I'd prefer to keep my non-botnet, non-spyware, traditional eyes/glasses thank you

Why? So someone can spam ads in my uh eye or something why? What's wrong with our eyes?

>iEyes Updating...
>Something Happened :(

Replace my eyes, then hack them to have binocular vision, night-vision, infra-red, etc.

i'd rather get cybernetic eyes, would be dope to see different wavelengths, have information pop up on things, see in the dark (theoretically) and save/record things that happened.

if at all possible to do this sometime in the future, why the fuck wouldn't you..

> +6.5 / +7.0 dioptre
Give me the robo eyes already

also, hyper zoom, and if at all possible, xray vision.

if it's anything like that episode of black mirror, i'm fine with my eyes

I would only consider artificial eyes if my natural eyes stopped working or something.

It depends on how bad your eyes are dunnit? If you're practically blind no sort of cyber glasses are going to help.

one cyber eye and one cyber monocle

>glasses break
>replace for reasonable price

>eyes break
>have to go through expensive and painful surgery

>driving on the freeway at 60mph
>iEye starts to install update
>Die in crash

I keep getting eye floaters so I want to replace them

Why not both? Eyes for better focus and addition of zoom (and nothing else), glasses for information overlay.

Oh yeah, its because nobody is ever going to be able to afford it.

Why not integrate the glasses' functions into the eyes?

>modern self driving car systems and future systems will be incorporating more and more high power laser beams that damage optical sensors
>better make my eyes fully digital

my vision gets worse every year, so i look forward to these magical replacement eyes.

>Someone starts spamming horrifying shit on your vision like fat porn or something.

I'd maybe get one cyber eye, just so if something goes wrong I still have the reliable biological one left.
Best solution would be a biological eye enhanced with genetic manipulation and maybe some non electric tech like lenses inserted inside it.

>thinking you are actually controlling the car and not GridGuide

>Best solution would be a biological eye enhanced with genetic manipulation
this exists
>some non electric tech like lenses inserted inside it
this also exists

When you see the world through technology other people can manipulate, they can alter your perception of reality. I'd prefer that nobody be able to make things look different from how they are.

augment eye, specifically lens replacement, that way it is reversible if needed.

>addition of zoom
>I'd prefer that nobody be able to make things look different from how they are
?

lel

this, record images of girls you fuck, then watch later again...

or share on /b/ and claim your eyes were hacked..

tfw this is what technology turned out to be about

Obviously cyber-glasses, what kind of question is that? "Would you rather wear a glove or have your hand surgically removed and reattached with a rubber coating?"

Glasses of course, they make me look cute :3

Attached: 1479478219222.jpg (1280x720, 115K)

this is my feelings on it as well. post-human technology seems really cool, but you know it will be backdoored and there will be some level of dependence on the corp that made the technology.

How do I recharge my eyes, and how can I make my bionics 100% Free/Libre and Open Source software?

Glasses work better against the glow in the dark people.

My eyes are shit. I'd replace them if better cybernetic ones existed.

Keep biological eyes, but also install additional artificial eyes, some of which can remotely network. Develop new sense of total awareness vision.

I can't wear glasses, I'll go with eyes.

>What's wrong with our eyes?
a lot of wrong with mine.

damn thats a real fucko boingo

I have bad eyesight. I'd like new eyes.

You can achieve much of that with your own eyes already.

>xray vision
>fucking radiation how does it work

One cyber bullet in your dumb head, disgusting pedo scum.

Start using plus lenses for close work instead.

My eyes are out of wack already. One is + and other - in vision. Not enough to go for laser surgery yet but annoying enough to cause issues with staring at a TV or dual screens. Wouldnt mind one eye being replaced with FLIR heat signature and night vision settings. To have a zoom setting so I dont need another attachment on my rifles would be nice.

I'd replace my non-dominant eye

It used to be that laser surgery damaged your night vision. It was not exactly advertised but I don't see many details about this for modern methods either.

>replace your eyes
Just corneas.

True, before it was because they caused slices in your eyes, now I think it has been a bit more refined to not damage the eye in a similar method.

I can't even convince myself to get lasik or other surgery done to my eyes what makes you think I'll be ok with replacing them outright?

Glasses are more limited. But imagine if you got a botnet in your cyber eye. Basically some company can make you blind with a push of a button. Cybernetics without open hardware is basically suicide and voluntary slavery.

Our eyes only see like 5% of the light spectrum. Try to imagine a new color. Impossible, right? Well it's not anymore if you can see Infrared/ultraviolet.

I'd prefer blob free GNU/glasses.

Been keeping an eye on bionic lenses since they'll actually help us somewhere down the line, but the question is fucking when medium.com/@tinaphm7/superhuman-vision-bionic-lens-ad405fc42127

neither.

Alas, vision is but a vexation. Give me the freedom of the blind.

Why would you want that though

>-3/-4, migraines with aura and allergies out the ass
Yeah, hook me up with some new orbs please.

>be police man
>on the chase
>lose suspect
>switch frequencies and track suspect's radiant body heat trail
y would u want it

I imagine if you worked at a nuclear reactor you would find seeing all kinds of wave lengths pretty helpful.

