My mum got the Xperia 10 (the low end cousin) and it is a really comfortable phone to use.

Doesn't need to be edge-to-edge just a better screen-to-body than e.g. the iPhone 5 or 6 body styles.

Basically the Aquos Crystal but up to date.

I don't mind bezels myself but they could even thin them down a bit and retain the thickness, ports etc and it'd still be a great phone. It's the "muh thin" cancer that's really killing phones

The XZ1c still holds up if you don't mind sticking with Oreo. Pie is absolute garbage on it, but that's probably Google's fault and not Sony's.
