Smart Watches

Are smart watches still a meme?

Are there any good ones on the market?

Primarily want one with good battery life and good fitness tracking.

Attached: smart watch.jpg (3822x2150, 567K)

just buy an apple watch, retard

those are not memes, those are usuless pieces of technology that the /biz man sell to retarded people that tryes to fill the void in their life with meaningless material aquisitions

none of the fitness tracking shit is worth it, you can count your pulse with 0 effort, you can track how much you walk with 0 effor,t dont use those as an excuse to aquire something useless just because you seek shilling a piece of tech

>apple watch
I'd rather not spend $600+ on an apple product when I don't use any other apple stuff

Sooo.. Are Garmin or Fitbit any good?

I use a Fitbit band style thing. Alta HR or so. Positively surprised, I like pretty much everything about it.
If you want a full smartwatch with great battery and fitness stuff, Huawei Watch GT.
Good device

If you willingly microchip yourself by buying one of these, you are nothing more than livestock.

I have one. Got it with my P30 pro preorder. Hardware wise it's really nice. Perfect size, great build quality, styling fits most situations and dress codes and the 2 week battery life is not a meme. Function wise the activity tracking is decent, if you need more detailed stats for Jow Forums autism you're better of with a Garmin anyway but for average people it's more than enough. Two functions that Huawei needs to add to LiteOS are some kind of audio control for 3rd party apps and a reply function for messages other shit is neat but unnecesary. But if they plan to go further with the development in that area, they could make a big move on the Galaxy watch series.

>when you voluntarily botnet yourself

Garmin is great but targeted more at fitness enthusiasts. Fitbit is basically the Apple of wearables but not nearly as shit.

Android Wear OS only recently got BARELY useful. Snapdragon Wear 3100 was supposed to be revolutionary. It's shit.

Literally the ugliest smartwatch on the market. This is unacceptable for something that is essentially jewelry, even if smart jewelry.

The Samsung Galaxy watch is good. I used to have the Motorola 360 which was trash. A smart watch really isn't that expensive, if you're someone that wears a watch it's worth considering. My watch helps me a lot to stay on top of things. If you just want a smart watch because it's a gadget, then you're throwing away money. If you could use one, you probably won't be asking this question or reading this.

I love my Fitbit charge 2. Had a charge Bedford, got this one for free under warranty. Love your see how I slept and how much exercise and steps I have daily.

I love my amazfit.
30 days of battery life on a single charge
not flashy
just the right amount of notifications
good application for walking and running.

I need a smart watch that can double as a bluetooth headset because all the phones now are huge slabs of facegrease attracting glass. Something like that huawei band thing

>GT
Watching reviews the GT seems pretty bad

What do you guys think of the Xiaomi Mi Band 3?

Don't care about "smart watches" but i'd like to have some dedicated fitness tracker

Which Fitbit is good?

it's good. mi band 4 is right around the corner.

My fossil explorist is great and doesn't look like trash like a lot of smart watches do. I use it a lot on an average work day and it lasts all day without issue.

Hoping for worldwide nfc.

Are these guys rebranded Xiaomi, or just using the same SoCs? They advertise that their users should be running Mi Fit as the app backend.

Seconding the Galaxy Watch, I like mine. Battery life isn't great but it makes it through the day and I've got everything that uses battery turned on, supposedly it lasts several days with more modest settings. I've got mine on this surprisingly decent for

I would probably get the galaxy watch if you have an android phone. The only use I would have for a smartwatch would be to listen to music on it desu.

>the need to charge a watch
>charge
>a watch

Miband 3

All you're ever gonna need

I'm just waiting for watches with FOSS operating system support. Anything supported by Lineage yet?

Gadgetbridge, fullt foss with support for a number of different watches/activty-trackers like mi-band and bip.

This seems to only be a phone app, and doesn't have anything that actually runs on the watch itself. Interesting, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

Samsung Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Watch Active are the only good ones for Android.

WearOS is shit.

If you like how the galaxy watch looks but aren't looking to blow a few hundred dollars then look at the samsung gear sport. Only real difference aside from the looks is it doesn't have a speaker.

