can't wait till someone ports Morphos/AmigaOS to Raptor Blackbird

The GameCube will always be the best PowerPC machine.

That's not how you spell Wii-U

macmini g4. I will install morphOS.

How hot are the G4s compared to the G5s?

Wrong cube.

Don’t know about g5.
G4 mini is okay if you clean the dust.
But I haven't tested it with games yet.

Is there any usable ppc notebook?
I thought about the powerbook but it seems slow and hard to repair.

Moar PPC Thinkpad pics plz.

How bout a video instead?

Nice. I’ve been hoping one of these or a SPARC Tadpole floats my way some day.

>Is there any usable ppc notebook?
There is this vaporware: powerpc-notebook.org/
Also, Jow Forums doesn't want you to know, but NXP (formerly freescale) sells new G4-based chips and boards:
nxp.com/products/processors-and-microcontrollers/power-architecture-processors/powerquicc-processors/powerquicc-iii:PCPPCMPC85XX#/
Prices are retarded tho.

If only not every big pc manufacturer switched to Intel. Now everybody has to use their botnet CPU's.
New ppc hardware is way to expensive. There is also the "amiga" x5000 board which is also overpriced.

The only one worth getting is the TP860 and even if you managed to find one (they are extremely rare) it will cost you a kidney and a half.

Well, RISC ARM boards exist,user

Yeah I’m aware.

The G4 notebooks aren't too bad for day to day use, but you certainly won't be going anywhere fast.

They seem intimidating to work on at first, but once you familiarize yourself after a few tear downs, it's cake. The most difficult thing is keeping track of the screws.

check rapror blackbird is on the cheaper side and supports moddern power9 cpus

What's the benefit?
More expensive
Less efficient
No software
Why don't I just apply every core mitigation and still go faster than these retarded slow CPUs with no future?

>why not use some propriairy botnet glow in the dark nigger CPU. Muuh ppc is slow. Give me some 28 core Intel xeon botnet™

i still have a powerbook G4, early 2005, maxed out stats, what can i do with it?

>no SMP
Honestly the more likely target is AROS-Hosted on Linux, like with the RPi.

Install morphOS it is good for Jow Forums, collecting memes watching emails listening to music. It costs 80€ though but you can try it out for 30 mimutes + looks good.

Installing debian gentoo...

>my PPC that runs no software is secure

OpenBSD with Qutebrowser turns any G4 +450Mhz into a decent shitposting box

Looks like the best you can do on that thing for a display adapter is PCI. Bleh.

>Apple Thinks Freescale Sucks

>Whispers around the loop in Cupertino have had Mac mini fans abuzz. After leaving the Mac mini to languish for months, Apple is finally planning a major update to the petite personal computer that is sure to drive new sales. No surprise, then, that the mini will see its first Intel processor, probably the Intel Core Solo, and ditch the PowerPC G4 once and for all. Though some certainly don't want to see it that way.

>The PowerPC 7448, from Freescale, is the latest in a series of upgrades to the G4. This one uses the e600 core, which is essentially identical to the traditional G4 core but relies on Freescale's new ultra-modern naming conventions meant to make the company look like it's hard at work on new technology instead of just tweaking a design that goes all the way back to 1994.

>Contacts at Freescale confirmed the news. “Apple has loved the PowerPC 603 since we introduced it in 1995, and we'd kept them happy ever since,” one anonymous source said. When asked why Apple was moving the rest of their lines to Intel, the same source scoffed. “Apple demanded a lot — first they want new cores, then they want improvements to them! Lot of good it did them too. Good luck with SSE!”

>One source close to mini development at Apple commented:

>Steve Jobs made the decision to stick with the G4 as long as he did for one reason: Being over a decade-old design, it's really, really cheap and he thought it was a good way to run the contract with Freescale out. It just so happens, however, that we never told Freescale when exactly we were going to stop ordering from them. So look who gets stuck holding the G4! Bwahaha!

Attached: nog4.png (153x156, 9K)

>Further questions to Freescale regarding the debut of their dual-core G4 chips and the new 64-bit e700 core went unanswered, though an engineer from IBM was candid on the topic: “If they release 64-bit by Summer, they'll only be four years behind us. I guess you can't expect much from a company who thinks processor development is icky and that the 603 core was the pinnacle of technology for all time.”

>Apple, Freescale, and IBM were not available for official comment.

Kek is this nigga serious

They are fast provided you use the OS they came with and the software from that era.
It's not really their fault the web is so pozzed these days.

Yeah, web browsing could be better, but there are a few options for web browsing aside from TFF. Webkit works well, as does arctic fox.

>runs no software
While I'm not a freetard this is where free software shines

CPUs with no commercial software made for them are actually a gateway drug to becoming a freetard.

Well then I've been on this gateway drug for practically a decade without actually falling down the slippery slope.

And what commercial software do you need?

MS Office, Autodesk Suit, Adobe Creative Cloud. etc.
