you should seriously consider getting a jailbreak for your particular version of iOS. either way, you've got no choice but to use third party tools just for simple things such as transferring files (outside of what itunes can natively support).

thankfully, no. but i was paid good money to fix them and get root access to their devices. i was the only person in my state that offered jailbreaking / rooting as a service.
