Only times I've ever found dual monitors useful is when I have to constantly alternated between two windows, or when I watch a video while working, but even then I'm mostly listening.

With dual monitors it's like you can never tell which monitor something will appear on, and that unpredictable nature kinda irritates me.

I've always just liked having a single, narrow monitor with decent resolution, and usually a laptop on the side for a secondary function.

At Work i have one as Main Monitor in Front of the Keyboard, one with the Same size on the left side, and the smaller Laptop Screen to the right Just for Outlook.
At Home i have a smaller desk and cant really sit in Front of one Screen, thats why i'm going top replace my 2 22" Screens with one 38" ultrawide.

You need a reference for more than just code. Data to input, visual reference of what the output should look like, code structure, a list of changes... when you actually work you'll learn that.

Fuck you, at work, I've usually got Excel, Outlook, one or two instances of Patran, maybe Catia, maybe Word, maybe PowerPoint, and a few PDFs and Windows Explorer instances open simultaneously. I'm mad that my company won't give anyone a triple monitor setup, but I'd go postal if anyone took away my second monitor.

It all depends if you can get used to working with 2 monitors. I went from 2 monitors back to 1 because I could not get used to it.

Not yet, but there are plenty of uses for them all. Dedicated monitors for terminal, IDE, various schematics, documentation. Often very useful. I only have 2 lonitors at work but there are times where 5 would be very helpful.

Not much yet. Sometimes youtube streams will error out on my x86 PCs but work just fine on ARM so sometimes that. I tries using it as a universal Synergy server for all my other systems but the lag was too much. Planning on maybe pihole or some other always-on type of server.

I also didn't know they were glossy when I bought them but they're really not as bad as you might think.

I cant pull my desk away from the wall and because its bolted in. The dual monitor stand I use has to clamp on the desk, so i had to attach it to the back corner on the side and so i have one monitor in front and one to the side and it fucking sucks.

I feel like a lot of >1 monitor setups are pretty useless since most people aren't actually doing >1 thing at a time, but I've found my triple monitor setup to be pretty useful. I'm a grad student who's usually running at least one, sometimes multiple, simulations and I find it helpful to have them open on my side monitors in order to keep an eye on them.

Basically this, for everything. Dual monitors allows you to have one monitor devoted entirely to the single program you're focusing on, and another monitor for any kind of reference you may need. It makes you much more productive because you're not constantly alt-tabbing.
