i remember like 2016 or maybe 17 everyone was reporting that imessage would be going on android.
>F
iTunes is and has been shit for years and anyone who has ever used it welcomes this.
t. hardcore applefag
S
Why would that ever happen? Are you thinking of BBM?
iTunes was great during the 2004-2009 era but then it became shit as they made it more confusing and tried to recreate it to be "better"
Does this mean people are forced to use apple's icloud backup for backups? No more backing up on pc with itunes. Apple continues to milk and Google drools behind ready to deprecate ADB backup restore feature.
So itoddlers will never be able to put files on their iphones again?
no i'm just trying to illustrate how dumb rumors are.
the features will still be there, the change is mostly splitting it up into smaller, more specialised apps.
So it’s not actually going away according to the rumor. Just renamed and possibly extremely locked down by the sound of it. Stupid if true
I remember that as well, would h ave fixed a lot of issues of MMS & SMS still existing today.
see above
apple has several big softwares that are around, but that was old apple. They don't care to help others anymore.
I guarantee you whatever they replace it with will be even more shit
Every time some company retires there old early 2000s C++ deved apps it always gets replaced with shit that looks shiny to normalfags but only a 1/3 of the functionality
The replacement is much worse:
>pic related
It probably won't even be able to handle AppleScript anymore.
How do you sync your iToys without it? Is syncing still a thing?
Press S to spit on grave.
Apple should just open up for drag and drop file transfer to their iDevices, like every normal vendor does. For the sake of security and secret lolis, they can keep their encryption enabled. But i am tired of the bloat that iTunes always was.
That's also the reason i never used it. Neither as a media player on my mac, nor to transfer files or apps to my iDevices.
What i really miss is a Winamp style player that actually has a playlist that is detachable from the main player, just like Winamp does and can use skins.
I know, there is pine player and alike. But they can't detach the playlist, nor can these playlist windows be made wider but only longer.
Also no skinning available.
Full size windowed music players like iTunes are the worst waste of space.
It's not fucking 2010 anymore, Harold
I'm pretty sure all the AppleScript actions were confirmed to work by some leaker.
THIS!!!!!! FUCKING THIS!!!!!!!
Totally serious, the late nineties and early to mid 2000's were peak level software engineering.
Programs and operating systems weren't bloated, were nice to look at, were not eye straining, had a good and based GUI, had a ton of features but not in a worky or overloaded way, respoded quickly and got the damn job done they were made for.
I mean i still use Photoshop 7.1 for editing, ACDsee 3.1 for picture watching and sorting, good old Winamp to listen to music and an old version of VLC to watch my tv series and shit.
Old Skype were a tiny little window with a buddy list and not the bloated "3_mile_distance_between_every_user" bullshit like it is today.
The pixels have more than tenfolded on our screens and still skiype craves more and more space on the screen. Let alone the botnet bullshit since microsoft took over (after they destroyed their MSN Messenger). Fukkkkk this shit.
>Apple should just open up for drag and drop file transfer to their iDevices
They've had that since 2014
>but only a 1/3 of the functionality
That's the fucking point though, it was bloated with cruft left over since 2001, there's tons of shit that is either obsolete or no one uses
>responded quickly
>got the job done
>not botnet
are you sure about that?
>still/again no flac/ogg/opus/plugin support
maybe on a mac, but not on windows or loonix ,machines
The people working on Skype before Microsoft bought it weren't crooked fucks.
S
There were always shitty programs available. Botnet ones as well. But the majority of programs did just what they were purposed to do.
My old ACDSee 3.1, starts up in less than a second on my mechanical HDD computer.
A current Version of ACDSee is like 20 times the size and needs like 7 seconds to start. Bloats me with offerings about subscribtions and online services, cloud bullshit and some more. Just one example.
You can literally connect an iphone to a PC via usb and drag n drop to it. The driver just has to be the windows default or a generic MTP driver.
The struggle is doing it wirelessly or via bluetooth.
literally who cares?
Yeah I dunno what that guy's talking about, every experience I remember with Skype from the 00s was people disconnecting and reconnecting over and over again until people could see each other's usernames displaying as online, and a shitload of feedback noise once we started chatting.
If i could still use the old 3.8 client, i would. but it refuses to connect because microsoft has blocked older versions from accessing the network.
It never bugged for me.
Also try to compare your buddy list from a current version with that from the 3.8 version and then try to sort your buddies after online status. Pro tip, you fucking can't.
If you have you buddy list tab open, it shwos them in alphabetical order and not after online status. And there is a huge lot of space between every user and they put letters like "A", "B" and so on in beween. As if one single retarded fucker on this planet would need this shit bloated like this.
35 buddies in the list is enough to make you scroll for ages until you reached "Z", finally realizing that Zoe isn't online.
Fuck this shit.
i never faced such problems. Maybe it was just a shitty internet connection?
The death of media ownership is at hand. 2020 onward is streaming or bust
desu i didn't know this, because i got tired of the iTunes shackles back then and went for android ever since.
Fuck Itunes.
Where's Satania?
it got angeled out.
Perhaps, but literally no other chat client at the time (AIM, MSN, Yahoo I think) had the "cannot see if other user is online" issue.
It were a server issue and not a client issue.
I only had this not visible problem twice and that was when i got online via an unstable and slow DSL connection.
