I am planning to get a Redmi Note 5 plus. Anything better for similar price or something I should be aware of before buying it? Current phone is Redmi Note 2 but the battery is crapping itself while the buttons are getting too wonky for daily use. Mostly using it for website dev, browsing Jow Forums and reading manga.
>don't care about camera >don't care about games >long battery life will be a plus
Carter Hernandez
>no ghost touching screen another good reason to love the k20 pro over the oneshit 7 pro
Jeremiah Ward
Redmi Note 7
Ian Torres
>Redmi Note 5 plus. Uh, what? Did you mean - Redmi Note 5 Pro? Redmi Note 5 Plus doesn't exist.
Blake Torres
>Should I get the redmi k20(non pro) over the samsung galaxy a40/a50? Obviously. Apart from superior specs, it will also be developer friendly which isn't the case for Samsung's mid range devices. >And when will it come out in the uk? Europe launch is usually a month after the China/India one. >How much will it be?
Tyler Torres
k20 pro better release a global version with LTE bands 2, 4, 5, and 12
Connor Rodriguez
Thanks but its kinda expensive. From Malaysia if that helps.
Sorry man. Redmi Note 5. I mixed it up with Redmi 5 plus.
Anthony Turner
is the Mi A2's camera better than the Mi5? The A1 was very disappointing.
>6.39-inch OLED display (2,340 x 1,080) with 91.9% screen to body ratio >Snapdragon 855 >in-display fingerprint sensor >20MP pop-up camera >4,000mAh battery >27 watt fast charging >3.5mm headphone jack with Hi-Res Audio Support >SD card slot (Up to 512GB) >NFC >Dual band GPS >triple rear camera setup >48MP camera (Sony IMX586, f/1.75), 8MP 2x telephoto sensor (f/2.4),13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide camera (124.8 degree field of view) >960fps shlo-mo >starts at 2,499 yuan (~$362) >unlockable bootloader >Android 9.0 Pie >DC dimming
>No dual stereo :( >No IR blaster :'( >No Wireless Charging >No waterproof >Camera Meh (wait for GCam)
Don't get a Mi A2, Redmi Note 7 is around the same price and better in every way
Michael Miller
There must be something wrong with my brain.
I don't even care all that much about phones but I still like this general enough to check it daily.
Nicholas Lewis
NEVER SETTLE Is the camera really that bad? Or is it more of if it's not the pixel, a galaxy, or an iPhone, it's trash?
Dominic Harris
when do i know when it's the best time to buy a phone? mi 9 is only $384 right now but it's dropped like $100 in the last month alone, any ideas of when it'll stabilize?
Parker Myers
chink phone? no thanks. don't want to get left high and dry.
gcam will help it, we've seen that camera sensor absolutely humiliate iphone xs on other phones
Mason Myers
>No dual stereo :( Well, it would be of course nice to have, but smartphone speakers will always be garbage, so this is hardly a deal breaker. >No IR blaster :'( Shame. >No Wireless Charging No unfinished gimmicks? I'd count this as a pro, not a con. >No waterproof Again, nice to have, but definitely not essential. If it would've driven the price up - I'd say it isn't worth it.
Oliver Sanchez
>chink phone? And what isn't at this point genius? >don't want to get left high and dry. What are you talking about?
Julian Russell
Those shots look like shit.
Thomas Morgan
look on lazada. redmeme note 7 is rm670. note 5 is rm550. not that much difference. for burgers, that is $30 difference.
Matthew Watson
Fuck, shame
Carter Parker
Does it worth the RM100 difference though? I don't mind shelling out more if the battery and reliability is better.
Josiah Martinez
youtu.be/YmVe2tLQsxM It's the same sensor I believe and these are the differences software alone can make. Don't worry, the iPhone is nowhere near superior once working Gcam ports arrive. If you have the videos, please post them.
Ryder Adams
The camera software is gimped so it doesn't compete with Mi9, GCam will fix it.
Hunter White
fuck man. If this doesn't get global bands I'm going to be a very sadboi. I need this thing. The true OnePlus killer.
Charles Cooper
oneplus killed itself when it couldn't even put out a functional touchscreen.
Ian Reyes
So are we gonna have to wait a months for a global version or even an Indian one? I don’t really feel like getting the China rom and stung by customs.
Jace Cox
yes
Joshua Nguyen
>OLED Sorry but nope.
Adrian Bailey
Well, it was usually a month of waiting. Not that big of a deal and gives you time to save up money. I buy their devices only after custom ROM development has started.
Hudson Gray
What's the problem? I know people with S3s and S5s which didn't have burn-in. Just use reasonable brightness levels and that would be it. And it would be even easier to do so, because these are 600 nits screens. Can't speak about color degradation though.
