Where to start?
-DEs are bloated by design
-Many programs I use depend on gtk, none depend on qt. If I were to use KDE I would need to install both.
-It's eye candy, the DE
-I'm perfectly fine with picking and choosing programs to create my own "DE"

I use openbox + LXpanel + st (+tabbed) + mc + feh + dmenu btw.

Ultimate experience is using those utilities to write your own scripts piping into them. You can write some insane shit with stuff and it is so fucking lightweight.
When i'm referring to utilities of cours i'm not referring to st, st with some added patched is a standalone perfect terminal

Fucking annoying k19.04 bug on Wayland. When I open Properties or any secondary windows, the modal window opens but Dolphin itself closes.

I use it on my desktoo. However on my laptop(s) i use i3 and i will replace it on my desktop too. Reasons:
1: idiotic defults
2: ugly as sin(still one of the least ugly lincuck de tho)
3: shit tiling
4: slow(much better than windblows tho) 5: memory hog
6: can be really fucking unstable when using 3+ displays and multiple graphics cards
7: customizing it is awkward for multiple reasons, too lazy to list them but for example setting up a config repo to automatically configure fresh installs is a nightmare compared to i3
8: silly toolbar system(drag and drop? Wtf)
Basically babys first DE. Its not horrible(i actually like it much better than gnome) but not very elegant to use

lxde, xfce, gnome, mate, dwm are all better

opening new dolphin windows is far from snappy, that's pretty much the only gripe I have apart form retarded defaults

If I'm bothering with a DE, XFCE or bust these days.
If I'm not, Window Maker is ideal if I'm on a machine with a real mouse instead of clickpad bullshit, IceWM otherwise.
