Would a 1070/1080 used be better? they can be found for 200/300 bucx respectively

who here 1660 ti?

Really up to you

Yep, I just copied from my file without bothering to update. The point is.. just waitTM

I live within 25 minutes of a Microcenter, hence I'll be using them for my upcoming Zen 2 purchase to get that sweet, sweet bunduru on an X570 mobo.

Do they do pre-orders for the bundle, or how does that work? This is my first time buying a CPU on launch.

Just purchased a 2070 and I’ve got a shit monitor. Any recommendations for something that goes on sale often?
$150-300 range.
I game and do art related work.
1440p, 144hz. Just needing the color not be all that noticeably different from camera to monitor.

Or any suggestions thinking I could do better with purchasing.

i just bought this for 60 bucks because I have an I7-6700 non-k (6th generation). i've been having ethernet/lan/wifi issues; never able to establish a connection with the internet, even with an ethernet connected. i'm guessing it's the motherboard, which is an old B150 Bazooka MSI.

before I spend $300+ on a new motherboard and a new processor (maybe AMD since Intel seems to be shitting the bed lately) I wanted to at least get a motherboard upgrade that can host my current CPU so I can see if that was truly the issue. and if not, we'll see about further troubleshooting or doing the upgrade.

please tell me if I made a good decision.

Based off of AMD history I’d wager that they’ll wait a few months before release. We already know motherboards are being produced for the Zen 2. You’ll have plenty of time to take in all the advertisements and promotions of the Zen 2. You’ll find out soon enough.

So right now i have a ryzen 5 2600x and a rx 590 with a 1080p 144hz monitor. Wish i saw the monitor advise before i built mine.

I need advise on what to do now. Im thinking of selling my monitor and rx 590, buying an rx vega 56 and get an IPS monitor. I dont care about fps. Should i go for a 4k 60 fps monitor? Or should i just keep my graphics card, use this as a second monitor and buy a 1080p 60 fps ips monitor as my main one?

Vega 56 is a good choice for 1080p/144hz.

i dont care about fps im fine with 60 fps, my current pantel is a TN and its shit, my 6 year old 100 euro ips panel looks twice as good

go with a 1440p/144hz IPS panel then, it'll last you through your next GPU upgrade too

idk about 1440p, i heard next gen consoles are going for 4k? is 4k 60fps truly no option?

I made another build following your suggestions, is this better? Would you change the R590 for a 1660 like in the OP?
pcpartpicker.com/list/yYCRr6

Old build for reference
pcpartpicker.com/list/s3BzJ8

Like I said before some stuff isn't optimal because I'm going by what's available in local stores.

Attached: AMD.png (1324x914, 94K)

Look man, Vega 56 is a decent 4k/30 GPU, but it just can't handle 4k/60.

Making a build, i mostly will be doing 3D modelling/Zbrush/renders

Should I wait till July when the new Ryzen 3000's are supposedly out?

4K for consoles isn't real 4K. Consoles use dynamic scaling, meaning they drop the resolution on the fly, when the frame rate is going to take too much of a hit. Not to mention they target stable 24-30 FPS. Also, remember that 1080p consoles were running on upscaled 900p and console 4k is just upscaled 1800p. 1440p / 144hz is a much better and more realistic option to target as a PC gamer. You have both the benefit of better pixel density and higher refresh rates as mid-range GPUs (like the RTX 2060 or Vega 56) can output enough frames even on ultra, even in the latest AAA titles, usually around 50-90 FPS. There's no point in buying a 60Hz monitors nowadays. 144Hz panels both for 1080p and 1440p are extremely affordable and when you have a good CPU and GPU then there's no point in getting bottlenecked by your antiqued screen. If you really want to target, 4k 60FPS then you have to be ready to purchase: GTX 1080 TI / Radeon VII / RTX 2080 / RTX 2080 TI. In my opinion 4k is not worth the money you need to spend when 1440p / 144Hz is a much better alternative.