>Well it's not anymore if you can see Infrared/ultraviolet.
Some of us can see near infrared already. The latter looks just like a deep, pure red colour.

I mean if you're working at a nuclear reactor and something glows bright blue you already know you're fucked, no need for advanced roboeyes

You'd need a new brain

>get highly invasive procedure
>can't sleep because intrusive and personalized thought ads keep giving you cravings

My uncorrected vision isn't quite shit enough to be willing to gouge them out and replace them with computers. I can imagine it being an option for someone who is helpless without correction (since losing your glasses is actually dangerous in that case).
Basically the same as my stance on laser eye surgery... risks aren't worth it for someone with mild refractive issues, might be worth it for more severe problems.

>My vision is augmented

The brain is remarkably reconfigurable inthis respect, check out the "tongue vision" in the /cyb/ FAQ.

Everybody can see near-infrared, it just has to be bright enough or your eyes have to be adjusted to the dark. Try pressing some buttons on a remote control and looking at the led after adjusting to the dark, you'll see a faint red light. [1] Also, I've found a paper saying that human eyes can see infrared light of wavelength up to 1150 nm due to some weird stuff happening inside the eye. [2]

Glasses because I don't want a knife in my face.

depends. can I install my own OS on them?

>Installing WinEye10
>Get constant Candy Crush ads in front of your vision
>Everything you see gets send to Microsoft
>Eyes need to restart when you need them the most
>At least it can play games, unlike those GNU/Eyes faggots

I don't even know who's side I'm on.

I have one eye that's shitty so I wouldnt mind replacing it

This is something I've always wondered but what would your "vision" look like if you had an additional set of eyes? Would you have two "viewports" that act independent of each other or would it be some weird mix of all the eyes combining their vision into one bigger viewport? Could you even focus on a single point with 4 eyes?

Can I fuck the eye socket while they recharge?

>close your eyes
>still cyberbullied
welp, time to check prices for that lasik.

Every time people bring up augmentation I worry.
It's like they don't realize we're in a software dystopia. Nothing fucking works. Reliability isn't even on the table.
How could you even begin to consider not having a contingency for your sight?

>Nothing fucking works.
if you are reading then then my message was successfully posted, and your pc is still being able to run

lack of 100% 'it just works' doesnt nothing works. cant make new shit if you are worried about 100% success rate, otherwise we would still be in caves. no, we would be fucking dead, why bother hunting if its not all hunts are a success? why bash 2 rock together if I need more than 1 hit to start a spark? why fuck your woman if not all ejaculations are a successful insemination?

do you want to know how I can tell you have done nothing in your life?

IOE....The internet of eyes.

Gunther Hermann pls go

I'd be more concerned about them having locked bootloaders and proprietary firmware "because civilians can't be trusted to have full access to their augments". Telemetry that can't be disabled and activates anytime you're near a cell tower also seems pretty worrisome.

Glasses for now. Don't want some glow in the darks fucking with my biological eyes, even if they're slowly getting fucked.

What is your current eye strength at specifically? I've got the same thing going on with one being a + and other a -, but both are only around 1. Kind of curious to hear as to how bad it can get.

either/or
so long as i retain a significant amount of control over the software

proof?

Currently -1.75 is my worst. Once it hits 2 or more I might go for "repair"

>Everybody can see near-infrared, it just has to be bright enough or your eyes have to be adjusted to the dark.
Sure. However I was thinking of the case where more normal power levels were involved.

As for the remote controls, do you see the difference between 850 nm and 910 nm?

>remotes
They're all red, but 850 are visible with dim lights on (but barely so), while 910 are almost invisible even in perfect dark

Haha get the fuck out retard

You're supposed to download the DLC. Eye manufacturers have to eat you know.

>Jow Forums would actually miss out on cyber augmentations
Jesus fuck guys, what happened to this board, everyone is just a fucking technology illiterate schizoposter now?
Just wait for the 100% open source firmwares and do a code review... It would be stupid to be one of the early adopters anyways.

cybernetics shouldnt need networks. Using cybernetics with networking is dumb because EVERY network is prone to being broken in.
Why the fuck would a cybernetic implant even need conection?

The better way to do this is to replace the eyepieces in some welding goggles with IR-pass filters. (there's an article about how you can make these pretty effectively with cheap colored-lighting plastic that theater folks and AV people use, google it) Then you walk around outside, where there's a huge billion-terawatt IR illuminator hanging in the sky on clear days.

The colors people usually pick pass everything from about 700nm on up, but you can change them out and get something that goes to 800-something nm. If your eyes are dark adapted you'll still get a (dim) view of the world in noonday sunshine at that wavelength.

If it has a hardware switch for any wirelesa cards

Glasses.

Retarded post.

Ultimately, if my PC doesn't work, it's not a literal part of me. If my cyber-glasses get stuck in an update loop, I can just take them off.
If my cyber-eyes don't work, I'm very literally blind now.

If you read that article carefully it notes the effect is that the eye opens up and you are in grave danger of losing your vision practically immediately if you were to look into the sun.
