>HD-660

I want the absolute highest quality cans I can get for a very specific purpose; Spoken Word.
Not music, no instruments, just voices talking. Not singing.

What are the absolute summit-tier headphones I can get for this purpose? I want to be able to close my eyes and genuinely hear that the person talking is simply sitting in front of me.

STAX

Continuing to making niggaz mad cuz gear b bad

Attached: Sound.png (625x1507, 443K)

From what I know about electrostats I can't quite tell if you're memeing me or not. I'd think that they should be quite good at spoken word but I need confirmation from someone with experience.

You want something with an intimate soundstage. Probably the HD600 series, which are well known for their intimate vocals.

No Stax has the opposite of what you want. Stax has a wide soundstage which will make vocals sound far away.

Also electrostats are mostly an audiophool meme. They're not actually enjoyable to listen to.

fidelio or 58x?

Fidelio

Get rid of the snakeoil cables and gaymer soundcard and it's not a bad setup.

Good thread

Buy Stax

>I want to be able to close my eyes and genuinely hear that the person talking is simply sitting in front of me.
>with headphones
None on the market will get you anywhere close to that, but if you must: AKG K1000 or MySphere 3.1 I guess? IDK.

Stax will do this for you

Actually good recommendations. You even included Stax so the Edifier employees don't sperg out.

*3.2
MySphere 3.1 is 15 Ohms
MySphere 3.2 is 110 Ohms (better with amp)
Doubt.

Unironically Stax. Also just admit you're looking for an ASMR headphone.

What are good headphones for listening to Jazz and music production.

Stax

58x

now I'm conflicted.

Welcome to /hpg/.

Picked up a few pairs of these for 75 USD today.
Seems like a lot of places have them on sale right now for ~100-150 and they're good enough to warrant their normal 300 USD pricetag as it is.

Woops forgot pic

>STAX
Redpill on STAX for newbies: STAX is an old Jap company with outdated tech that was considered high end back in the 1960s and 1970s but sounds like ass by today's standards, so they went nearly bankrupt.

They were purchased by a Chinese company for just a million dollars who decided to market STAX to the audiophool "more expensive is better" demographic who buys those crappy $3000 vinyl players, they shill heavily on HeadFi and here on /hpg/. They also leveraged STAX's prior Japanese identity to market it to weebs, using Youtubers like Zeos.

>In December 2011, Chinese loudspeaker manufacturer Edifier announced the acquisition of 100% equity in Stax

Oratory has measured the highest end STAX, the SR-009S.

dropbox.com/s/61srehjyaltd7w0/Stax SR-009S.pdf?dl=0

dropbox.com/s/dm0m6u3s3b4zqzl/Sennheiser HD600.pdf?dl=0

It's worse than the HD600. HD600 scored 92 and SR-009S scored 76.

Recently Rtings rated STAX across various dimension, it's worse in terms of sound than mid-priced offerings from Hifiman and Audeze, and only got a 7.7 rating.

In a separate study:

>The very highest end STAX ($4000 SR-009) was rated lower in blind tests than a $200 K701

To add insult to overpriced injury, they have shitty plastic build quality that you would expect on cheap chinkshit headphones:

Oratory (respected sound engineer) on the build:

i.imgur.com/Dru4gzZ.png

Even best Stax headphones sound objectively worse than mid-fi. This is why they don't demo them in store, they rely on the internet to create a sense of mystique around STAX and shill it as the endgame because its expensive, Asian, rare and obscure. In reality its no bass sounding garbage, Made in China snakeoil for the audiophool.

Wtf? The tier list incel made a new thread when the old one was not even close to bump limit.

The HD600 is the go-to mid-head phone.

Please give me a headphone to replace my K7xx that is NOT Stax.

Stax

DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

Why the fuck would you be sending an analog signal to the DAC?

yes

>coaxial is analog
good job zoomer

Ouch, this is bad. Next time just put a link to reddit or sbaf for recommendations. It's highly unlikely they will come up with something worse.

Wow, this is based

Superlux hd681 evo or hd668b?
I liked the evo sound more and both are bought as backup headphones

Forgetting the venerable HD-25?

