oh wait i think i posted this before lol

Not necessarily but if you've got specific goals and jobs in mind it's worth checking the qualifications you need to get to accomplish those goals

Tradeschool, do you like fabrication, animation or cooking? It's a good start.

yeah but it's just qualifications i could learn most of the stuff on my own it's kinda dumb you need to pay so much money just to get a piece of paper that says you know how to do the thing
animation sounds interesting
what else do they have trade school for?

I went to college for math and CS thinking there would be a huge overabundance of jobs for me upon graduation. It took me six years. Turns out you need years of experience to apply for most jobs and there aren't any jobs in my area. I never was able build a portfolio or find that needed experience and I basically just wasted a shitload of time doing nothing. Now I just wish I had worked retail for minimum wage for the past decade instead. Just consider the possibility that, even if you major in something promising, you might end up an broke, autistic, unemployable fuckup with almost a decade of your life missing.

Yeah but for some things you need the paper. If you need it then do it if you don't then don't.

thanks i'll take this into consideration

Welding is usuals 20$ an hour. 80$+ for underwater welding.

hm, what about other creative things? i wouldn't want to do the mindless tasks for 8 hours a day for the rest of my life so it would be nice to get paid for making things like music or something. or is that not how trade schools work idk

Animation only works if you become a successful YouTuber or are hired by people who will subvert your vision.

What is in your heart? What is in your mind? What do you want to do?

i've always wanted to make things, create productions. like video games or stories or anything like that.

the same mindless tasks*

If you want to make games, just start making them immediately. Learn a game engine. Maybe take a look at /agdg/ on /vg/. Keep in mind, working conditions for AAA devs are terrible and pay is low and that solo indie devs make on average about $10K a year because the market is oversaturated.

t. wasted time and money on a degree when I could have just taught myself to make games.

The demand for that is a competitive field.. have you tried soloing painting or something in your free time? Ex. Putting your feelings on a canvas to step through that door yourself?

No. Tech school (think computers, machinery, or some kind of engineering) or a journeyman-ship is the express ticket to middle class income, and most degrees don't ultimately pay out much better than a high school diploma. Joining the military in an area that has civilian jobs (IT, auto mechanics, etc) will get you veteran's benefits, training, work experience, and a salary. That's what I would do if I could go back to age 15 and try again.

Get a real job and DM role playing campaigns. Creative fields are highly oversaturated and for every rich celebrity there are thousands of basement dwellers/washed up porn stars who didn't make it.

The most based post.

Even the tech world can be oversaturated. Try doing freelance web development and you'll be face to face with an army of third-worlders who are willing to make websites for $5/hr.

i've been trying to learn, i tried to figure out how to use a daw for making music but it just sounded like too much and i gave up, now i'm trying to learn C to program some simple games to start out with but most engines use C++ so i guess i'll eventually have to learn that. i don't know if i'm going to get the hang of it within the next couple years though
i don't know about the military it seems really difficult to basically be on the job all the time with so little free time. and i'll be constantly thinking about am i fighting for the right thing or am i just supporting more worthless violence and gay dumb pacifist shit like that
that's basically my plan right now, don't know what kind of 'real job' to do though
>web development
lol i definitely won't do that don't worry

>am i just supporting more worthless violence and gay dumb pacifist shit like that
why am i such a s.0yboy

Just be yourself :)

thanks

On the military part it would be a /SIG/ meme. They will pay you well and make you fit and in fighting form. I tried but they rejected me. Bad back.

is this sxtisfieq?

Nah, but if you're young they will reform your body and path.

k

Extremely unlikely that there will be a full on foreign war in the next 6 years.

Hurricanes, earthquakes, insurrections. There will be plenty of work to be done for the greater good.

Is that going to discourage anyone from joining the military though? Basic training and war are the two reasons I always hear.

Your oath to the Constitution is what you should remember. Just went through 3 mins of captchas to say that.

National guard is bottom tier bit utterly nessecary.

Well from your description above, if you are not short of money then you probably should go. All those tests and homework in college will give you some motivations at least. Besides college degree is kind of like a insurance guaranteeing you more possibility of becoming a higher level wagie.
