Did this for a year, and upgraded to a 1080p Ultrawide and a 900p secondary monitor. Enjoy your 768p 32" TV.

Yes. /thread

I have two setup but honestly I rarely use it. Mostly just for VMs to debug apps I'm working on. On occasion I'll stream cable news on it or something. It's nice to have but I could live with out it.

I’m a phoneposter, and I’m still not as pathetic as you OP.

If you like being distracted constantly by shit, sure.
If you enjoy getting shit done, you should:
1) stop having the memory of a amoeba and
2) learn how to alt-tab instead

Is there any uses for a larger desk?

A reasonably large monitor (27+ inches) at a high enough resolution (1440p+) is enough for the vast majority of people, and also for the majority of everything you do.
If you run everything maximized and suddenly get excited like a soiboi when you see that two monitors allow you to see TWO APPS AT ONCE!!!!!!1111 you are a laughing stock. Manage your windows properly.

Yes.
However, there is no use for multiple desks.

>when a single monitor displays more stuff than two monitors

Just use a tiling wm ffs

Peripheral vision when gaming

anime waifu display

Why the fuck would I play video games in a window? Are you retarded?

Plenty. Right now I have a video streaming on my main monitor and I'm using the other to shitpost, I also commonly use the second monitor for reference material while working on the main monitor (net admin stuff, web GUIs for network appliances, text editors for web dev/scripting, remote desktop stuff, etc.). I also sometimes use it for reference material with a game on the primary monitor.

>Playing with tile sets
fucking disgusting

If you have to ask, then you're not using computers in an enterprise setting.

No you need at least 3.

This. Had two mons at home and at the office for a year. At home I realised I was looking either at one or at the other. No productivo mas bro. At the office I'm still clinging to them because muh honor. But they are useless. I use a 17 inch at home, that's no typo. Can't feel anything for bigger shit.

can watch anime and play vidya at the same time

threw up in my mouth a bit.

I can imagine how user drags all this windows for 10 minutes to make good picture and when it's almost perfect winamp suddenly bar itself an then resizes to fullscreen

Not really, I used it for many years and then realized multiple monitors hurt the neck af.

Revisit your "hobbies" because you are clearly not into any of them. If you just want to pass time you can always sleep.

>you need to concentrate on your hobby!!!
>no breaks
>no toilet, play your game until you done!

This is a weird larp

Deserved for using winamp

Its nice to have at-a-glance information on my other monitor, such as temps and CPU usage.

You honestly don't need 2 monitors unless you work at your PC.

This pictures illustrates the need for a tiling WM

When you go to toilet you stop your gayming session and go take a shit you mouthbreather. If you do 2 things at the same time, in reality you do neither of them, and quite clearly have no interest in either. Do something productive with your time instead of forcing yourself to do things you dont enjoy.

lol shut up faggot

youtube video while playing vidya
3rd monitor for task manager and irc while playing vidyas

Id rather type win+1-9 on my tiling WM than having two bezels right between my displays.
How doesnt that drive everybody insane?

Good comeback sweetie. How is job hunting going? Mum getting on your case yet?

Why the fuck would you play video games?

>Winamp

Fellate a shotgun you faggot, this is cringy as fuck

no
when you use 2 monitors you must turn your head
when you use 1 monitor you need only hit a key for switch.

> use the second monitor for reference material while working on the main monitor

Yes, no way you could do that with two windows on one monitor.

I'm a translator, and if I'm not using a translation memory software it's nice to have one document on each screen, instead of making them share a screen and be small and awkward.
If I'm using Trados or whatever, I can just have my browser on the second screen with whatever website I might need.
I could work just fine with one screen, but it's convenient. I got the second one for 40 yurobucks at a store five minutes away by foot.

> Another monitor for info that could be reported by a taskbar widget.

Peak autism

Assume I already have multiple PuTTY instances, maybe a SFTP client, a web browser, and a text editor open on the primary monitor. What, exactly, is your problem with using a second monitor for referencing manuals, wikis, search engine results, etc.? More screen real estate is not a bad thing if you actually have a use for it, and anyone who argues that point is a poorfag or a luddite.

OK. Watch out for the autist.

Multiboxing MMO clients.

its a bot you retards....

>More screen real estate is not a bad thing

Assuming for the moment you need all that visible at once, why not get a larger monitor and tile? What practical use is gained by having all that on a second physical screen?

I'm an engineer, and I find a second monitor in the portrait position is really useful. You can read documents with less scrolling, perfect for searching files, browsing websites (everything is designed for phones now), etc.

Since it's less space width wise you don't need to turn your head as much.

Attached: IMG_2525.jpg (1000x629, 87K)

There's less setup and configuration involved with a second monitor vs. setting up proper tiling, and the cost will be about the same.

Ask yourself the reverse question: what advantage is there in using a single huge display vs. multiple displays?

watching 16 camgirls at the same time

>Jow Forums is so weak, they can't handle moving their head a couple of degrees
>Jow Forums's eyes are so bad, they can't see through their periphery

if you have multiple monitors then use them but dont buy a 2nd one for more screen real estate - i have a 1440p and a 1080p and my screencaps are 4k

Yeah, full screen bash

Having more than one monitor is for holding onto an old, beloved workhorse that you cant' bear to let go of is what it's for.

Absolutely.

If you do any kind of work or education on your computer it's worth it.

If my job didn't give me two monitors I would lose my mind.

Just making money bro

If you actually do work on your computer then multiple screens are essential. As an example you could have the data you're analysing in one window and the application you're working with in another window. You could just split a single monitor in half and snap a window to each half but you end up severely limiting the amount of data you can show on a single screen. Another alternative would be a very high resolution monitor or an ultrawide monitor, but you'd have to use a window manager that supports tiling to make that functional. Multiple monitors just work right out of the box.

I personally have three monitors at work, I use the central one for the application I'm doing most of my work on, the right monitor for displaying any additional information I need and the left monitor for a chat window/email and terminal (snapped to either side). I could probably cut down to just two monitors if I really want, but having my chat window always visible without the need for notifications is a plus.

This is the one true set up. I’m a physicist, I can do;

h: matlab/python
v: variables/figures

h: citation manager/other
v: paper pdfs

h: LaTeX writing/figure organization
v: LaTeX pdf output

basically its just easier for long text to be vertical but most other things horizontal. Easily turn off the other display if I am just using one

no

Only if you can find uses for a second one.

depends on your work/needs.
I've
1st Gayming 27'' 1080p 240Hz
2nd Trading Stock/Crypto/Work 31.5'' 2160p 60Hz *125% scailing
3rd Social related stuffs (discord twitter Jow Forums etc) 24'' 1080p 60Hz
and still not enough for me.

I'm trying to go back to single monitor. I barely use my second but it's still nice to have when I have something using a full screen