James Flores
what are you retarded? oled is the preferred tech dumbass
>being unironically retarded lol, anus shills are 100% assblasted. their fun in the sun has been brought to a crushing end by xiaomi
xiaomi won 2019. this is proof, any response to this or further derogatory posts of OLED being inferior is just further proof of the anal savagery which occur to anus shills.
Noah Thomas
I'm going to miss trolling pubs with commercial channels on in the background. I'm guessing no recent phone has one either. As much as the sluggishness of my S5 upsets me, I'll miss some things it offered.
Asher Allen
LTE FDD:B1/B3/B5/B7/B8
;-; global version with bands 2, 4, and 12 when
Zachary Bell
That's problem with TV/Monitor not Phone. I had Amoled phone before (Gionee S Plus/Blu Vivo XL). Used it for 2 years. Never had a problem with display. Display quality was Pure Kino compared iPhone's Peasant LCD.
Brandon Hughes
Imagine buying anus phone after this

N-no micro SD card slot?
Isaac Martinez
Yes, Up to 512GB
Tyler Hughes
GSMArena just updated it and it says no micro SD card slot. I know they can be wrong with initial release specs, but the wording on Xiaomi's website is confusing too.
Hate to say it, but the s10e is back on the menu for me, along with the A series, the mi 9 se, and others :/. I thought I was out of dilemma territory.
Only idiot would preferred over-saturated screen more than quality IPS panel.
Elijah Gomez
thats just a dual-sim
Ryan Butler
What's the go-to phone right now with a unlocked bootloader, sdcard, 3.5mm jack, usb-c, no notch.
Thanks.
Gavin Hall
I have a dual sim phone where one slot can alternatively use a sdcard card.. Maybe it's similar?
Robert Butler
Redmi K20 Pro.
Landon Bennett
Thankyou! Glad I waited a year before settling for a notch mutant.
James Brooks
the second port of the tray looks different with those, so no
Michael Reyes
I don't see the mention of a sd slot on Xiaomi's page. Can anyone confirm?
David Jackson
Everything hints at there not being an sd card slot. I tried to look up a spec for a phone of theirs that has it for comparison, unfortunately I don't know their lineup that well, so I gave up. I wouldn't hold out much hope for it.
Caleb Wright
It has a sd slot, I just checked the official spec
David Wright
Redmi 7 page clearly indicates the presence of an SD slot, which means the K20 line doesn't have one.
Well done Oneplus, well done Asus, well done. Well done indeed.
HOWEVER
Julian Phillips
What's a nice bulky phone that's like 5 x 2.31 x .30 that's relatively cheap with atleast 6 gb of ram and a decent stock OS
Jordan Jenkins
I'd trade the pop-up front cam for an sd slot, tbqh.
Cameron Ross
youtu.be/RvVlThYBEQM This is the source video. The slots are different, so, there is a micro SD card slot?
Justin Howard
>256GB what do you need a microsd slot for?
Camden Cruz
Illegal shit. The only people who want easily swappable storage are the CPfags.
Grayson Barnes
Transferring files physically instead of some digital transport and protocol. 5s < 5m even with USB 3.0 and whatever the fuck else there is.
Ayden Scott
internal storage is faster and can be accessed via usb you big brainlet
Ryan Torres
>A month after china
so july?
Leo Sanchez
it's out rn in china
Jack Morgan
>can't ask chinkanons about the sd slot because everyone got banned and likely face public execution with the Tianamen square massacre meme text.
Goddammit Jow Forums
Tyler Hill
>take out of microSD adapter >open slot >*click* >10s read and index VS >plug in both ends of USB >open file manager of choice >no rsynch for u lol >wait for transfer Anyone who's ever transferred 10s of GBs will know that 6GB/s is a peak value for USB 3.0 and the ramp up and down is pretty bad on windows at least.
Ryder Bell
Got one for myself a couple of weeks ago, it's a nice phone, don't get me wrong, but if you're unlucky like me, you'll struggle a bit.
When I got it it had some shitty fake rom (aka vendor rom), so using the Test Point Method I put on the only official rom that I could, Chinese Developer. It kind of worked but it had a lot of bugs, like randomly saying there is no sim inserted when it had, or taking one minute to unlock, etc., but after weeks of updates, this week they finally fixed every major issue.
The camera is kind of shitty but everything else is nice, so go for it.
Ian Phillips
Not smartphone, but I'm starting to trust Xiaomi a lot more these days. They are using their expertise across the entire company into their various products.
Their new pro scooter just arrived, The packaging was top tier and the thing arrived without a scratch. This is despite a massive hole poking into the side of the box. Can't really trust Chinese shipping services.
