what are all those PCI-E cards, user?
poo/10, a true gentleman
oh god why are noctua fans so UGLY
From top to bottom:
>GPU (durr)
>Dedicated USB 3.0 Controller for VM
>PCIe -> m.2 adapter for 2nd NVMe disk
>Ethernet card for VM
>Ethernet card for VM
Likewise, good sir. poo/10.
poorfag/10
I prefer oversized cases.
what case is that?
some thermaltake abomination
cant remember the name
Are the Noctua fans actually worth it?
I'm considering going all Noctua for my new mITX build. I've used Noctua CPU coolers before and always been happy with them but is it really worth spending that amount of money on case fans?
OP here.
IMHO yes, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them. I bought the CPU cooler in 2008, Noctua sent me a free mounting kit for AM2/3 in ~2010 and another free mounting kit for AM4 in 2017. The cooler was super expensive, but it'll last forever. Same goes for the fans, really, but make sure to get PWM ones.
based and nocpilled
based and boomerpilled
>All that empty space
But why though? At least get the version of that case with HDD racks and 5.25" bays to make use of all that space. Or shit a fat fucking 360mm radiator
>inB4 much airflow
Negligible difference
Anyhow, here's muh PC
what in the right side?
Yea the right side of you case where those 3 fans are. If you went custom liquid, you could easily stuff a 45mm thick radiator there
Functional/10, although I'm not a fan of bottom intake fans as they're just dust magnets.
Get sleeved cables and you're done.
>all that empty space
>all those noctua fans
dude, just use the stock fans and get a better cooler like the nh d15 and you will get the same temps and noise since you would have only 3 fans. Maybe keep the bottom one for the gpu
>Sleeved
I like my.blaxk ribbon cables though. Besides, my case doesn't even have a window lol. Pic unrelated. My server
Noctua PWM fans are the best fans I've had so far, but they're very expensive for being just fans.
Nice, I love green pcb.. Specs?
>buy FD case with closed off front for silence
>open top instead
Why user?
Open top allows fuckloads of noise to escape.
And being quiet is the fucking point of FD.
yuo'er liek little babi man

>being quiet is the fucking point of FD
No it's not, Fractal Design is about minimalist monolithic case design with high material and build quality
>All those Seasonic Focus+ power supplies
Unless all three of these are from the same poster, this is a pretty funny coincidence.
Nope. Just good power units. I got my Seasonic Focus 650w 80+ Gold for $75. My main PC is the shroud covers my PSU, but it's a Seasonic 650w PRIME Titanium.
shit pic but its the most recent
seasonic is just that good
Are virgins the target audience of Fractal Deisgn's cases?
redpill me on noctua case fans
are they worth it?
love that water cooler set up, what parts did you use?
>redpill me on noctua case fans
>are they worth it?
Only the a12x25 are a tier above other fans. You shouldn't buy it unless you got shit fans or need a new fan tbqh.
I only have one stock case fan and seeing as i'm getting a vega 56 in a couple weeks I figured I had better finally step up my cooling game
should I go full poo?
t. Faggot who doesn't post his PC.
It's OK user, we get it. You can't afford nice things
>redpill me on noctua case fans
>are they worth it?
yes
>although I'm not a fan of bottom intake fans as they're just dust magnets.
that case has a bottom dust filter for both the PSU and the fan on the bottom
I bet he has RBG leds up the ass
If you already have decent fans that came with your case, just use the poofans for the cpu cooler and intake.
Daily reminder that intake is more important than exhaust
>redpill me on noctua case fans
>are they worth it?
yes
first thing you do after getting a new case is throw out the case fans and replace them with noctuas
ok i'm gonna grab some and the dh15, fucking annoying that they don't come with an am4 bracket and you have to order one
Specs are
>Haswell G3260 dual core
>Supermicro C224 chipset server motherboard
>16GB of unbuffered ECC DDR3-1333MHz (4x4GB)
>LSI 9211-8i dual mini SAS card
>MSI GT710 1GB passively cooled
>Gigabyte USB 3.1/C PCIe card
>Samsung 850 EVO 250GB (OS)
>2x 2TB Seagate Barracuda in windows RAID 1 (pictures & music)
>2x 4TB Toshiba X300 in windows RAID 1(movies)
>2x 4TB Toshiba N300 in windows RAID 1 (Anime and TV series)
>Single Seagate Ironwolf 8TB (backup of all arrays)
>Seasonic 650w Focus gold
>Fractal R5 no window
>Be Quiet! cooling stuff
dumbass, get the DH15S, shit has the AM4 bracket and is guaranteed not to be 2fat for your RAM
oh nice, just read on their site that they've included it since 2019
gonna be pissed if I have old stock and end up not getting one though
>Daily reminder that intake is more important than exhaust
IMO that's not the case.
Exhaust removes the hot air from around the CPU cooler and gpu and the cooler the air that a cooler takes in the better it cools.
user seems to have a good fan already but I think the exhaust fan should be paid attention to. Something very airflow optimized and set to spin faster than the others.
>he thinks heat goes out via air only through the exhaust fans
>he thinks his pc case is sealed
send help
Well I guess setting intake on full bast so it would blow the air through the side holes and extension slots should be very efficient, but loud as fuck.
I don't think that COOLING a pc is an issue today. My Vega and 2700X are doing fine with OC.
