You can't do anything, ANYWHERE, even in some thirdworld shithole where most people don't have smartphones, without someone recording it and putting it on the internet.
How were Apple, Samsung and the CIA so successful in creating a global mass surveillance system that pays for and maintains itself?
I went to Thailand and did neither visit a prostitute nor even a stripclub. How cringe am I?

it's a way to get soft-core porn on youtube which is a problem because I guess """parents""" give their children tablets with unfettered access to the internet. Imagine if you got that sort of internet freedom at ~6 years old--you might end up on 4channel, which would explain the content on /v/ and Jow Forums, actually...

I wish smart phones were a thing back in my H.S days, before all crackdowns. The fun I coulda had. The videos I coulda taken. Sadly all that came of age after my time.

It doesn't fucking matter anymore. Your child will either end up a capeshit loving demigender whateverthefuck twinkletoe or a nazi LARPing weebshit. Internet was a mistake, no government in history has been able to JUST a generation so much as the internet has allowed a generation to do so to itself.

our entire society is not ready for the amount of connectivity and information we have to deal with, and for some reason it keeps constantly increasing. it makes me wonder if society isn't heading towards stratification into a group of scared, weak, mindless consumers that don't understand the world around them and a bleak and tepid upper crust that lord over the last vestiges of human civilization and make jokes about how they turned into some fucked up postmodern version of HG Wells Time Machine

Then your kid will become addicted to dota and is going to be a worthless parasite to your family. Make sure you cut the power to his PC after he feeds his lane and ruins my game you brown piece of shit
this is a really good read. but i have a refutation
we easily have the technology to allow people living today to live with more or less the same standard of living without some shadow government bullshit while simultaneously mitigate climate change. the problem is that nobody actually sells the solution, because the solution is to STOP CONSUMING
the mindless consumption apparatus is the problem. i know you're not gonna stop people from selling fidget spinners but we're at the point that we're engineering things to fail so people buy more of them. you need to get people into the mindset of NOT CONSUMING
that's it. that's all it takes. don't buy things that you know are going to break. buy things that you know are going to last. don't buy brands because you think it will change other people's opinion of you, because it won't. we're stuck in this corporate hellscape and have to buy things at wal mart sometimes but if enough people make it difficult for the machine to work in the way it's working, it's going to have to change. STOP CONSUMING.
Mason Martin
That's one hell of a simplification. You should keep in mind that there's no economics/philosophy in your if/else statements, so read up on that one.

Not consuming seems like the answer but the shit thing is, that it seems the political and economical system does not allow it. When people have mostly all they want and buying stops, stock markets crash and everything goes to shit. Even though objectivelly nothing changed.
For example I thought, what would I rather have 500k or a house that looks like what you would imagine a 500k house looks like? I would rather have the house, it's a nice house and if some people say the house is now worth 0$ it's an inconvenience, but I still have a nice house. Material things are more important than a number. But numbers cause panic and the end of consumerims seems to lead to bad numbers.
Hudson Allen
The internet and cell phones have had clear negative effects. People are more isolated than ever before which is demonstrably bad for our monkey brains. Facebook makes people feel like shit and it's best to stay off it. Social media in general has increased polarization.
