then buy a gaming mouse with onboard memory and don't use the software. Or use autohotkey

Can't use the ball a button for programs like Unity, Blender or anything that requires a 3rd mouse button.

Just get a wireless mouse with with a scroll that works as a 3rd button and that's all you'll ever need.

I use it for games, I mostly play RPGs though and the occasional MMO.

I've had zero problems with the software on my end, my one complaint is that the DPI slider has no numbers.

It's comfy, but heavy, the battery in mine degraded rather fast, and the gesture switch started to get stuck occasionally after 2 years, making it unusable.

Still alright if you don't play games and the price isn't an issue.