Xbox one x has real 4k

>chipset fan
why

Nevermind I changed the mobo and put in a M.2 SSD instead of 2.5''
pcpartpicker.com/list/DJ9DP3

Sure it can, at least on 4k60 low-med settings with fxaa

I'm working on an Xbox One game right now. Xbox One X has real honest to god 4k.

nvme ssd in sli heat up the chipset apparently

pcpartpicker.com/list/fdQHP3
I just wanna know one thing: which Keyboard/Mouse combo is best for this setup?

What's the fucking point, then.

>nvme ssd
>in sli

Why would you do this, let alone on a consumer platform?
X399 managed without a fan.

PCIe 4.0, though

>have literally everything but the case, mobo, and cpu
i need
the best airflow case
i have the shittiest 2080 ti
please tell me

i was thinking either of these

Lmao my retarded ass my bad
I don't know.

Guys will the upcoming RX 3080 card be good for 2k gaming with 60 fps in mind?

The guy with the crystal ball is Vietnamese, so he's probably still asleep.

They didn't outright say that they were targeting 4k60 ultra. I don't know why people assume they will go for maximum graphics settings since they never did for the ps3 and ps4.

hmm, but how is 1440p? doesnt it get really shitty if you play a game that doesnt support that resolution?

too long didnt read bro, i specifically said NEXT GEN consoles so i want to know if i can be prepared for that, if i buy a 1440p monitor now im screwed if i get a ps5

Does anyone know where I can buy dummy/fake NVMe SSDs?

I want to use them for display and sometimes for keeping dust out of M.2 ports, but unlike hard drives (especially considering I already have a bunch of old HDDs), this is still a bit too expensive with SSDs.

Really now?

Yes? Is there a problem? I want to set up a display without using expensive/useful parts where necessary (such as using dead motherboards and CPUs that I have lying around).

Most of the leaked X570 boards, and all the high-end ones, have fans on the chipset. What possible architecture or design change could cause the southbridge to run so hot?

Attached: 3-min-13.jpg (800x490, 71K)

What process are the southbridge chipsets made in?
Still 55nm?
Why don't they make them in the low power zen node instead?

>rbg eyecancer
>fake carbon fibre
>tons of garbage over airflow-critical parts
I miss back when high-end boards looked like a crude oil refinery with maze of copper heatpipes everywhere.

Next gen consoles build on BASED AMD Navi and Zen2 will make PC gaming irrelevant.

I'm not sure that we know.

To answer your last question, my guess would be cost + production volume, neither being reasonable enough for mobs. Could be wrong though.

Yeah, there was a period where we had high-end boards that looked high-end, weren't too bland, but weren't over-the-top with RGB and other airflow-destroying eyesore trash.

As someone who games on both PC and consoles: no they absolutely will not. People have been spewing this dumb narrative for years and it has yet to happen. If anything, PC gaming is MORE relevant now than it has been for years.

Depending how serious the art is, you're probably looking for an IPS panel. The 144Hz IPS are expensive, especially at 1440p

It's fine, but you should have just bought a PCIe ethernet adapter

Best advice is to go to a store and look at the monitors in person before buying.

I just got Micron E-die RAM but I have a couple questions, I just did this OC on it and I was curious how much farther do you think I can go? This is the RAM in question:

newegg.com/p/N82E16820164125

And if I mainly game, is it better to keep the timings XMP and raise the MHZ instead or just tighten the timings?

Thanks ahead of time, anons

Attached: Ryzenchecker2.png (507x732, 25K)

Which version of the 2080 is best in the $800 range? No more than 850 as the absolute max please.

I just got 2x8 gb Ballistix 3200 MT/s ram.
CPUID is detecting less than 1200 MHz.
Should i be worried? I feel like somethings not right.
BIOS said 2400 MHz too.

Any triple fans that isn't zotac or some chink shit. I recommend EVGA.

What's the most compatible gpu for my old e8500? I need a low budget one, not the gaming kind, but at least can handle 1080p resolution (video and other uses but not gaming).

Attached: 1495379471740.jpg (323x297, 17K)

It should be detected as 1600 MHz in cpu-z.
Enable XMP in your bios.

