TABS, then they should be four spaces in length

just stop bikeshedding and write some actual working code you mong

im just taking a break from work geez calm your tits fag

Tabs

they should be indistinguishable in a proper code editor

tabs

you mean eight

correct, but they should be two spaces.

the choice is very obvious: you use tabs, and a decent editor that handles it for you. the actual characters should be two spaces, but deleting one deletes the two, behaving as if it was a tab.

there is no other choice.

>:set expand(Your)tab
nothing personal kid

Femanon here. What's the difference? I always thought tabs is a shortcut for 4 spaces. uWu

using tabs is the pajeet way.
there is no reason why anyone would use tabs over spaces.

People who use spaces purely for indentation earn more on average, 2nd place is people mixing spaces and tabs, people using tabs only earn the least on average of the three groups.

tits or gtfo

tabs, tabstop = 8

Phd in math
Write code with tabs
Any job I want
$300k starting

I'm female too uwu

>Phd in math
>doesn't know what an average is
ok, dumb neet

fpbp

>Phd in some abstract intangible shit
>My skills are marketable, right Jow Forums? right?

Tabs, 16 spaces.
I code exclusively in assembler and I want 4 columns of 16 characters each:
labels, instruction, operands, comment.

Silly n00bs

Explain

spaces are kinda more universal
space is space on every platform
when i hit space four times i know it will be four spaces to whoever looks at the code

spaces are reddit tier

tabs for indentation, spaces for alignment, everything else is brainlet tier

Tbh that actually sounds comfy

>people care about tabs vs spaces rather than if the code meets the requirements of the task

>she literally hits space four times
the retards who made this show... normies should be killed

wtf?
You press your autocomplete button and it puts the spaces or tabs there, nobody presses space multiple times.

This. Tabs and spaces have different meanings, different semantics.

what the fuck is wrong with you

what do you expect from mactoddlers

4 spaces
But correct on other parts

2 spaces because style guide and to keep line length

Tabs for indentation.
Spaces for alignment.

Also is there any editor that supports nesting indents?
Eg. You have function that have lambda as one of it's arguments, so you indent your code with tabs, align arguments with spaces and then indent body of lambda using tabs again.

In ASCII tabs and space have different encryption.

sorry user you seem to have made a mistake. i clearly wrote that 2 spaces are the correct opinion.

Maybe she's using vi

well not sure about vi but if you are editing in VIM you are most likely using some autocomplete library.

There is no need in Vim, it handles indentation out of the box.

I do this in theory, but in practice, I very rarely space-align anything. Almost any situation where I might use space aligning, I usually prefer to not align at all.

The correct answer is whatever the standard is for the code base you're working on.

Where I work, one of the founders dictated at the company's inception that all python will use tab indication rather than space indentation.

>opinion
That's exactly what it is.
4 spaces is the defacto standard.
You can clearly see it's indented, unlike 2 spaces. And it will fit on mostly any screen, unlike 8 spaces

>71200282
Tabs:
+Everyone gets to choose preferred indent size
+Only one character per indent, so less disk space
+Compatible with dumb text editors

And don't give me the
>but code should look the same everywhere
I'f you're not forcing font and color scheme it will look different anyway.

tabs
1) exactly one byte
2) can be of any length you want it to be
3) defines one level of identation

if you use spaces for identation you're a pajeet python shitter or Goy pr*grammer

kill yourself

also this

Superior layout. Fuck space alignment.

Tabs for indentation, spaces for alignment.

>Female
How much was the op?

seething poojeet

if your indentation is not also your alignment, go away forever

what the hell? you realize it's going to look completely off if your tabstop is different?

No, it won't. That's sort of the point.

If unironic, pls kys. Your code deservedly remains unread by actual people

whatever happens when you hit tab on the keyboard because your IDE should abstract this detail away so you can focus on getting work done.

i mix them and tabs are 2,3,4,6,8 spaces in random files

If you don't use tabs youre wrong. Everyone can configure their editor to display tabs in whatever size they want

Is this true?

I think this might be correct

this goes here

Is that your email to your gay boyfriend? Indeed!

Tabs, 3 spaces in length. Fight me.
