that doesn't want to update something. System updates on Linux aren't a cancer like on windows, and not updating a browser is the dumbest thing you can do since most malware is served through browsers.
You're retarded.
Tyler Gutierrez
>Having to use several accounts just to browse internet.
Brody Rogers
Brave is chrome you retard
Joshua Foster
Why would you prevent updates faggots. Because of you Mozilla has to deal with version fragmentation.
Cameron White
>windows >fighting your os constantly so it doesn't shit up and reboot itself >care about the browser
Caleb Green
Install Gentoo
Julian Morris
>getting updates forced down your throat by Jewdows 10 You deserve this
Jace Jackson
Try Basilisk
Kevin Long
Some people actually want to use their PC for more than just browsing webpages.
Gabriel Brown
nice font rendering faggot
Henry Foster
The ubuntu version does this, updates are through the system instead of firefox directly. They test the updates first.
Carter Williams
>Disabling browser updates Oh dear, OP.
Alexander Bailey
Chrome
Wyatt Collins
This. Windows may be shit but at least I can play my games.
Dylan Martin
Nice try, tranny.
Bentley Bell
PC gaming is for losers
Joseph Gomez
wonder when will Jow Forums take the ungoogled chromium pill
Kevin Johnson
They also removed WebExtension support from Basilisk a few months ago.l
Jordan Martin
Just use icecat at this point.
Ryder Garcia
you mean iridium?
Ethan Brown
Waterfox or Vivaldi you crying edgelord.
Camden Gutierrez
>Brave It's essentially Chrome fork. I would suggest Vivaldi as a backup.
