So is a RTX 2060 a shit investment or not?

It's not an investment, it's a product you will consume as you gayme gayme. The only scenario where it would qualify as an investment is if you used it to professionally render shit and make money from it, but I doubt you'd be asking here for advice if that were the case.

idk I finish paying mine off in a few months,. I'll let you know then

Are you gonna use to do machine learning and develop a product that'll make you rich? So yes.

you dont need a rtx 2060 to do ml, the performance boost is pretty small and most models are running for hours anyways.

besides, if you're doing something really serious you aren't running it locally no matter what.

it's a shit investment if you want it for the raytracing
it's not that bad of an investment if you need the best GPUs for vidya and can't find a 1080ti

Do you want to play Minecraft with raytracing in VR? Then yes.

It's a decent value. Right around the 580 in perf/money, making it king of its price bracket and about even to a 1080 in 1080p

>investment or not
buy high, sell low.

Good card, however the heavier price tag over the 1660Ti isn't worth it. The 2060 is only around 7% faster than the 1660Ti in raw power, but around $80 more expensive. The only thing you gain by getting the 2060 is Ray tracing which the 2060 isn't nearly powerful enough to properly push.

Not needed. Minecraft uses software raytracing, not RTX cores. Any Nvidia GPU works (I use 1660ti).

>and about even to a 1080 in 1080p
lol

Based on how cards tend to drop in fps performance per year as requirements increase, it is one of the better cards for 1080p gaming in terms of how many years you'll get out of it before your 1% lows drop below 60. However, that doesn't take into account whether the 6gb vram limit will matter or not.

> buying luxury items you can't afford

kek

the thread should have ended after this post

No. For ML and GPU rendering it’s more cost effective to buy several 1080ti.

2080ti is the only one worth buying
Just save up and shove flexpay type crap?

What even is the RTX2060's performance in terms of int8 and int16 tops?

This is not your personal tech support site
It is not your private consultancy interview either
Please fuck off to reddit or google, whichever you are dumb enough to understand the best

You do realize GPUs are used for more than gayming, right? Dumb animeposter

If you're using it professionally you'd get the more expensive cards and write it off as a business expense.

Not if you build a cryptocurrency that is most efficiently mined with rt cores.
