It's been a champ for over 10 years now.

I use a table, 160x80cm. Im considering making a desk though

Custom built standing desk.

Attached: DSC_0020 (1).jpg (3840x2160, 2.5M)

For the record, obviously the left hand compartment was meant for my desktop. After some time, though, I felt it was making things too hot and that seemed to be confirmed by extremely poor overclocking, so I now have a stand, just adjacent, giving it more room to breath and more distance from the wall. It helped a TON with temps.

I'm currently using a $20 ikea linnmon desk. It's been great, and it's my first desk ever! The packaging it comes in is non existant, but other than that it looks clean and works for the price.

It's a great computer desk. It is not a great desk for building stuff on, since it's prone to punctures. I like it, and it's only $20, so what do you have to lose?

>haha i'm gonna put my computer in a small confined wooden box
what were you thinking originally

Literally what you put in the OP, just 2 sets of ALEX drawers.

Got this a few months ago

Attached: file.png (1500x783, 303K)

This was about 6 years ago, before I knew any better, having only just built my first PC and never having put thought into cooling since I hadn't really ever used powerful computers or done any overclocking before.

Something cheap, it going to get cover in semen anyways

Nevertheless this desk was EXCELLENT despite that minor hiccup (the compartment is now used for storage anyway). I'm using it right now and its lasted for 6+ years with $140 worth of material and an afternoon of woodworking.

Sturdy as fuck

Attached: desk32[1].jpg (800x600, 42K)

I have the same Ikea table top as in your pic (the largest size).

And I have dual motor standing legs from Amazon ($250)

This is the desk I had in college. 10/10

Got it a few years ago, liked the idea of having a corner desk. Hate it now though, way too big for my needs and I can't put it where I want because of the corner.

Using one too. The particle board mildly bulged on one end 2 months after setting up

>desk
Pleb's choice. Floor Chad master race

L shaped desks are the best. Was considering a U desk but that started to seem indulgent.

I use a desk similar to the one in the pic, got it for forty bucks from some estate sale five years ago.
On the one hand it's awesome since I can fit three monitors, one of those giant mousepads, and still fit a computer and some hobby stuff on it, but on the other hand it's fucking massive and weighs more than I do.

Attached: Big_Ass_Desk.jpg (2133x900, 269K)

>ikea steel legs (good), ikea "wood" tabletop (shit)
it just works

MultiTable ModTable (Hand Crank) + Ikea Enbacken

where do i get one

why? seems like wasted space, i mean if the L is retractable its kinda cool?

>ikea "wood" tabletop (shit)
theyre "ok" hardly shit, especially for the price. The basic desks and i think all desks actually are particle board garbage, not even mdf.

Any school once they close for summer.

Post plan?

they looks like a uk thing

i made my own desk with a 4 foot wide piece of kitchen countertop i bought at homedepot on clearance, and 2x4s

Unbranded adjustable desk. Hydraulic, not electric, so I actually have to put some effort in when I raise it. Best fucking desk I've ever used, stable all the way up.

Pic is from december when i assembled it, it's messier now.

Built the same desk as this video

I currently have a LINNMON board, but I don't want a literally paper board, I want a real wood one. I will probably get the ÖVRARYD for 85€. It's made of bambo, but it also says it made of particules of whatever. How much should a regular wood table be? a 150x75cm one.

This actually looks pretty comfy desu

Ikea Torsby. Four metal legs on a frame and a flat desk surface.

Attached: ikea_torsby.jpg (500x500, 16K)

two of these in an L formation

it just works

Attached: ikea hilver.jpg (640x640, 15K)

>glass
idk man

Based and L-pilled. Corner desks are truly kino.

>glance
dropped

dont do it user, glass is shit. any wood is easier to clean and glass is fucking loud and fucking cold. Literally no benefit whatever.

kino soi desu. its like saying you need to sit in a cLIck corner or something

Imagine using anything but a manly, comfy corner desk.

