I assume I would "simply" need to treat the room with acoustic paneling on the ceiling (and possibly rugs on the floor) to decrease the reverb significantly? I want to kill the sound as soon as it enters the room.
I'm also looking at soundproofing the ceiling using HEAVY MASS of some kind (maybe gypsum boards), but I don't really know what to pick.
(yes, I know the difference between acoustics panels and things are actually meant for sound-proofing)

Since the rent, apt, and area is good otherwise I'd like to stay, but I also want to reduce noise.

M50X are the same headphones without the bass emphasis. Get M40X + ZMF cowhides if you don't want to step out of your comfort zone and have something great.

T2 soundstage it's overrated as fuck in comparison to the supposedly less soundstage on those T3. After a week of use I truly prefer the T3 sound signature over the T2s. Much more balanced, and with better clarity overall than T2s. So for any other user asking about those 2, only buy the T2 if you can't afford the 55usd of the T3.
