This is the official thread for the upcoming AMD keynote, delivered by mommy Su in 7 hours.
Rumors so far
>steve from hardware nexus says there will be no details on zen 2, only x570 >adoredtv backpedaling on his 5ghz claim >some guy from pudget systems said they have a ryzen 3000 6 core for testing >leaked benches suggest a 13-15% IPC improvement over Zen+ >rumors navi will be unveiled
That's a huge IPC jump compared to Intel's usual 3-4%.
You also can factor in another ~10% increase due to frequency boost.
Isaiah Powell
Will this help lower gpu prices?
Adam Ward
Wait for Zen 3
Jose Hughes
>compared to worse case scenario
Nathaniel Hall
At 4 AM I'll be sound asleep.
Joshua Kelly
Same, hopefully.
Joseph Smith
>wageslaves
Carter Morris
>steve from hardware nexus says there will be no details on zen 2, only x570 They already showcased a CPU in January, and there are more and more supposed leaks and benches surfacing. How much longer do they wanna delay an official unveil?
James Phillips
So that they can do it during E3 for the GAMMERSS community as oppose to the tech community.
Thomas Bailey
Gamers Nexus posted that we are unlikely to see Zen2 details today. AMD is most likely waiting until E3.
Carson Price
This fucking AdoredTV fraud got exposed hard today. I seriously hope none of you ever pay attention to what he says in the future.
I'm betting something fell behind schedule somewhere in the development process and we are seeing the downstream effect of that. X570 is a big fat nothing so AMD should probably at least give us a teaser regarding the new CPUs, whether it's a die shot or a new benchmark of the 16C or something.
Jackson Bailey
The adoredTV leak was full of red flags to begin with.
Most obvious being the APUs on 7nm instead of 12nm. Binning demands they stay a step behind.
Zachary Lopez
>having an unsane sleeping schedule
Gabriel Parker
8 hours sleep master race
Jace Bailey
>going to sleep at 5 AM >waking up at 12 PM
Nothing wrong with that. Nothing gets done in the mornings anyway.
Joseph Wood
"oyroite goys how's it going, so it turns out that I've been wrong about some things"
Landon Russell
Do I stay awake until 3am to watch the keynote…? I'm pretty tired after election day.
Cameron Barnes
>tfw going to sleep at 6am and waking up at 5pm I wish I could sleep at normal times like everyone else
Isaiah Moore
Not worth it. And you will more likely be staying up until 3:30-4am because AMD will talk about boring shit for the first half and leave any big news until last. Get a good night's sleep and you'll probably be glad you didn't stay up.
Tyler Bell
future buyer's remorse thread.
Liam Williams
Your browser still works after they disabled hyperthreading?
>disabled hyperthreading literally nobody is disabling HT, and there's no need to. These "vulnerabilities" don't matter unless you are running VMs. Browsers already removed high precision timers to prevent JS exploits (which there are no public PoCs for).
as much as I want 16c 5ghz, more than likely we'll see 4.7ghz maximum in this lineup. 16c on mainstream will be pretty cool though, but the 12c 5ghz with +15% IPC dream might not come true
Jackson Gutierrez
kind sirs pls delete and subscribe for more leaks donate on patreon
>and there's no need to Except that the multithreading task management actually decreases performance if the physical cores aren't being fully utilized. No replacement for real cores.
Lincoln Torres
I'm probably one of the few who's looking forward to a new Video Core Next sip where improvement has been stalled for the past few generations.
Caleb Murphy
Yes. Or more of those dumb deals where you get 3 free ubisoft/ea games
Carson Cox
checked why would you get dementia from sleeping as long as you need?
I don't know who's a bigger faggot, GN clearly being extremely buttblasted that AMD didn't give a fuck about them, or Adored for clearly fucking lying left right and center.
Eli Turner
He never claimed that this generations apus were going to be on the 7nm node.
Leo Rodriguez
His charts highly suggest they're they same silicon
I can function on 5 but I read a shitload of sleep studies that makes me feel guilty if I don't get 8.
Isaiah Robinson
AMD doesn't want to advertise their 16c CPU as requiring 300W (5Ghz). So if they scale it back to ~4.5-4.7Ghz, they only need the power of ~180w-220w. Makes it much more manageable.
I think this might be same with 8c16thread @ 4.7ghz and at 105W, its likely we might see 5 Ghz Ryzen in overclocks and might consume ~150W like Intel's CPU does.
Liam Watson
>Inb4 mommy blueballs us again. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they didn't announce shit here. They're just going to talk about how wonderful their tech is and how some schools in Africa are using it to educate future doctors etc.. Then after this even they're going to post on their twitter >Tell you more about our wonderful upcoming CPUs at E3!
there's so much Sopa in this macaco, it shouldn't even be possible
David Sanchez
Probably this. The power requirements can go through the roof when you pump out those extra nigghurtzes. To be honest I don't really give a shit about the whole 5GHz region myself. I just want the either the 12/24 or 16/32 chip that can do 4.5GHz and I'm happy. Any higher than that and it's just extra.
This is what I was thinking too. I mean if they don't show us any of the CPUs here, they're going to have a pretty god damn empty show in their hands. I'd be fine seeing at least one of the finished chips being tested live or seeing a paper launch of some of them. That would give enough info for the tech nerds to draw conclusions and to compare them to the leaks to gauge the potential future performance of the higher end.
Jace Cook
Lisa better not blueball us by revealing only the lower end models. Give me the full lineup, clock speeds, core & thread counts, and launch prices!
Mason Sanders
Jow Forumsnessman here from I own 600 shares of AMD and I'm looking forward for this.
Ah ok. Well let's hope it will be as good as the 9900K.
Henry Ortiz
you thought wrong. this 10 to 20% IPC has been in the wild for a long time if you were paying any attention. Floating Point is said to be quadruple on average, from adored's analysis on rome, or doubled in the absolute worst case scenarios.