Go to the DRAM settings in your BIOS and turn on XMP instead of Auto.

Maybe i'm retarded, but i think EVGA only has dual fan ones, at least on Amazon.
How about the Asus Strix, is it actually good or just a marketing meme?

Asus cards are very good too but expensive

I miss the truly absurd motherboards that couldn't decide if they were for workstation or gaming.

Attached: top[1].jpg (1680x1618, 1014K)

If I have an 8gb RAM? what happens if I put a second RAM that's nothing to do with the first one?

What if it's the same company )crucial) but not the same whatever else it needs? will they learn to work together as friends?

Attached: 1415220884603.gif (500x282, 1.05M)

rakuten.com/shop/dell/product/s2719dgfsap/?sku=s2719dgfsap
I got this one the other day as a second monitor ( using it as my main to test freesync over my 1070, my other one was a dell gsync and they both seem to perform the same and look great for tn.) and it works with gysync even though its not listed as compatible you turn it on with nvidia control panel you need a display port cable which mine didnt come with. Dell is also selling this one too.

They look great for tn. I find IPS so bright that it could give me eye strain i turn down the brightness even on these tns and they perform better compared to ips but yes worse color and blacks as expected

Could cause issues because of different timings but the main thing that will happen is both RAM sticks will run at the lowest frequency of the two chips, so make sure you buy the same frequency.

Would be best to get the exact same RAM if you can.

Both will run at the lowest shared speed. IE 2400MHz and 3000MHz RAM will run at 2400MHz. All modern RAM brands work together without issue.

thanks boys, didnt have XMP in my bios cause AMD instead of intel, but bios had something that did the same thing, cpu-z is showing 1600 now.

fuck gamers and fuck white people

reddit is over there friendo

So much for the tolerant left.

Is there any point in getting an x570 mobo over an x470? I've been out of the loop for a while since I sold my 1700X setup but am planning a new mitx AMD build. I was going to wait for the 3000 series but am really itching to build and thought I might as well get a x470 mobo paired with a 2600X for now and just upgrade the CPU in a couple of months or whenever the next series is out.

Are there any real benefits of the x570 that you won't get with the x470? I saw the announcement for the MSI mobo which had a fucking fan and was under the impression that it's only necessary for super fast NVME Raid and stuff like that but will there be any real upgrades for normal usage (browsing and gaming)?

LMAO. bet you have 9900k in your rig

have sex

Hey guys, my old comp had a problem with crashing completely unexpectedly.
If i went into event viewer, it would give me a
"Critical Kernel-Power 41 error. The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

Now im reusing my old psu in my new build, and the error happened twice so far.

Im worried the psu is being overworked, but theres no way in hell i was using 600w with my old build, so i doubt that was the issue then.

Maybe something is getting wonky power, like the 8pin motherboard connector.

On cpu-z my core speed is jumping from 2700 MHz to 4200 MHz, dont know if thats normal. core voltage generally sticks to 1.4v, with very minor jumping around.

bitch i have an amd fx-6300. You cant shame me, i dont know that word.

will a Ryzen 1600 bottleneck a RTX 2060??

X570 will definitely have far better power delivery to support the new 12c and 16c. As far as features go, you'll have to wait for reviews of x570 boards.

need a quality 4TB HDD
is the Toshiba x300 any good?

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
Nigger please, I have a Phenom II. Get on my level, fuckboy.

Did you reset CMOS first? Is your old PSU good?

Would also help to list your parts to get an idea of wattage.

No idea about that one but try to buy enterprise-/server-grade hard drives when getting into bigger sizes. They tend to be more reliable (and the price difference isn't very much any more).

My computer works fine.

k.

do you have any knowledge on the barracuda pro or the ironwolf pro?

is it worth waiting for tomorrow's amd announcement?? I want to buy a PC now!!!

Honestly, I've never used a 4TB+ drive. Seagate used to be my go-to brand but they've been kinda crap lately.

I recall one of them (UltraStar, I think) was suggested to be avoided. Ironwolf Pro SHOULD be decent. Not 100% sure though.

