However configuring the kernel is time consuming for the first time and compiling takes additional time.

I want to set up some IP cameras on my property.
My requirements for the nvr are
>video streams can be accessed through a web browser and through an android app, on the local network by default but can be hosted on the internet
>runs foss software that doesnt phone home or upload recordings to their servers
>can ssh into it
>cameras it comes with power over ethernet and are at least 1080p and are for outdoor use

Recently got a new job that requires me to travel around alot which means I will rarely be home with my desktop. I need some recommendations on laptops which can play games efficiently. Would be nice if it could last because it'll take at least 3 years before I can reach a position where I don't have to travel as much. I wouldn't mind it being expensive if it means it'll last at least 3 years.

I'm trying to rip DRMed manga. The images show up in Chromium's devtools but not in firefox's devtools. The images and decoded with client-side javascript.
Unfortunately right clicking and saving doesn't work, so the only option is to copy and paste a super long base64 encoded URL like data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/(omitted), then I can save the image.
Is there an easy way to download all resources like this? I tried an extension called "Save All Resources," but it didn't download the decoded images.

Just got a blue screen. Bad memory header or something i think it said. then when i tried to restart the PC the monitors got no signal. so i tried booting it from the motherboard video output and i got a signal again. so i shut the pc down and switch to my GPU again and now its working.

I followed the gentoo wiki line by line for WPA_supplicant, but it still reads "Could not get status from WPA_supplicant" when I run WPA_GUI even in root. Yes, if you have a beeper on your mobo or one connected to the dedicated pins it should give specific signals for various failures including no memory installed or memory fault.

you reset bios/uefi using a pin on your motherboard. Well, usually there are 3 pins. There is a jumper on 1-2, move it to 2-3, wait a few seconds and put it back on 1-2. Your bios settings should be reset.
Read your mobos manual how to do this exactly on your mobo.

but for some reason just looping the gif, the longer it looks, the higher the file size? Why would this be the case when it's the exact same pixels being reused. Am I just extra-retarded? Is there really no way for an image file to loop an animation without treating redundant data as new data?

That is absolutely normal. Video coding formats usually use previous frames as reference, but not in the way and the extent you described.

that's normal, video is not designed with this use-case in mind, it has a very short "memory" in the sense that it can only reference old picture information for a very short period before it's forced to store a new copy, even if it didn't change

In certain editing software the videos aren't capable of being trimmed etc.
I remember adding ffmpeg to combine audio & video at some point.

It's saving 4k 60fps video as webm which is fine usually for my preferred editing software but it crashes when I open up the trim/snip functionality.

the issue for him is that his codec doesn't reference frames from earlier loops, that is, the video isn't being 'deduplicated'
a video which allows for indefinite references would;
- encoder slower and slower as the video gets longer, as there is more to reference every frame
- create unseekable video, if the last frame can reference the first, then every frame must be decoded to decode the last frame
there's very little use-case for such a video, it's a lot more efficient to simply store a video of one loop, and play that in a loop

Why? It's not like the GIF size goes 1:1 into the output file size (you're encoding lossy after all). People are constantly looping GIFs to >1-2 minute long tracks for ygyl threads.
And if you want to go for even longer audio tracks, you can use a still image and set the frame rate to 1fps. That'll reduce the video size to a minimum.

I just got a Dell R720 and threw FreeNAS on it, I am trying to throw a script I found for controlling the fans to be a bit quieter as I would like them around 2200 RPM normally. I took the code, put it in a .sh file, loaded it onto freenas, and started a post init task to run that script but nothing seems to have changed. Does anyone know how how in FreeNAS to set a script like this up?

It seems retarded to do this manually, or even to do 8 at a time data-entry style. I want to use an array, a for loop, and a createJCheckBox(...) method to automate much of it.