No shp9500s?

Hi guys, I have a DT770 for my desktop.
I need something new for my portable headphones. Ideally I want something sub £100 and over ear style with mic built in. Any recommendations for something like that?

Attached: avtr.png (248x203, 59K)

Hey user, what’s your headphones of choice this morning?

Attached: 6A0E31C4-7645-473A-9D60-B5C18BDDC91C.jpg (3152x2653, 1.9M)

Who me? Listening to SR-009.

Require a headset, really want wireless, but the Arctis 3 bluetooth has a lot of trouble with the mic in windows due to bluetooth, and the Corsair HS70 is lower overall quality in audio/mic compared to my sibera 200s.

So it looks like my best option is the Arctis 7 wireless 2019? The older Arctis 7 seemed fine.

Anyone try them?

Any good IEMs for riding a motorbike?
Need something that blocks out wind noise.

Why the fuck would you use a sound card in the first place if it's only going to act as a pass-through for a digital signal?

That sounds like a horrible idea

You obviously don't ride.

etymotic.com/er3-new.html

Pretty sure your helmet should be doing something about wind noise, otherwise being able to hear things seem useful.

B

This. If you experience too much wind noise you should be looking at different helmets or at quitting riding, not at plugging your ears.

I've got a MDR7506 coming in the mail, what am I in for?

Aside from the "Boomer endorsed" memes?

A good set of headphones with so an so earpads.

"My first not shit sounding headphones, flat edition"
Get yourself a $10 surprise pack from brainwavz while there's still some stock if you want good and cheap replacement pads which you most likely will need.

Idol trash here.
What's your setup like, user?

Attached: 1533566407209.png (1920x1080, 1.57M)

I have a DT770 80ohm and a Fiio E10K and I hear no difference than cheap headset on mobo realtek soundcard

Get some custom one pros

Nura headphones

Thanks for the suggestion senpai, that's still a bit big. These are my current ones I wanna replace with similar form factor. It has a small mic too which is more than enough.

lmao

Are there headphones with active noise canceling that aren't horrendously expensive? I really want headphones that don't block outside noise from coming in but don't let others hear my shit either.

Best sub 100$CAD bluetooth earbuds to workout with that preferably got good bass?

Got recommended QCY QS1 is it a good choice?

What EQ Software do you guys use to fix your headphones (like a spike in a certain frequency)? Or do you use an preamp for that?
Don't know whats best and can't find anything on that thematic

KSC25 are best low budget portables. IEM buttplugs are gay and the Portapro is the flimsiest, most garbage shit ever.

does hd650 have significantly more bass than hd600 or is it a minor difference

Either, preferably closed though
>Comfort level
Comfortable for long time wear. Sony MDVR6 I can wear a long time, HD800 not so much.
>Sound signature
Neutral, not too bright not too warm. If anything, bass because I'm a basic bitch
>Past headphones
Denon DH2000, Sony MDVR6/7506, Koss KSC25 for outside use, Sennheiser HD800

I trusted your word, user. They should be here sometime this or next week.

I’ll mainly be using them for piano because I feel like my Bose aren’t measuring up to the task.

58X

I feel genuinely bad for people who believe the lies about electrostatics without ever having heard them. They genuinely believe that they have zero bass.

HD600 for the most neutral and most well-balanced Sennheiser makes.

Main priorities:
Durability
>worn while biking in shine and rain, and in machine shop
>usually worn one-ear, with second bud tucked under shirt
>has possibility of getting yanked
>worried about losing loudness after a short period (I think it's from wires getting loose)
Long-lasting
>work 9-12 hour days
>mostly listen to podcasts, some music
>don't care about how it sounds other than it's loud enough to hear
Model style (most to least preferred)
>solid neck base with magnetic docks for the buds
>neck base with buds that clamp to each other, or are connected via bracket
>base that clips to collar
>no base

I checked the /csg/ infograph, but they only seem to suggest a single Bluedio model whose battery life is too low for my needs.

aeon flow open

Friendly reminder that the only two headphones worth owning are HD800S and HD600. Everything else is literally garbage.
HD800S for god-tier soundstage, HD600 for accuracy.