Someone over on the buildapc plebbit can probably tell you though. Too bad the mods are cunts (and some of the users too because it's redshit).

Depends on what you want but... hell yes it's worth waiting.

thanks for the info, never used reddit and wont make an account for such a question
gonna read more reviews
thanks again

Might not be the psu. Since you basically ruled that out with the other PSU.
I had a similar issue and found that one of my cables from the psu was fucked.
One of the pins were damaged.
It would just unexpectedly crash like you so I'd advise having a look at your connectors.
It may very well be the mobo.

two quick questions:
Should I look for NVMe SSD or is SATA still ok?
Is the difference between 3000MHz and 3200MHz RAM noticeable in gaming?
Cheapest good semimodular/modular PSU? Looking for the 550-750W range.

Attached: 1419221345910.jpg (524x568, 38K)

will it actually be a 99$ CPU that can run all my games?

Vega 56 is good for that, and the 3080 is supposed to be a Vega 64 and then some (+20% iirc) so you'll be fine

Is there really a noticable difference between 1ms & 4ms?

Attached: 1557298654853.jpg (934x985, 128K)

Nope.

I just bought 2 huge WD Black drives to replace my, like, 5 old drives that are all failing.

How do I decide what to put on each drive?
What should I name each drive?

NOP marketing meme

why are pc gamers in so much denial? The xbox one x has plenty of native 4k games. It's not 2010 anymore.

Yes. I can see the difference between 2 and 4. Mines 5 right now but its a nice 4k screen so I put up with it. 5 is the limit.

You want minimum true latency, so realistically CL14 with as much frequency as you can get. Also a guy just did this:
reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/bt2wwi/3200c12_with_micron_rev_e_on_a_1950x/

Given that we know at least 3600/x are in the hands of reviewers and the announcement is just over 15 hours away, the lack of leaks is pretty fucking disturbing.

That's damn impressive that they're running 4k30 on a rx570 equivalent gpu

I think I'm having some wiring issues. This isnt my first rodeo but I'm sure I'm fucking something up. When I plug it in, everything lights up like it'd be idling, but when I go to turn it on there's a fizzle and a snap like some small explosion happened leading me to think it short-circuited or something though I may be wrong. I unplugged everything on the MB and disconnected the PSU entirely and plugging it back in had all the lights turn on like before, and the turning it on again caused the same thing. I didn't notice exactly WHERE it happened, but I don't want to press my luck and risk breaking it all. Anyone willing to help?

>"Plug and play"
>Compact hardware

If you aren't completely broke or a retard there aren't too many reasons not to go with PC and that's not even scratching the surface of what a PC is capable of outside of gaming. If all I wanted were pretty pictures I'd just watch a fucking movie or go outside.

Attached: 1542719328623.jpg (540x437, 244K)

It could be. I replaced it because I wasn't sure WHY my old one wasn't turning on and the first thing most people say is the PSU. Nobody said it could've been the MB when that's exactly what was wrong. (Nobody here at least, other people on less informed sites and boards.) I still have my old EVGA 650 GQ. I'll replace it and let you know, see if I can't see what's popping while I'm at it.

Attached: 1556168140499.png (322x395, 201K)

Yes. But don't trust numbers that are listed in specs.
Use your eyes with this testufo.com/ghosting
Or use actually hardware to measure the ms.

But to put it simply, yes there is a visible difference in 1ms vs 4ms.
And that difference is more easy to spot, the faster the scene/movement is happening. So at a still image there is literally zero difference, and if you are panning fast, it's easy to spot.
I hope that answers your question accurately.

There's ultrawide too, want to try that when I build a new rig. Probably not going to go for that superultrawide or whatever, that's just ridiculous.

Oh also, could that problem happen if was a retard and plugged one of the front panel cords (audio jack, microphone, reset button, etc.) into the wrong space?

Same thing happened BUT, I found the offender. It was short-circuiting or at least there was an arc flash at where my PSU connects to my GPU. But seeing as this worked perfectly fine before, any idea what could be causing it to do this?

lots of whispers about r5 3600 being 6c12t