Attached: 20190603_074409.jpg (3264x2448, 2.99M)

I know, i hate glass because it also scratches easy and when there's sand on it, it becomes unfun to use. Im actually thinking the next desk I build is going to aluminum topped.

As someone who recently switched from glass to wood, glass had several advantages
>don't have to worry about grease from food, spills, etc.
>didn't need a table pad for hot meals
>space heater underneath kept the whole desk nice and toasty
>didn't need a mirror for certain illicit substances

>drugs
>messy
>shit monitor
>keyboard tray
>history books
>2003 core speakers

>don't have to worry about grease from food, spills, etc.
If your wood is treated properly this is not an issue
>didn't need a table pad for hot meals
same as above, unless its a casserole dish or something

also in addition to these two points eating at your desk / workspace is gross and a sign of laziness / too much work
>space heater underneath kept the whole desk nice and toasty
I mean wood gets hot and holds heat for a lot longer, this seems more like an issue in european/ african countries or places without proper heating
>didn't need a mirror for certain illicit substances
meme

This but unironically.
Also hello aussie.

>If your wood is treated properly this is not an issue
It's veneered particle board
>eating at your desk / workspace is gross
I never understood this
>I mean wood gets hot and holds heat for a lot longer
Wood's much more of an insulator than glass. Having the space heater running for 8 hours under my 1" thick wood desk doesn't even come remotely close to having it running under my .5" thick glass desk for a half hour.
>this seems more like an issue in european/ african countries or places without proper heating
no
>meme
no

>It's veneered particle board
so garbage
>I never understood this
its dependent on class perhaps
>Wood's much more of an insulator than glass. Having the space heater running for 8 hours under my 1" thick wood desk doesn't even come remotely close to having it running under my .5" thick glass desk for a half hour.
which explains why its a better choice for heating your lower body
>no
not an answer
>no
yes because EVERYONE is doing illegal drugs

Standing desks only make sense if it's for VR or some type of work that involves moving away from the desk often.

so garbage
It looks nice and works as a desk, that's all I really expected out of it.
>its dependent on class perhaps
No, it's dependent on being a prissy bitch. What's the difference between eating at my desk that functions as a table and eating at a table?
>which explains why its a better choice for heating your lower body
What?
>not an answer
Yes it is.
>yes because EVERYONE is doing illegal drugs
Regardless of how many people do, it is still a pro of glass over wood. I never said it applied to EVERYONE.

>It looks nice and works as a desk, that's all I really expected out of it.
and will not look nice in one year when its worn out
>No, it's dependent on being a prissy bitch. What's the difference between eating at my desk that functions as a table and eating at a table?
sorry i didnt mean to trigger you. A dining table is generally considered cleaner as it keeps pests and mold outside of the work / sleep area.
>What?
as its an insulator the area under the table is kept warmer, this of course depends on a few other factors as well, but essentially in your case would have been a better choice. if your arms were cold then maybe a hot pack or running the heater in such a way that the airflow is split would be a better option.
>Yes it is.
again, no. If you have central heating its not an issue
>Regardless of how many people do, it is still a pro of glass over wood. I never said it applied to EVERYONE.
sure, its a pro that you can do illegal drugs easier. i guess that plays off of point 2 a bit.

>and will not look nice in one year when its worn out
We'll see.
>sorry i didnt mean to trigger you. A dining table is generally considered cleaner as it keeps pests and mold outside of the work / sleep area.
Sounds like a non-issue as long as I'm not dumping shit all over the desk.
>as its an insulator the area under the table is kept warmer
Which is irrelevant since that's where the space heater is
>if your arms were cold then maybe a hot pack or running the heater in such a way that the airflow is split would be a better option
IR heaters don't really work on airflow. Having a heated desk >>>>>>> whatever the fuck you're suggesting.
>again, no. If you have central heating its not an issue
I do not. My house is heated with hot water

