so apparently the Xbox Scarlett os going to have processor that's as much as 4 Times more powerful than the one X. that's not very surprising given that the Jaguar was apparently already an outdated piece of shit back in 2013 and now that AMD has gotten their shit together it's only a given that Processing power Will completely sky-rocket in the next generation. what does this mean for gaming tho? how exactly Will developers use that power in order to give us an upgraded experience when it comes to gaming, given that consoles are known to hold PC gaming back?

It's obviously going to be a very capable machine at launch, but it's also obviously going to wear out as the console generation trucks along for the next 7 or 8 years.

No, they didn't promise a 4x faster processor. Just 4x more performance in some specific, unmentioned test case.

...

More useless shit crammed into the console OS taking up precious cycles on a severely underclocked chip, using SSDs as swap/virtualram/pagefile.

They are pushing digital copy license shit so hard and SSDs still cost a fuck ton 1TB SSD is hardly enough when games are 50GB minimum these days excluding all the microtransaction DLCs and updates.

If it comes with 2:1 fp32:fp64 and it boot linux I'm buying two.

the question is if the new APU will be as efficient as Jaguar.

a 150W APU on 16nm that can pull off the performance of a 185W 14nm GPU is pretty impressive.

>Keeps capitalizing 'Will'
What kind of bot makes a post like this?

Pretty sure they meant 4x overall performance than the One X, not just GPU but CPU too which makes sense considering how much faster Zen2 is, PCIE4.0, Much faster and more VRAM and all that. What it means for gaming, what it always means, that we'll see a good jump in graphical "fidelity" the first year from AAA studios and then they will plateau like they always do. Personally i hope that all the extra horsepower doesn't get wasted in just getting higher resolutions and over 60fps and they push geometry, AI density, textures/materials and lighting instead.

>how exactly Will developers use that power
more political bullshit literally no one asked for paired with ray tracing for nicer water effects

At some point they are going to have to abandon the tiny form factors and accept that they could make a box that's aesthetically pleasing and actually realize the potential of hardware instead of just crippling x86 hardware and I say this as a PC enthusiast because I would be all for it to see what they could do but nope. Gotta put shit in a tiny box and bake the ever living shit out of it and under clock it.

factoring in the Ray Tracing part, we're not going to see anywhere near the 4x power boost as advertised in FPS performance.

Have you thought about the fact that the console will be on the market for like a decade?
They usually stuff them full with beefy shit that makes them survive that long and not to just impress you with some higher FPS.
They need to be somewhat future proof, that's literally all to it.

a phone poster who has a contact named Will

>beefy and futureproofing.
Nah, they will just come out with a fucking mid gen refresh like the PS4 Pro or all the different Xbox versions.
So much buyers remorse for the PS4 and PS4 slim crowd with all the reported stuttering for games designed for PS4 Pro.

it also will have a 1TB nvme m.2 soldered onto the board and probably still an extra slot where you can connect a normal SSD for pure storage.

If it's soldered to the board it's no longer M.2 but just NVME.

Probably more useless eye candy in dumbed down AAA scripted rehashes. Meanwhile I'll continue playing EVE just like for a bit over a decade now.

>AMD got the Microsoft console contract
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO

INTEL BROS WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?

Attached: 1374971052604.jpg (666x666, 139K)

AMD has had the microsoft contract since the original xbox one.

Nvidia doesn't fucking care about x86 consoles and Intel doesn't want the low to non-existant margins of the console market hardware doesn't make much money in the console space, the games and online services make the money.

>This cope

nigga what? amd has been with xbox since the xbox 360. that was ATI but the deal continued after the buy up. the xbox one is failing though, the switch (nvidia) is on course to outsell even the ps4 in the same amount of time globally.

so much this

both xbox and ps brands are DEAD due to horrible aymmmd solutions

nothing comes close to botw graphically

What's the fuck is a Scarlett Xbox

next-gen consoles use AMD because Nvidia still can't make an x86 APU and their ARM SoCs are dead and complete shit even compared to the launch PS4.

botw runs better on pc

Nvidia can't make x86 apus because of the x86 license and getting sued out the ass, not because they can't physically make them.
Nvidia even got jewed out of the chipset market by both AMD and Intel.

Comparing a mobile SOC to a full blown couple hundred watt console is stupid.

>Comparing a mobile SOC to a full blown couple hundred watt console is stupid.
Not really when one of the main uses for Tegra is an Android console that uses active cooling and has to be plugged into a TV.

Fact is AMD is the smarter choice for a next-gen Playstation or Xbox, Nvidia simply doesn't have the ability to make something like the APUs in next-gen consoles.

>EVE

Go shit up your own shitty board

I like how you keep strong arming Nvidia into the conversation when the original topic was AMD vs Intel.

Attached: 1530338737285.jpg (257x320, 29K)

Intel is even worse, they still don't make an integrated GPU as powerful as the more than 5 year old PS4.

What's your point?

Is VULKAN and Freesync confirmed?

Or are they still using DX12/D3D12 beta bitch shit

>what does this mean for gaming tho?
better graphics and physics.

unfortunately the gaming industry is fucking trash now and every title is poop.

probably custom version of DirectX 12 again like the Xbox One family

the xbox one X has pretty much an fx-8350 clocked at 2.3ghz, to do 4x that they would need a 6-8 Core ryzen 4th gen @ 4.6ghz. 4.6ghz is way too high for an air cooled shoebox, so i bet they will use a 10 core/HT ryzen 4th gen @ 3ghz.

>the xbox one X has pretty much an fx-8350 clocked at 2.3ghz
It's actually based on Athlon II so it's like an 8 core Athlon II running at 2.3GHz. Still shit but a different kind of shit.

It's already confirmed to be 8 cores you numb numb.

It's a combined 4X not just CPU.
