You have to watch out, a lot of trolls like to spread bad info on these boards. There are quite a few helpful anons though. Look into Gentoo. It's an alternative operating system (OS, like Windows) that is a platform for advanced programming and hacking. To do anything real, this is a requirement. Things get easier from there. Install Gentoo then come back here.
that's vague as fuck. What type of hacking?
sorry lol idk anything bout hacking what types are there? i was told gentoo was good before but someone said it sucked
To be a real hacker you need to install a program called "Arch". It's very difficult (I use it, btw). Once you are in Arch you can download a program called "i3". With i3 you can be a real 1337 (That means elite, btw) hacker and post screenshots of your haxx0ring here.
are there videos to explain how to use these?
epic
oh ok thanks, epic
this thread is epic. all you guys are epic.
epicness is at max level
Here's the shortest, most layman-compatible definition I can give you of what a hacker is.
A hacker is a software (and sometimes hardware) expert. They are several steps above from 'developers' or 'programmers'.
All hackers* could get a $80k+ paying job by snapping their fingers. Therefore if you want to become a hacker, you need to become a high-tier software expert first. It's not a hobby, it's a career choice.
*(presuming they're not on the edge of the spectrum)
Hackers are painfuly autistic dude, wtf you mean just on the edge.
I can teach you
First step: install gentoo
There's this cool hacking app called Gentoo, just install it bro
>Hackers are painfuly autistic dude
You sound like a normie.
Most hackers I've met aren't socially crippled.
People don't go out there claiming to be hackers unless they're some brainless kiddos.
Pretty sure you're getting memed
No, a lot of the times I've seen their conference presentations and demos beforehand.
You can't really meme that shit.
This, but unironically
And you're right about people going out there and calling themselves hackers. That's not something you generally call yourself.
really depends what a "hacker" is though, doesn't it? i've been known to do some social engineering shit and have written dumb apps with backdoors (one was a data entry thing for a guy I hate on FB, so I made it with some logging shit) but does that make me a hacker? I would say no, but many would say yes.
You're straight up saying you're not a hacker. It's a fact then.
Who cares what the normies out there think about.
In real life hacking is generally something you do, not what you are, just like someone who can pick locks does not call themselves a lock picker.
will gentoo mess up my computer? mine kinda sucks
I know this is bait, but why don't you just start there
Cyber Security is not learned overnight. There's layers to it.
1) Learning C/C++ (Duh)
2) Learning Assembly
3) Learning Python
4) Learning about packets, sniffing packets, etc (Wireshark is pretty good for this imo)
5) Learning Encryption
Then, once you have a BASIC understanding of these concepts, you can divulge into more comprehensive items:
medium.com
Then you can explore into other forms of cyber security, like SQL injections, MitM attacks, XSS attacks.
Like what's your goal?
Most of it is dumb and super illegal.
Hacking is just a combination of computer science, social science and mostly plagiarism.
