I mean, the surface is a beautiful computer but i've gotten into Linux and have concerns over it's long term. It's a bit like the Dell XPS 13, something just feels.... right. about it.

t. Someone who doesn't have any taste in aesthetics at all. My skin is olive and the surface laptop is red, not brown. You need to get your eyes checked. This mouse works just fine for what I'm doing, I'm not a gaymer. Surface laptop 2 is the sexiest laptop on the market and will actually make me friends, unlike your Thinkpad which makes you look creepy outside a computer class.
