Scroll lock is just there to piss you off from time to time. Nothing that can't be achieved by pressing Page Down once in excel and then the down arrow.

Num Lock on a full keyboard is more annoying though.. Press 7, clip Num Lock, not looking at screen or keyboard but instead looking at numbers I was typing, suddnly shit is all over the place.

I removed its binding to Capslock and set it to the Hyper key so I could add more keybindings. I admit Capslock is a hard key to hold while hitting keybinds.

In DOS times, most people controlled the mouse pointer with the arrow buttons (mouses were exepnsive af). So to avoid the whole page scrolling up/down instead of the mouse pointer, they had to use scroll lock.

It still does essentially the same thing in modern command line terminals and spreadsheet software like Excel, and some KVM switches use it for hotkey combos; that's really about it

Numpad shouldn't be removed completely. It should be moved to the left side of the keyboard instead.

You can use it to forcibly pause the scrolling of terminal output.

i use capslock a lot, i don't like holding shift. BUT I GUESS I COULD

Holding the shift key while typing gets in the way of typing properly as typing properly involves using the pinkies. Rather than dropping Caps, remap it to Ctrl.

While I am all for numpad (only manchildren who haven't worked a day in their life don't need it), why are you doing Google's work? Install Buster and forever be done with it.

when youre in a command line interface, pause just stops shit from being output onto the screen while you hold it down and scroll lock does the same thing except its a toggle.

at first I was pretty mad with myself for getting a tenkeyless board, and I got an addon numpad. turns out I made the right choices by accident because now I can have it on the left, despite being right-handed. I get a numpad without it pushing my keyboard or my mouse where I don't want them.

Been using a TKL and honestly I'm missing the vertical enter key more than the numpad.
