Should I buy the rift s, the vive, or wait?

Should I buy the rift s, the vive, or wait?

The Rift S is generally better than the Vive, only problem is more of a walled garden ecosystem, and it may cause problems for some with extreme interpupillary distances.

More like generally worse, especially if you're moving around.

I don't think I've seen a single actual reviewer that has tried both say that the Vive is the superior experience.

Valve Index

Reason: VR like any platform is all about the content and less about the technology, FB has piss poor strategy for content, Vive has no strategy for content and just want to push numbers, Valve is honestly only one that understands the whole ecosystem other than Sony but if you are going for PC then Sony isn't an option

Content isn't an argument for the Index because everything that will be available for it will be available for other headsets as well. SteamVR is an open platform.

>Content isn't an argument
But it is if your competition is Facebook and Sony, SteamVR partners excluded, but there are what, HTC and????

what's the point of that picture?

You should ignore VR altogether. You know what they say on /v/: VR is a meme gimmick fad that is already over.

Do whatever has the highest resolution because that's pretty much the only important thing

You should keep a close eye on VR. You know what they say on /vg/: VR is here to stay

Its fun for a day or two then you go back to playing games on your big screen tv.
Sure its puts you in the game but, its more work.
Setting it up can be a hassle, getting connected and staying connected, updates and etc.
Its nice just not so nice you want to bother with it most of the time.

quest and rift s are supposedly a much better experience setting up and getting in and out of. i'm planning on at least trying my 2D games on a virtually bigger screen

What if you just want to use it for porn and movies?

get a 3dof system like go or gear

Get vive, upgrade to index parts when you'll feel like it. I'd do that, but i'm going on the lowest budget possible, so i'll probably get an used rift CV1 instead.

I just want a vr headset for cockpit games like MechWarrior 5 and flight games like project wingman. I don't give a shit about the VR stuff that requires me to stand in the middle of a room and move around. Which one should I get?

HP Reverb. Top tier headset with garbage tier motion controls, perfect for people who only want vr for cockpit stuff or multimedia.

buy a used windows mixed reality headset

>heavily backordered and pretty costly
The absolute fucking state of nu Jow Forums
Terminate your host process right now faggot and if you're just assblasted cause you are a poorfag that can't afford the Index don't bother everything else is dogshit compared to the Index.

If you don't want quality and you're interested in budget solution that's widely supported, Rift DK2 is stupidly cheap now.

Do these have head tracking?

wmr is inside out tracking and it's biggest drawback is it's ability in hand tracking, hp reverb is the newest one and reviews say it's comfortable and has amazing screens. dk2 is a developer kit that you probably don't want

Underrated headset that no one mentioned yet: samsung odyssey +, so far the only headset with decent anti Screendoreffect technology. I myself own a regular samsung odyssey and its perfect for casual gaming, and already has way better image quality then oculus rift. But look up through the lens comparisons to the new odyssey +, it looks pretty impressive and if your in the us its fking cheap

Nobody talks about the Odyssey because it's a clunky and uncomfortable piece of shit. It's literally twice as heavy as other headsets. As amazing as the screen may be, it's not something you want strapped to your face.

The Reverb blows it out of the water anyway.

>big screen tv

casual consoltard detected

I had two VR headsets in the past, the Vive and a shitty Samsung one. Neither were particularly mindblowing and both were just used for porn in the end, which got old fast.

Ignore VR until it gets more advanced, really.

...

I would get the Rift S because Oculus did what Microsoft didn't on the WMRs, adding extra cameras to fix the controller tracking issues.

That's because most of the retarded reviewers only spend a little amount of time and mostly stand in one place. Hell there are fucking retards that review VR headsets sitting down.

Tracking is far superior on the vive and you don't get motion sickness as easy with the higher FPS.

There are reasons the Index decided to stick with vive's lighthouses and it isn't just because they had a partnership with HTC.

You can add all the cameras you want but it won't fix the fact that your body still blocks the cameras from tracking a large range of bigger motions.

>he buys VR for the games
>he hasn't experience VR porn yet

yeah sure

if its between the vive and the rift get the rift for the controllers alone, the vive controllers are a shitshow and don't even have proper grip buttons

Used Vive + Knuckles controllers will give you a way better experience than a Rift for a similar price.

Attached: cirno bsod.png (332x199, 128K)

its not even close to being a similar price lol.

but yeah knuckles are good but personally I'd never bother buying valve hardware because they just ship abandonware.

Never supported or done a V2 of anything they ship

I'm finding full Vive kits on Ebay for $200.
Knuckles can be preordered at $280.

$480 compared to $400 for a new Rift S is a similar price, yeah.

3DTV.

who's still pushing for 3DTV?

I want to get a pimax for that super high res. We need more vrkanojo type material too.

It's alive?

Rift Vive and WMR will nosedive in price when Index comes out, especially WMR
Wait for the Index release to get any headset lole

Samefag jojposters?

rift s is a normie downgrade

vive + the knuckles or sword sense is the best bang for buck

index is just a glorified vive

Not true, many VR reviewers are very experienced and know exactly what and how to test for to get a good view of the capabilities of the whole headset from an enthusiast's perspective. I haven't heard anyone complain about the Rift S's tracking quality, except in outdoor conditions where the lighting is wrong.
