Buy a netbook or Chromebook.

Also, anyone who thinks macbooks are better for actual usage than something like a Latitude, has never used a macbook.

I do not recommend macbook. For just programming/internet browsing you can get a used memepad for cheap. If you like the light grey aluminum a e s t h e t i c, you can also try looking for HP elitebooks, which are also quite good and durable from what I hear.

What makes it a better choice than a mac?
Would hackintoshing these be easy to use or would i be better off just using linux?
Also, how do the displays compare to a macbook?

Macs, especially recently, have been known to have frequent hardware failures as a result of shitty design. I'm sure you've seen the headlines about the keyboards failing, and there's plenty of other issues with them as well (overheating/thermal throttling, lack of ports, etc).
If you MUST buy applel laptops, get an older one. I recommend a 2012 15-inch MPBr. One of the original retina models, and quite a solid machine in general. Mine has only recently started to have the keyboard fail after getting several years out of it.
Ideally though, you'd be better off with what other anons have said. A business laptop from Lenovo/HP/Dell. Used if you want it dirt cheap. They may not be as pretty as macs, but they'll be much better and more compatible with GNU/Linux as well.

I'm an Applefag, but I'd recommend either waiting or getting something else. This is probably the worst time to buy a portable Mac, ever. The keyboards are fucked and they can't really do anything about it until the next chassis design which could be any time in the next year. The current design is also thermally constrained and the only relevant models are made extra expensive by the touch bar which is unanimously considered a gimmick. Even Apple itself seems to be dissatisfied with the current lineup.
On top of that, the combination of Intel's stagnation, Apple's own processors outperforming Intel chips and Apple's decision to make macOS and iOS closer (and requiring bitcode submissions in the App Store) means that it's basically confirmed that macOS is switching architectures and that future Macs will ship with ARM processors, so buying one now is basically buying outdated technology.

I'd personally recommend an iPad Pro, but you'd have to be sure that it fits your workflow. If an iPad fits you and interests you then I'd suggest paying attention to the WWDC keynote on Monday where Apple will show off a bunch of new pro iPad features coming in iOS 13.

A year ago, I'd be saying this too, but the last two hardware refreshes have made the difference in performance too great to ignore. If performance is important to you, it might be worth it to get a recent model and live with the tradeoffs.

It has plenty enough for most people.
In fact, that's actually the reason why I still keep one around. I'm normally a loonix user, but need some proprietary programs that aren't GNU/Linux native and I don't trust Wine to run them properly. Macs let me have these things, while still being a Unix system so I can still have my comfy terminal autism as usual.

Everyone hates the current MacBooks. People who think Apple users just blindly love everything they put out has never spoken to real users. It's heavily implied (although they obviously won't directly state it for many reasons) by both Apple spokespeople and employees that the newest MBP generation is considered a failure within the company. It was designed in a time period where the Mac was largely neglected internally in favour of the iPhone (and iPad) and iOS, but that recent restructuring has given the hardware teams a renewed focus on the Mac. This is probably connected to them changing their view of macOS from a legacy platform to something that can live alongside iOS and share code like we've been seeing with Marzipan.

It's a setting you fucking idiots. How many times will you niggers claim Mac users are retarded, yet somehow can't uncheck a single box in settings? Top tier security for the millions who will never boot anything other than macOS and a single setting to change if you want to boot something else, literally who does this harm?