Pebble is, and will remain for the foreseeable future, the only good smart watch.
>tfw Pebble Time 2 never

Mine goes a couple days on a charge. I don't use it heavily, just for a watch, timers, reminders, and such. Occasionally I use it for texts or calls

useful to cheat on exams with.

How do you guys rate fitbit charge vs inspire?

>Are smart watches still a meme?
Depends. Can you tell me what you want to use one for?

A watch first smartwatch

Attached: FC-750DG4H6.jpg (900x1200, 123K)

I use Amaz Fitbip with Gadgebridge to remove the botnet. Werks well and I usually get 28-30 days on a charge. It's nice when I get around 20-40 emails and about a hundred texts a day, just to know what's happening without pulling my phone out every time it vibrates. Wish it wasn't locked down and custom software was able to run on it.

>watch functionality
>able to read notifications easily in order to determine if it's worth getting/finding your phone
>health/fitness tracking
>other features like weather tracking, music and stuff like that would be nice
>long battery life

any watches/fitness trackers and/or apps that can track ice hockey as an exercise/sport other than apple gaywatch?

>Are these guys rebranded Xiaomi
It is Xiaomi. Xiaomi is basically an umbrella company. They invest in startups and connect small companies that produce quality stuff

>Sooo.. Are Garmin or Fitbit any good?
It all depends on the model (the price you pay for it)

>health/fitness tracking
This is the thing I bought my watch for. GPS tracking and routes are the shit

>mfw just bought a xiaomi botnet band to use purely as a vibrating alarm clock to wake me up in the morning

how badly did I fuck up, Jow Forums

Apple watch can't sync with Android phones. I was thinking of getting a Series 1 or 2 on the cheap but that's a deal breaker.

ive had a pebble steel since 2014 and a verizon wear24 back in january(a failed 300$ watch i got from ebay for 60$)
and i like the pebble more
the black and white calculator LCD screen is much easier to read even in bright daylight or a dark room
the buttons are nicer for quick no look actions like changing the song while driving
both pebble and verizon have stopped supporting their watch and it shows in the phone software today
the wear24 needs to be restarted if you take the watch off, walk away from it, come back and put it back on in order to reconnect to the phone (way more annoying when you have to live with it every day)
sometimes shit just doesnt work on both watches like music controls are gone
both have pretty customizable watchfaces
or at least nice ones people made that are pretty customizable

its sad that pebble is defunct now
not sad that verizon dropped the wear24
the wear24 is a big company trying to ride a wave with a generic copy of better smartwatches
and the pebble is a small company that eventually lost the race due to normies going "ew low res" "ew looks like a calculator" "ew black and white screen???" "ew square lol!"

Attached: watch.jpg (3024x4032, 1.93M)

I did the same recently, mainly to wake me up when I stay in hostels though without pissing everyone off.

I had a 1st gen pebble, it is/was an overrated piece of shit and it's good that they lost the race.

>tfw found a reason to buy a smart watch

Attached: Google+Maps+on+Android+Wear.png (1600x640, 376K)

what features do you need on a watch besides tell the time and control basic actions of your phone
i had the ability to text and call and search google with the wear24 and i rarely did it because it was just better to pull out my phone and do it 5x faster
i swapped back to my pebble because it lasts a week, easier to read in the daylight, no disconnect problem, and because i swapped out the watchband on the pebble to something easier and nicer (cant do that on the wear24 but im sure lots of smartphones can)

get a phone mount for your dash in your car and its better than this

i can see this being nice for on foot tho i do admit

Apple Watch Series 4 reporting in.

I'm a buthurt canuk tho, no EKG..yet

I literally have been using a Galaxy S6 for many years and it has a vibrating alarm. Have zero plans to replace it. You fucked up.

literally no need for a car in a city

>what features do you need
None, I just like watches.

a-are you strapping that to your wrist

i got one for my 20$/hour pizza job and it helps a lot
but the more i use it the less i need it cause i learn the roads so....
if i didnt like controlling my music from my wrist as much as i do then i would just get a normal watch
there is no reason other reason for a smartwatch for me

Just get a Garmin if you prioritize battery life and fitness tracking

check out AsteroidOS and grt one of the devices it supports

Which fitbit fitness watch is best?

