>windows 10 theme

>installs kdeconnect on my openbox setup
>1 trillion kde dependencies

Now do it again with a mainstream stock config

Knew I was gonna get heat for it. Just installed it after using Windows 10.
KDE can also do borderless

This one's going in my "self owned" compilation.
Beating GNOME isn't an achievement, they've tried their very best to make it as large as possible.
Try beating openbox, lxde, i3, or sway next.

I haven't done anything to it. Installed KDE Manjaro and it's always been like this. It was the same under PCLinuxOS.

I could post a picture of dolphin with thumbnails.

its not 2000 or 2010 anymore, it's not a big deal to use ram. at this point the focus should be on features and overall quality. in that respect kde is much better than gnome. gnome has actually regressed in terms of both quality and features.

I agree. Also GNOME has those ugly huge titlebars. Supposedly they were enlarged in order to be eaier to use on tablets. So, where is the gnome tablet? GNOME is fail.

user, that screenshot doesn't end any "myth", by the contrary, only forwarder proves it.

Anons on here keep calling KDE a resource hog when it's not the case.

Kde can use openbox, they're not exclusive retard

>Comparing Plasma 5 to lighter less feature rich and power under the hood DE's or WM's

kde is fine, it's less than 1 browser tab

I was amazed when trying gnome again recently how little you could actually customize, while at the same time KDE provides the ability to customize almost everything

Noooooooo
Prove it
>Feature rich
This just means bloat

Like this?

But your screenshot proves KDE is a resource hog...

>sudo apt install openbox openbox-kde-session
>sudo dnf install openbox-kde
Hmmmm it's only on every help site for speeding up KDE on old systems and supported in every distro repository.

>posts a picture of a pig
>it's not a mammal!

I'm a debian user so I know kde is behind(using buster atm) but how good/decent is its version(5.14)?

it's a fucking sad sorry time we live in where using more than 500MB memory just sitting at the fucking desktop doing absolutely fucking nothing is considered 'not bloated'

Check Xfce

The only bad thing about KDE is Discover. That shit never works here.

>just sitting at the fucking desktop doing absolutely fucking nothing
this is not correct though, for instance it's running a compositor with OpenGL as rendering backend, so you have shadows, and can have effects likt transparancy and blur on your windows.

actually windows looks like KDE now with 1903 update

How do you do borderless on KDE? Also is there any fucking way to remove the huge top bar/border on browsers?

There are people who probably know better than me, but i do:
alt+f3
>special applications settings
>Appearance & Fixes
>No titlebar and fram >Force >Yes
You then move windows arround using alt+left click and resize using alt+right click. You can also enable tiling so kwin becomes a tiling WM.

I really dislike that huge bar on browsers, it should be like on mac and windows where it's a part of the tabbar. Annoying. i don't know how t remove it other than make browser borderless, but then you don't have the minimize maximize buttons.

Firefox has supported csd tabs for a while now.

How do I enable it? I shall search

lol didn't know
thanks!
main menu
customize
check off "title bar" on the lower left

>customize
>click the "titlebar" button on bottom left

Good. I just toyed around with it the other day, on buster

Better?

Is kwin the only window manager that can do rounded, anti-aliased corners?

>5 centimeters per seconds
The feels are coming

this

I don't give a shit about initial ram usage as long as it's not increasing over time.
The problem with kde is it has a trillion of dependencies, libraries and widgets, when all I want is a desktop, config daemon and window manager.
if you want that ok, but it seriously looks like windows garbage and is full of bugs.
and wayland is a joke on kde

>kde4
>photoshop
>2gb of ram

It's KDE 5.
Why would this site make up the stats?

Even lower on Gentoo

Sorry, looks like kde4

retard

Unironically install Gentoo

The truth has been spoken. /thread

I'm on 490 megabytes with configs that are close to the stock. 1 more panel and a few more widgets. Using Manjaro.

Mutter can as well, but then you have to use GNOME.

>crying about a whole DE using 500 mb of ram
>meanwhile a single chrome tab easily takes as much
I'll never understand

Firefox has a fixed pool of render processes.

Last time I checked that only worked with GTK applications using CSD.
