Linux mint and manjaro still on linux 4.9 or something
I just installed linux 5.1.6 on my arch
Why the fuck are the mainstream distros lagging behind with kernel updates?

Well, Mint is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian, which is the Amish distro - really comfy, if you don't need anything particularly modern.

You appear to be doing something incorrectly there. Here, let me post a screenshot of Manjaro's kernel selection and installation utility. You can install whichever one is listed there from the official repositories:

literally who cares about kernels

Just update the kernel manually

fedora uses kernel 5.09

My fc30 system runs on 5.1.5, Rawhide has 5.2rc2

because theyre lagging behind with every package

19.04 is already on 5.0

because new kernels may break your system.. and manjaro and mint are meant for normies. normies cant fix their systems