The Charge 3 or Inspire HR?

Charge 3 is the best Fitbit

But there are probably other fitness trackers that are better than the charge 3.

Can anyone list them for me?

I thought almost all American cities had atrocious public transport, thanks to Ford.

Would I look retarded if I wear classic watch on my left and fitness tracker on the right hand? I know I would and I really like my watch. Such a pain.

yes, but you look retarded anyways so it's okay

Attached: 1392073457987.png (337x404, 196K)

I know but I want to believe I still have a chance. And I think that wearing analog watch with smartwatch is a point of no return. Like wearing sandals with socks or playing video games in public

this

these are $500 pieces of technology and i can't think of a reason or a use for them. quadcopter drone toys are literally more useful than smart watches because maybe if civilization collapses you could use it to carry a message to someone like a carrier pidgeon because the smart watch is $500 and can't even do that

oh, they automatically track your fitness? besides the fact that that is probably a front for the department of homeland security so the government can monitor the stress level of the population with a ridiculous level of granularity, what else do they do?

They'll useful for Xdrip+ but that's for broken people like me. I wouldn't wear one otherwise.

>It's just an extension of my phone, I fail to see how wearing a secondary display on my wrist is any worse.

advertisers know everything you're doing because it has a heart monitor. you're probably a pussy who has the opinion that nothing that you do is illegal so you don't care that you're being spied on, but every time you jerk that little dick to tranny porn you'd have to be a moron to think that the multi billion dollar industry obsessed with data collection at every level of granularity isn't matching your heart meter to your pornographic consumption history and building a full psychological profile

and that's not even getting into the government using that data for population control because the last time they did something like that was with television tracking boxes and most people still don't realize why the nielsen ratings system asks you questions about your consumer spending and home lifestyle

>smart watch
>good

they'll be good when they're better than regular watches, until then, they're a toy to sell to adults to make them stare at their wrist and look at the pretty colors because thats all it offers over a regular watch

>they'll be good when they're better than regular watches
define better. The purpose of a watch is to show time and these things are much more accurate than most watches

NYC, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, and a couple of other cities I can't remember have decent public transportation but by in large, most places in the USA have shit transportation.

Atlanta for example it can easily be an hour or two wait just to take a bus.

These things are only cool if you buy the popular chinese ones like the miband. I use a $20 i6 HR bracelet only for the phone notification buzzes and ability to read texts and emails on my wrist at a quick glance. It greatly reduces how much I'm looking at my phone. I turn off the automatic readings and sleep tracking to get 3 weeks of battery.

Your phone already has all the hardware. Getting a smartwatch with it's own SoC to do the same shit with a tiny battery is pointless.

Opinions on the Xiaomi Mi Band 3? Thinking of getting one for the gf so she can use it on her iPhone. Don't want to get her an apple watch if she doesn't even use the damn thing.

It's a bit big for a girl. She might not like how it looks.

>2 watches for multitasking

I want her to test run a watch to see if she even likes it. If she does I'll just get her a cheap series 2/3 apple watch and I'll keep the fitbit for myself.

I've bought her enough tech crap that she uses for awhile and then discards it or ignores it.

I preferred the honor band 4 due to the ability to track swimming sessions, but the xiaomi bands have more third party support (non existant with the honor band) and better battery life. I swim a lot, so it was more interesting to me, and it also looks a bit better. Also, the honor band has a better display under sunlight

>600$
>apple watch
you could at least be well informed, poojeet

>smart watches
What's the point of tracking fitness? Like
what
the
fuck
Just go to the gym, do your thing and go back. If you want to run, just plan your route and run. (I am aware that this might help people with some health conditions though)

The notifications thing or seems kinda useful but not useful enough to justify the price yet.

Where can I download this face?

Huh, looks almost extremely nice, but some key features are missing - always on display being the biggest one and a dealbreaker (I'm not getting a watch that doesn't even show the time). It also looks like it currently has no way to reply to messages/notifications - not a huge deal but sometimes, when I just wanna give a 2-3 word reply, it would be nice not to have to take my phone out.

It also seems that postmarketOS supports some watches, so I'll have to look into that.