The challenge is doing it quitely.
>get padded case
>get Nocshit fan
>aim for at least 2:1 intake:exhaust
>implying the GPU isn't an exhaust
>Daily reminder that intake is more important than exhaust
the only reason to go for a higher ratio of intake fans is if you're attempting to create positive pressure to try and reduce the amount of dust you get, if you have a lot of hot components you need a lot of exhaust fans to get that hot air out faster
it doesn't matter how many intakes you have if the ambient temperature in the case is 40c because you only have a single exhaust fan
still better than a PS4
positive pressure gets rid of hot air through the little spaces of your case as well as via your exhaust fans.
Theyre making all black versions this year
Pewdiepie has a fractal case too
>implying the GPU isn't an exhaust
Unless it's a ref most of them have rad fins perpendicular to the air flow so it's hardly significant.
More air comes out through the hole next to it and the perforations in slot sovers.
>get padded case
>get Nocshit fan
>aim for at least 2:1 intake:exhaust
I personally have an FD R6 with Silent wings wans which aren't much worse and In my experience the best setting is to set it like 1.5/1 or so.
The temps are affected a lot more by the speed of the rear fan than the speed of the two frontal ones so you go quieter if you set the rear fan to higher RPM and the frontal ones to lower RPM. It's still positive pressure but not very high.
it would be if it’d load windows 10.
PS4 doesn't either.
You sure you have enough noctua fans?
ooof
Should i go Nocuta or Be Quiet for a quiet build?
Chinese special mobo and dual e5-2360v2's with 32gb of ram and 20tb storage.
Lives in my garage and does jellyfin/media server stuff.
I'd post my desktop but the kids are playing by it, might do it once their in bed
yes
BQ fans are generally a bit quieter than Noctua ones, but they push less air. Either would be fine
>closed front case
>front new gentle typhoon noctua
>rear airflow propeller fan
What do you need dual CPUs for when only running Jellyfin? Do you have shitloads of transcode jobs going at the same time or what?
Hardwarelabs radiator, tygon tubing, the rest from ek. The new noctua fan is impressive, I'll probably get a second one and stick those on the rad instead.
Filters only impede dust ingress, even ones that are much finer than the fractal case filters
>What do you need dual CPUs for when only running Jellyfin? Do you have shitloads of transcode jobs going at the same time or what?
A bunch of vm's and docker stuff. Plus I like to decode full Blu-ray rips to x265 so plenty of horsepower helps
So how badly is the i7-9700k effected by the patches? Is it still the top gaming CPU if aiming for 144+ for? Is Ryzen 3 going to be on par?
How the fuck is this working with tiny 650 watt psu.
What the fuck. Get a fractal node case and upgrade this thing.
All your computers make too much sense.
Except yours.
80W TDP server processors and no gpu, so trivially.
is there any reason i shouldn't open my case on both sides an take a compressed can of air to it?
is there a better way to get dust and shit out?
Thats a pretty decent setup, even tho it's not needed if it was my server i'd def have a xeon.
My server is:
Xeon x3440 @ 3ghz
DFI Lanparty p55 itx
16gb Crucial tactical 1600mhz cl8
Evga gtx660ti
WD Red 6tb
Intel 335 (I think) 250gb os ssd
Corsair AX 750 psu
CoolerMaster 130 itx case.
I need to get a backup hdd myself, and I'm gonna replace the psu one of these days, it's old as fuck.
>80W TDP server processors and no gpu, so trivially.
Yeah this thing sips power for the nearly 16k passmark on the cpus.
It's saving me nearly £2 per week in power over my old supermicro dual CPU board
Yea I was thinking of grabbing a use Xeon off eBay. It would be a direct drop in.
As apposed to what? trash looking gamer shit? Post your case or shut the fuck up you mong.
>buying the poop fan
>not buying the grey and slower NF P12
kys obedient slag
If my motherboard only have a single 16x slot placed at to upper most slot, can I flip the big ass heatsink 90 degrees to make room for the GPU?
You can, but the heatsink will be drawing warmer air off the back of the card, and will be also sucking in the card's exhaust if it isnt a blower.
That's okay, I just want to recycle my expensive parts instead of wasting money on new replacements.
>oven
Holy Moly
In that case, go for it. Just make sure the top of your case has adequate exhaust.
Thanks.
Its a fractal meme like with top grill.
Lol I top out at 40°c for both CPUs at 100% usage and the HDDs don't go above 30°c.
Helps that the case is some fookin massive gamer thing with 140mm fan mounts everywhere
The heatsink is 150mm wide and 137mm long, it is going to be a tight fit but I hope it works out.
Initial build
Added some gaymer rgbs becuz why not
V1 looks better than V2.
In hindsight I would mod v1's GPU with a Morpheus ii and call it a day.
so you are one of those guys who buy eatx case and mini-ITX motherboard?
Prebuilt?
> P O W E R M A D
>TORMENT
what is the noodle for? vibration dampening? airflow direction control?
>tfw noctua is gonna make me spend £25 on a faceplate
they 100% made their cooler ugly on purpose
>tfw back fan died
why can Noctua never make nicely colored fans
based and noctupilled
dumb and bequietfagpilled
they are. they have the cromax series, and also they presented the a.series in black . altho whoever uses noctua and doesn t choose POO colour is a fucking faggot.
What waterblock are you using for that GPU?
