$1000

the company I work for spent 2x's that for my chair. lol

how fat are you

Arch linux user with a riced anime desktop kind of weight, my man.

stand 999$
monitor 1$
??????????

Considering it is Apple a monitor for 1k doesn sound that bad

only stand is 1k

the monitor is 5k, the stand is 1k

the monitor is 5 or 6K, depending on if you get the anti-glare screen. The STAND alone is 1K add-on, or a VESA mount for $200

oh my fuck

Vesa ADAPTER is also $200

>>$1000
what's wrong with this?
that's a pretty good price for a monitor

>monitor
oh user...

>the stand costs more than my 3 monitor setup
suddenly i don't mind being a poor fag

>$4999
>included in the box
>Pro Display XDR
>Power cord (2 m)
>Apple Thunderbolt 3 Pro Cable (2 m)
>Polishing cloth

so no VESA mounting holes OR a basic stand.

So you HAVE to buy the $199 VESA mount kit, OR the $999 Pro Stand.

They're essentially selling a product that MUST be paired with another product for at least $199, just to use the original product, which as a reminder, costs $4999. Or $5999 if you want a matte finish on the panel.

There must be an explanation. I simply can't understand how can a piece of aluminum with absolutely not tech involved can cost $999. It's simply absurd.

that's apple, baby

>with absolutely not tech involved
Hey, it's got magnets man

They added a computer controller latching mechanism, monitors without a matching NFC chip are unable to mount with the stand

damn, how do they work tho

>So you HAVE to buy the $199 VESA mount kit, OR the $999 Pro Stand.
...or just buy the alternatives that will come out for people who are only 80% instead of 100% retarded with their money

Thats advanced technology man

But user, it's special Apple aluminum! It's worth its weight in silver!

To be fair, the panel itself is actually really fucking good for the price.

If you're just buying the panel, I honestly can't fault you.
There is simply no other competitor to it's price, specs, size, etc.

It's one of a kind, and the specs put it up against $10k+ reference displays.

>the alternatives
are you so poor you can't afford official apple products?

the monitor is 5000$ user.

It's a production reference monitor with specs that compete with $30k displays.
>1000 nits continuous, 1600 burst
If Apple isn't lying, that's astounding.

Not professionally producing footage meant for OLED tvs? Good news, you don't have a reason to buy it.

To be fair, it's kinda Apples fault for widening the PRO label to basically anything, so now when they have an actual pro product that is by far cheaper than the competition, even if you buy ten stands with it; idiots get confused.

They'd still get confused. These threads are full of retards comparing a workstation to prosumer gaming shit because they don't actually understand computing beyond optimally playing Fortnite and watching porn.

I see very few idiots getting confused. People are getting paid to do this.
Since mac pro is so niche, it's has to be a competitor in another area. Who's the biggest threat to the iPhone right now?

>underestimating the pure autism of /v/ spergs over Applel
If even 10% of the dumb posters here were shills, it'd be one of the top industries.

>Who's the biggest threat to the iPhone right now?
Probably Apple and their obsession with camera bumps.

>muh screen
No one is saying the screen is bad you mongs, but why the fuck does a professional screen have a stand that costs $1000 besides fucking the consumer?

Apple has money, so they got first dibs on new miniLED, same as how they got first dibs on 7nm. Wait a year for the early adoption tax to vanish and everyone else will have the same display for 1/3 of the price.

Well, if you get this guy into office you can buy 12 of those things a year :)

How many actual consumers will even care about it? It's a screen that's going to be bought by specified companies, 1k stand wouldn't even be a rounding error for them and most won't need it anyway.

Besides there is still the big picture, even if you buy one monitor and 10 stands, you're still getting a bargain.

It'll probably take a long longer than a few years. Look how long it took for OLED.

correct me if wrong but is apple impliyng that their flagship, their perfomance beast, is only worth x6 times an aluminium rod? and same for the display

>a pivot Dell stand goes for $30
>an entry level Dell monitor goes for $180
I guess.

out probably end of year, $3K.

Apple does like their weird meme resolutions (5K for monitors last time) but it's only a matter of time before other OEMs get it.

Fair 1st point user

>far inferior display that might come out in September and cost 3k
Even if there is a massive jump in technology making production much more affordable, getting anywhere near 1/3 of Apple price for a similar quality isn't looking likely in the next two years, if we're being overly optimistic.

Ya all niggas underestimate just how crazy 1k nits for long term usage is.

Can you show me a better one for cheaper? :^)

DOA chink shit

Completely pointless to have a monitor that big.
