64-core Threadripper 2 when?

I want off this Intel ship

Zen+ is THREADRIPPER 2, you dumb fuck.
Zen 2 is THREADRIPPER (official name inside AMD is THIRDRIPPER) Mark III.

And as for your question - wait for October.

Zen3 threadripper 3000 q3/q4

what could you possibly be doing on a desktop that needs so many cores

Do you really need that many cores? Zen2 8c/16t at 4.5-4-6 GHz wont be enough for you? What about 12c/24t?

>64 cores? What do you need 128 cores for? 256 cores ought to be more than enough for anyone? Buy our 4-way SMT enabled Zen 3!

Open VMs and watch porn.

64Cores would already be 128Threads, i mean it's great and all but what the fuck can you do at your home with so many cores?

Emerge in seconds

Game at 120fps with a million tabs open in FF and all kinds of streaming meme discord shit open in the bacground and seed torrents and run a web server and render 3d porn in blender and compile new packages with portage all at the same time

We need bigger CPUs. Imagine CPU the size of motherboard. Like entire backside is just one giant socket and free space at the front is filled with RAM slots.

Wow you must be rich to have 512 GB DDR4 Ram

3d rendering will take as many cores as you can get. Large amounts of CPU cores might actually be a more practical way to do fully raytraced real time graphics than GPUs. A single high end GPU is not that impressive at raytraced renders compared to a single 32c threadripper especially per watt. The problem is despite probably costing less to manufacture the thread ripper is expensive and you're only allowed 1 per PC. Intel and AMD keep high core count CPU prices artificially high to rape server customers. In comparison you can shove 3 or 4 high end GPUs in a PC for rendering.

If they made something like a 128 core rome cpu soldered to the board along with the ram like GPUs are I wouldn't be surprised if it could make GPUs pointless, most of the 256 threads would be used for rendering when in games but when not playing games you would have 256 general purpose threads for anything you want, they are easier to use than CUDA or openCL. You might need one HBM stack for high bandwidth but the CPU cache might be enough.

AMD's codenames are charmingly autistic.

H.H.

What a weird coincidence haha

Lots of VMs and dockers. I'm an integration engineer and have at minimum 15 accounts at once.

what is this...trying pee eye and hypeting option what user never have joy...

its sure that ddr 5000 coming much much over 2020, maybe 2025,but anyway so late that ryzen 3000 and even 4000 series cpu is old..
so i wonder and think....who 'leak' this kind hypeting and 'commercial' ' news' from ryzen cpu out?
i call it cheat and pee eye commercial.

bcoz, its sure and pure fact that ryzen 3000 series NOT offer nothing new cpu market and i mean different for ryzeb 2000.

when you read ryzen 3000 fact paper specs, its same as ryzne 2000 model...dunno why this hypeting..

well its typical for amd selling politics but i wonder why hardware site push out ALL it...hmm

i just ask, read specs both cpus, ryzen 2000 and ryzen 3000 and tell me.. write here, plz
WHAT is different. there none!