>We'll see.
it is a known thing, it will happen regardless
>Sounds like a non-issue as long as I'm not dumping shit all over the desk.
crumbs also happen regardless, and like you said you put plates and other substances on your desk so its something you do
>Which is irrelevant since that's where the space heater is
if the space heater is under your desk that makes it better for heating under the desk if its wood
>IR heaters don't really work on airflow. Having a heated desk >>>>>>> whatever the fuck you're suggesting.
please try and understand
>I do not. My house is heated with hot water

>it is a known thing, it will happen regardless
We'll see.
>crumbs also happen regardless
Crumbs either wind up on the desk, in which case they're swept into the trash, or on the floor, in which case they're vacuumed.
>if the space heater is under your desk that makes it better for heating under the desk if its wood
But I don't need any help heating under the desk, it's above the desk that needs it.
>please try and understand
I did, and concluded that a space heater under a glass desk is better than any of your suggestions.

you spent 2 grand on a desk?

it looks used and your qck looks cummed on

pretty jealous of that Maria figurine

I bought a standing desk past month, it's pretty gud.

Looks comfy except

what is this autism?

Attached: desk0.png (1375x749, 1.35M)

I spent $100 and it came with abstract art inked on the urethane palmrest.
I-I-It's just dead skin I swear!

buy one, theyre only $60 or so

It is black wood in my case. IDK if they removed that option.

I often get family sleeping at my place during the summer. I'd get teased a lot for that.

really? seems a bit sad. My cousins loved my mlp figures, my second cousins thought my anime figures were cool (my younger cousin asked why i had a figure of a girl in a bathing suit in front of my uncle which was funny) and my mother thinks theyre ok. you could just put them away

it's not too bad, will probably have to get something better in a few years tho

Attached: desk.jpg (228x228, 9K)

the stuff on the left seems kinda shit imo

>Custom cut Tasmanian oak
>$5 IKEA legs

Attached: LRM_EXPORT_18597973429581_20190603_232621361.jpg (2048x1150, 903K)

they're actually pretty decent shelves.

I don't want to take any measures just because they're there either, that'd be just as sad. But thanks for the advice.

Nah that's garbage. I wouldn't even let my mom use something like that.

oh no i mean in terms of aesthetics its not really my thing, same with keyboard trays

your call, you gotta do what makes you happy in life

>Tasmanian Oak
Nice, user.

two drawers for her pleasure

Attached: arkelstorp ikea.jpg (2000x2000, 771K)

Yeah they feel super solid, I've only had shitty chipboard in my past.
My roommate sourced it for real cheap ($90ea I think)

tasmania oak is nice, but even in australia its too expensive. why 3 setups though?

OP's pic is the desk i have but i have 4 gray metal legs

damned if it isn't true

I live with two other comp sci graduates and we wanted a space to play vidja and shitpost.
Also our rooms are too small for battlestations

Do you watch porn and jerk off together too?

>not being able to use computer to fap so chain fapping rolling your office chairs into a circle to literally circlejerk each other like good uni students
top kek

>playing games with my friends

>we both laugh and I unzip his pants
>move his chair back while fondling his balls
>friends are laughing because they know it's just a joke
>almost choke on his dick because I'm laughing so hard
>friend is also laughing his ass off
>other friend starts making train noises while yelling "BROJOB BROJOB! CHOO CHOO"
>he cums and I swallow it all like some stupid faggot
>kiss my friends and call them faggots while laughing

Gotta love playing pranks on my friends

lmao

82nd post best post

Ikea Fredde. 9/10, more space for the kb/mouse would be perfect IMO

Basically just copied this verbatim:

tacky. gross. tasteless.
right in line with something you'd see on Jow Forums.

Attached: IMG_20171106_014027-1.jpg (2560x1019, 1.47M)

I use this, got it from Ikea. the cable hide in the back is fucking great and its deep enough that sitting belly up to it isn't too close for a 30" display.

fucking great spin on a classic

It's great. Not too expensive either, paid 180 euro for it.