At home with fiber 10 megabits i could connect without any problems and were always visible when online.
but yes, it were an issue. but it was not the client itself, but a timeout issue of the servers being too intolerant against slower connections with higher pings.
Nice, this is my type of music player. I don't like bloat lol!
Just compare them side by side. Every single feature is still there. It's just a fresher look. If they keep the great tagging options there's nothing wrong with it. Why would you even need apple script?
Servers, clients, irrelevant. The software sucked before MS and sucks after MS.
not my experience.
>Why would you even need apple script?
How do you even use a Mac without AppleScript? No wonder the retards on this board think Macs are dumbed down
i just guess these people don't know what macOS is based on.
It's borderline impossible. The real reason why macOS is dead, is 10.14 and the retarded AppleScript blocking shit they introduced. Can't disable that shit and unless you restart the scripts they don't work, no matter if you put them in the whitelist.
Total trash updates the last 20+ months
But normies are distracted by Lady Gaga on stage in Apple Park and don't realize what's really happening under/in the hood. (And I wish I made that up.)
>The pixels have more than tenfolded on our screens and still skiype craves more and more space on the screen.
This is so fucking painfully true. Resolutions and display technologies improve, only for blank space and ads to be put in there.
hope they will make the new apps cross-platform
Can't even spell iTunes because I haven't used an Apple product since the iPod Nano was released, like all the other adults in the room.
>iTunes
Bloated. Just like Safari.
just imagine a 4K screen and win XP with old proggis, skype and stuff.
I guess 90% of the "second screen users" would jusr skip their secondary screen then.
definitely since rcs is NEVER coming at this point, carriers did what they do best and fucked it all up.
>Just like Safari.
Safari is one of the least bloated modern browsers. It's so lean, it doesn't even support extensions anymore.
Yeah but its never the useful shit that they leave in
>But normies are distracted by Lady Gaga on stage in Apple Park and don't realize what's really happening under/in the hood. (And I wish I made that up.)
lol, you're gonna have fun on Monday
You couldn't even wait to the announcement of the software that's launching in 3 months before claiming what features it does and doesn't have?
I share your worries, but what they're doing this year is unprecedented and iTunes is an 18 year old program that has been integral to a lot of shit. It's already confirmed that it's not a total rewrite and that the main change is breaking up the different media types and improving the UI, so there's a good chance that no music related features are missing.
Is there any way to convert my itunes songs into .mp3 or any other file type?
I bought a bunch back in the day and I want to have them preserved just in case I get a new phone.
baSed
looks like shit, fake
S
*legacy extensions
Welp kiss the functionality of all iPods goodbye so much for owning your hardware
Drink bleach and shoot yourself in the mouth, you fucking failed abortion.
Uhh what? How will you add songs to iPods or restore them without iTunes?
Which includes pretty much every extension because all new "extensions" are separate applications that can do very little to the browser.
Tuneskit or Noteburner if they're protected files, any converter if they're m4a (though those should play elsewhere)
who cares
How will itoddlers react? NPC face or will they praise it as anything else apple does?
They can do pretty much all extensiony things
So the mac will nave have a iOS Apple Music app port. Such innovation!
naturally *tips
Any JRiver Media Center chads lurking in this thread?
Hasn't iTunes gotten progressively worse over the years?
With every single update, this has been a long time coming.
Great, so am I going to be fucked for getting my podcasts?
Podcasts will likely be standalone on the Mac; I'm guessing Windows iTunes stays in its current nightmare form for awhile longer.
I can live with this then as long as they still work on the old version I use on Windows.
Podcasts are a big thing for Apple so I don't think that functionality is going anywhere on Windows, be it in iTunes or otherwise.
Lmao so now you need to use 3 apps to manage your shit instead of one. Thanks APPLE
I don't get it, what does actually change beyond name and logo for normal users?
>These new apps will mean iTunes will no longer be the go to place for accessing media on the Mac, and the iTunes app is expected to be retired, 18 years after it first launched. All device management is expected to be handled through the new Apple Music app that's coming.
>no more search bar
Wat.
>apps
>macOS
>apps
>on a desktop platform
kys itoddlers
Applications end in .app since 1999 with Apples operating systems. You're 20 years late and also wrong.
when was the last time android users managed shit from pc to phone? Without using a file explorer to drag-drop shit
its on the left, stupid
Goddamnit.
How I'm going to encode AAC to my car stereo?
>a fresher look
wow even more wasted space than before so fresh
iTunes literally Just Works finally. These new split-out apps will doubtless introduce tonnes of bugs :(
My initial thought was: Come on, nigga, this is just a music app; but then again we're talking about Apple, so yeah, a bit scared now.
F
>iTunes just werks
Maybe on Mac, on Windows iTunes is a steaming pile of dog shit.
>itunes bad
>apple music good
There's literally no difference. Both are shitty non-native web views, just like every other modern audio player.
good riddance, hopefully they introduce drag and drop transfers between devices
Now watch them forget to include metadata editing for Apple Music in the replacement.
You cant. Without ayytunes you can only copy photos off of a apple device.
You’ll have to sync for making backups. The other option is to pay for iCloud for storing your backups.
if by everyone you mean your middle school class and by reporting you mean hallway conversation
NeXTSTEP did it in 1989, the Mac's .app extension is a direct continuation of that.
iTunes has been dogshit on the Mac for well over a decade as well.
