Weird thing. I'm on the east coast and Discord, youtube and a few other google services are down, but I turned my VPN on to connect to the west coast and everything works.

The idea is that you should be allowed an (easy) alternative if you wish.

without an account they go as far as the cookies reach.
with an account you send them data for everything you click.
also, if you watch your videos on external player, the video doesn't even get views from you.

Pffffft I had Manjaro crash around 7 times when I was trying to install it. Sometimes it didn't even make it to the live environment. 8th try was the charm I guess. Hell one time it crashed just because I tried to adjust my dual screen setup.
Best part? So far Manjaro has been the most plug and play distro I've tried. Actually recognized and installed drivers for my wifi card off the bat. Even in the live environment.
