Not anymore.
Zombo.com
Nasa website to look at space pictures. I couldn't think of anything else to search in 1996
Can't remember at all anymore, but if I'd have to make a semi-educated guess, probably one of the search engines that were big back in the day, like Altavista.
wonka.com
First one I remember willingly choosing to visit was South Park official website, then downloading Macromedia Flash to use some function it had to create avatars of yourself as a South Park character.
First times I saw the internet at friends' homes was mIRC and one time I was waiting like an hour or so for the guy to load a higher resolution picture of a soccer player kicking a ball.
Pauses in between all of those to play Heretic, Doom, Carmaggedon and a game I can't remember the name and never found again in which you drove a war tank in first person the middle of a desert with some bases that attacked you.
big girl boobies
hot girls
How do I make a weird website like this that people will talk about for years to come?
poop.com
It was a porn site. I got in trouble.
The tv instructed me to, and thus I did - painstaking toddling back and fourth from the packard bell to the tv to transcribe a few letters at the time - cbeebies.co.uk.
caramail.com (was an email provider with chatrooms and stuff like that)
df5.com (used to be a porn website)
Sabrina online
msn.com
Yahoo.com
whitehouse.com
hollywoodchat
or something like that
it was the chat system my sister used
similar system to Jow Forums without an updater, where you needed to refresh frequently to see what other people were saying
simpler times
>caramail.com

My local ISP bundled netscape and trumpet winsock on floppies and that was set to the homepage.

What does Jow Forums think of Hypnospace Outlaw?
Honestly how do you guys remember such things? I barely remember what happened last year because most of it is irrelevant.
askjeeves or altavista
mostly to look up Playstation cheat codes
cheatcc or cheatplanet, probably.
Getting on the internet was exciting for people at some point. I was like 10 when I first got onto Cartoon Network's site and discovered Youtube and titties a little while later.
Well I guess that's my problem. I don't get excited for anything.
just find something that makes you happy.
Nude Raider. Still got those nude patches some dude made for the pc games.
Spooky, I bet that's NSA
>Pokemon internet browser
I remember this, it was literally just IE5, not even IE6, with a skin on it.
don't remember exactly what was the first but I do remember back in 96 going to the Westwood Studios website to see what they were doing.
Pic related is a capture of the '97 website on the wayback machine.
Either the website for General Mills or Nickelodeon’s. There was a game for the movie Snow Day that I was obsessed with playing and the General Mills site had a bunch of snack themed games
gotta be glowniggers
Mosaic
I'm reasonably sure it was either AskJeeves, Lycos, or the home page of my school district.
actually it used whatever IE backend there was.
It worked up to IE 7 IIRC
Pretty sure it was foxkids.com New years eve 1998.
Tried to play the digimon video game that they had.
Too bad your mother didn't know so she could abort you.
This. They had some fun online games.

What an introduction!
yep probably this one
reddit.com
inbox.com
crawler.com
These give me a nostalgia boner, I used to fuck up my dad's windows computer with just screensavers and games (that mostly had viruses) from those websites, especially Crawler. I love those websites, they have a special place in my heart for them.
>Junkbot
>Bionicle point-and-click adventure
Toggo.de
flash games were the shit.
Hamster dance. Com
dk.com
It is a publisher. I guess around 2001-2002 ish. It looked pretty different back then haha
I think it was MIT back in 1996. Got my first net connection then and as part of the package from the ISP i got a book called "Navigating the World Wide Web with Netscape Navigator". The first website the book mentioned and depicted with a pic was MIT.
Was fascinating watching the webpage itself slowly load, tick, tick, ticking down the screen
startlap.hu
It was a site aggregator and it had everything 11-12 yo me ever could've wished for: games, pictures of guns and pictures of boobies
It still exists, but it looks like it mostly has news now
>first site
do dialup bbs count? btx sites? if not then most likely some university site. there wasn't much on the internet in the early days.
