iMac Pro:

If you have to ask, you're just too poor to afford or even appreciate the art that Apple releases. I already pre-ordered a completely clapped out Mac pro for $50, and 3x 6k monitors (all with the Pro monitor stand of course).

A person with that amount of money wouldn’t waste their time here

the new mac workstation is a completely different product with professional level support
the monitor is much better, and it's modular
it's also a completely different processor

the new one is marked up a lot more, but it's targeted at actual professionals while the imac is for consumers

I have that kind of money and I'm wasting my time here because I'm an autist with nothing else going on in my life except work and fucking around on the internet in the evenings. I'm not the guy you replied to though. if I was going to drop 50k on a new workstation I'd get a real one, supermicro.

You'd be surprised. But real talk, even with that kind of money, I wouldn't buy that Apple. The only people who throw this kindn of money away are companies who can drop a million on outfitting their department without even blinking, or retarded millionaires who don't know technology and see higher price tag = better.

I see you've taken the Apple koolaid.
>iMac has 32GB of EDC and a fucking Xeon processor
>For consumers
Talk about delusional. Not only that, but even in this new Mac Pro, everything is soldered AND proprietary.

>the lowest model of the higher end system is worse than the highest model of the lower end system
So fucking what? Even if it costs more, the Mac Pro is far more upgradeable.

>So what if I buy the bargain bin version of a top tier model for the same price I can get a car superior PC? I can always pay MORE money in the future to upgrade it
You're retarded

iMac is for consumers
iMac Pro is for consumers who want to pretend they're professionals
Mac Pro is for real professionals who want a system that actually performs, does not throttle, and can be upgraded without throwing it out and buying a new one

Except that ECC ram isn't for consumers at all. And the Mac pro isn't as modular as everyone thinks.
>Without throttling
Lol. This is Apple we're talking about. I'd bet money it will throttle when you start trying to do any sort of meaningful work.

> professional level support that the iMac does not offer
[citation required]
> the monitor is much better, and it's modular
you can connect that monitor on the iMac Pro as well
> it's also a completely difference processor
and yet the iMac pro's 10-core massively outperforms that aborted 8-core that can't go past 4GHz in 2019.

Even amateurs should care if their work is corrupted randomly in RAM by cosmic rays

>everything is soldered AND proprietary
wrong. CPU, RAM and SSD is user removable, also plenty of standard PCIe slots available.

thats pretty much right yes

> 10-core iMac Pro
> 32GB RAM
> highest end model
user... the iMac Pro goes up to 18-cores and 256GB ECC RAM

Yeah... So as I said, not for consumers.
That's so awesome. Nothing like dropping $6k for a Mac Pro with 256GB SSD and 4GB RAM just so you have the opportunity, no, the privilege! Of dropping even MORE money just to make the PC worth a fuck. And that's assuming Apple didn't use proprietary formats.

Wtf are you doing that doesn't matter if it gets corrupted in RAM but cannot be done on a cheapass low end box?

wait, are you poor?

You said consumer. An average consumer is watching YouTube and checking their Facebook.

Are you mentally deficient? If you're going to drop a combined total of $10k+ on a PC, don't you want good performance? Or is paying more for Les part of the charm of apple.

Although I'm interested in the 6k monitor. It actually seems to be quite nice, but I don't think anyone can power it with a non Apple PC because it uses TB3. Is there such a thing as TB3 to DP or something?

Then they should be using a phone, shitty laptop, or NUC type device.

theres plenty of similar non apple monitors

And you're exactly right, which is why i said ECC isn't for consumers. See? We agree then. Consumers don't edit video or photos for a living where corruption can cost them money and down time.

show me a similar one.

>don't you want good performance?
Can you get 128GB of HBM2 video memory on any other system noadays?

>apple btfo'ing themselves
what a time to be alive

That if they sell the base model too cheaply nobody will buy upgrades from them

source: his ass

I was talking primarily about the RAM and SSD. $6k gets you their base model of 256GB SSD and 4GB ram. That's pathetic. And the base model has dual GPU, not quad. You're talking $15k easy to get the model with 4 GPUs.

>What was Applel thinking this time?
Massive margins. The base and top end models have the same internals aside from the customizable stuff. Same 1.5kW PSU, mobo, chassis, ports, etc. This allows them to price the base model way high and the upgrade models even higher.

apple has never been about good value for the money
these will sell because if you want a high spec mac it's your only choice. and lots of people want that.

Why are itoddlers so stupid

are you poor? The base model is aimed for starving people

Consumers often do edit home videos and photos, and would be sad if those got corrupted randomly.

apple monetized the "I dont want to understand computers just make something simple for my basic needs" while microsoft dropped the ball and meanwhile linux has been giving the finger even to people who like linux for decades now

apple made a simple, cool, computer that's also become a status icon. their insane price strategy helps feed the status strategy and everything is wrapped up in a bow.

based iMac
