Say you don't have a workstation gpu: you call up the support line for your CAD program because it crashes every time you try to start the CFD module to simulate turbulence on your multi-million dollar part, and they hang up on you because using a consumer-grade gpu violates your support contract. oops!
Wokstation GPUs are mostly a grift, but they're still necessary to get shit done.
